Fantasy Football

Here’s my team. Drafted last night in a 12 team league. The pos draft room froze during my pick & the computer picked the Falcons defense & free agency starts tomorrow so I’ll likely replace them, anyway. Still can’t believe I got both T Hill & Chase with the 8th pick. The pic isn’t the best quality for some reason. But, it’s still readable.

Wow. No idea how you got those guys in a 12 team. I like your bench too. I was big on Brob, Jaxon and Muth. That's a solid roster.

I haven't used CBS before, but I've heard nothing but issues with them and ESPN.

With both Chase and Hill, there will be weeks you will absolutely murder the squad you are facing.

Ty. I have no idea, either. Lol. I was in constant disbelief throughout the entire draft. I was pissed going into it bc I NEVER get a good slot. This is like the 6th draft in a row that I had pick 7 or 8 to work with in 12 team leagues.

But, I about shit when Hill was there at 8. Then, Chase at SEVENTEEN. And, it kept going somehow. I think Smith-Njigba is gonna have a big year. The new OC loves to utilize the slot & JSN will be reaping the benefits. Same for Muth. As a Steelers fan, I hated the Arthur Smith hire for OC. But, he loves TEs, so, Freiermuth should get plenty of targets.

I’ve used CBS for probably 25 years now. The actual format is solid. My only real complaints (although they are big complaints) are with the draft room & their news updates. Draft room always glitches out at least a cpl times in every draft, costing a pick.

The news/injury reports are horrible. They’re notorious for not posting updates in a timely manner. Like, there will be no new update on game day, leading you to believe there are no issues leading up to kickoff. Then, at 1:05 they’ll post, saying, “so & so is out today.” Screwed me good a few times. But, I learned my lesson a long time ago & haven’t paid attention to their injury reports in at least 10 years. Wasn’t as bad in the past & is strangely getting worse by the year.

ESPN sucks. A few of us in our league have issues with it just randomly logging us out, both on PC and phone. Which really ******* sucks when you're scrambling to grab somebody off the wire fast or make a last-minute lineup change.

I've looked over everybody's teams in this thread, and I like 'em all, but I just don't know enough about the league this year (so far) to offer any useful comments. Well, except that getting Chase 17th is insaaaaaaaaaaaaane. XD

I love Tyler Boyd, but Tennessee's o-line was one of the worst in the league last season and they didn't exactly improve it by leaps and bounds in the off-season.

You mean by drafting the #2 LT available? Signing a very good veteran center, and adding THE BEST oline coach in nfl history?

Yea other than that they did nothing at all to improve the OL.

I think he's saying that one of the worst Oline's in the league isn't just going to turn into a top10 unit unless *drastic* changes are made. PFF still grades them pretty low for 2024.

Only the Jets made such a jump, but it was in part because of their injuries last year, while also drafting Olu Fashanu, and signing Tyron Smith, Morgan Moses and John Simpson. Their entire starting Oline will be 80% different (and upgraded) from what it was to end last season.. only a healthy Tippman was there, and he was a rookie. It took all that and it still only bumped them like 15 spots.. and us fans are also still skeptical lol.

You're right, they improved -- Latham and Cushenberry should both be solid. But Callahan just doesn't have much to work with on the right -- Randunz (the third most-penalized player in the league in 2023...nine false starts and two holdings, five sacks allowed in 11 games) and Petit-Frere are barely starter material. It'll be interesting to see how the situation develops, but I believe that even with their new additions, Tennessee's gonna allow at least 50 total sacks this season.

The Bears defense vs. Tennessee is an absolutely solid fantasy play this week.

Well I was watching the games at a friends' today but I left after the Bengals loss because I was so irritated (also my stomach's a little too upset to socialize much right now, but that's not game-related). I'll never not be grateful for UK basketball, but being a lifelong Reds fan and (by default) a Bengals fan is rough. XD

The Bears D scored a ton of points against Tennessee today (in my league, Chicago ended up with 30 points). I had Dallas vs. Cleveland so I didn't end up picking them up, but I hope one of yinz grabbed 'em and played them.

Ooof.. "My guys" aren't looking too good. Scary Terry, mcbride, olave, London.. all put up duds. Unbelievably really. I feel like game scripts killed my guys. And I saw two kick/punt returns take away points as well.

Hoping I can win 1 of my 3 leagues this week. But even that isn't likely.

Fantasy, you fickle bitch.

Yeah I started both Olave and Scary Terry. I left Godwin on the pine or this one would have been over already.

I feel like I said this last year with Gibbs though.. who started out doing nothing basically for the first 5 weeks. Chemistry takes time. Just hate losing these early weeks which IMO are kind of "gimme" weeks.

IMHO the first few weeks are the best to lose. There are so many injuries (due to players being full-contact for the first time in several months) and other shakeups (mainly fringe players losing their starting spots due to poor performance and/or breakout performances from guys who aren't on anyone's radar) during the first few weeks that it's good to be high on the waiver wire for 'em.

Admittedly Tennessee was cruising, and then Levis happened.

Holy Smokes that was embarrassing. J-LO vs Florida OMG WTF how did that happen.

That one play was insanely awful.

It was preceded by an awful fumble with complete unawareness.

17-0 and lost 24-17 without giving up an offensive TD.

Our line was excellent as we ran through them the first half, and our defense was top notch.

Truly unreal how the QB blew that game 100%.

See, I think they're the worst, even if they are the most forgiving. Because for me, I believe what's holding me up in Week 1, 2 etc, is knowing who to start, because I usually have a young team. So last year, as an example, I kept getting the wrong guys before I was able to say "Ok this guy is my starter, not this other guy".. and because of that, I took on some early losses.

So for me, I love winning these early weeks, if I can, because I think it's such a crap shoot. I mean, look at all the duds from the top30 or so picks.

I didn't watch. But do you think it's just Levis being inexperienced? Or is he truly bad?

I had my eye on him because I have a lot of mobile QBs (which I'm starting to regret, as passers), and figured he'd be a nice sleeper to *potentially* be a top12-15 QB type.

So I’d clearly been having a few beers when I checked the score of my game yesterday. I was down 15 not up 15, lol. So cooper Kupp and Kyren Williams dropped the hammer on me. Unless I get a five touchdown performance from Wilson and Hall, I’m killed.

Yeah thats why I missed the 2nd half of that game lol. The beers got me and I was already up at like 5am yesterday. Went to bed and all 3 leagues flipped on me.. the ones I was winning, I'm now losing, and the ones I was losing Im now winning, Kupp was huge for me, and now Puka is out..

So with week one in the books, how did y'all do?

I won 144.1 to 98.1, and I started Chase Brown. lol

Inexperienced. The INT was legit JLO vs Florida bad. The fumble before hand a corner blitz came all the way across the field since we rolled the opposite way of the blitz.

Just bad play when honestly we were running all over them in the 1st half.

Not to deflect from what was Levis fault, but on the final drive he laced a few ropes that were perfect for junk plays.

The block punt changed the momentum and Levis fed into it really bad.

3 for 3 in my leagues.

I got lucky. Not enough guys on sanfran showed out and same with the Jets. I won each league by less than 10pts.

Moody slayed it for me too. Holy shit, 26pts.

So who are y'all targeting on waivers this week? Any sneaky picks?

Here's what my league's wire looks like. When I saw Tom Brady, I searched for Aaron Hernandez, just for kicks, but unlike the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center, ESPN didn't leave ol' Double A hanging around. ;)

My opponent this week has Cincy's defense. The Charges D is probably gonna hammer the holy heck out of the Panthers, so I might try to swipe the Chargers just so that my opponent doesn't -- but I'm tenth on waivers and my opponent's sixth, so I doubt I'm gonna get that lucky. I've got the Ravens vs. Las Vegas, though, which might be the best defensive play of the week, so I'm not complaining.

How is Jameson Williams on Waivers ? I would swipe him on up and drop either Coleman or losivas. JMO.

Yeah Jameson Williams is gonna be a stud.

In one league I was able to scoop up Jordan Mason right before CMC got ruled out.

Another league I grabbed Jaylen Wright in the event Achane gets injured (and I think that might be inevitable).

That same league I got Mason, is a work league and some of them are still new. We use $100 in FAAB for bids. I got Likely for $36, JK dobbins for $6 and LAC defense for $1. No one else put in bids more than 0.. so while I got the guys I wanted.. they were all essentially free haha.

Wilson would be a nice handcuff to Mostert and Achane instead of Wright, IMO. They BOTH stay injured, Wilson is a nice back and had some really solid years in San Fran.

Probably right, I think people are picking Wright just because he has a higher ceiling than Jeff Wilson.

What a mess last night. Not only Tua, who probably should retire honestly. But Tyreek/Waddle owners are in shambles. And I'm not sure that won't apply to Achane eventually.

Colby Parkinson is a good pickup at TE. He ran the most TE routes last week and Stafford likes his TEs. He's filling the Higbee spot as he's on IR.

If you think for a second that the team facing me this week doesn’t have Alvin Kamara starting, you haven’t been paying close enough attention to this thread.

Edit: he also has Devonta Adams and Marvin Harrison, JR going against me today. I took a whoopin. I hate fantasy football.

It's probably the weirdest start to a fantasy season that I can remember. Probably the most big-name injuries, offenses struggling to score, and dozens of busts in the top100. Only the guys in Green are playing to their draft ranking and/or have a favorable situation for this year so far.

CMC - Injured, I bet he's not fantasy relevant until next season.
Tyreek (,and Waddle) - Lost his QB, he's gonna be a bust for where he was drafted.
Ceedee - Looks fine.
Breece Hall - Looks good, but might not make it all season with this usage
Jamaar Chase - No camp, looks bad.
Jefferson - Looks OK, but still shaky with QB situation
St Brown - Shaky start
J. Taylor - Looks good, but again, no big gains yet.
Bijan - Plays tonight, looks better so far.
AJ Brown - Missed game 2, injured.
GWIlson - Doesn't look great with Rogers looking like an old man.

Kamara killed me in one league. The other two are just out of reach for my opponent.

Feels like the leagues winners are really going to be whoevers team is healthiest, and also who won the waivers.

Speaking of Waivers.. one league STILL uses reverse draft order for Waivers to start.. which is absolutely absurd. So naturally, the guy who drafted 12th, because that's the last pick, was rewarded #1 on waivers, and therefore got Jordan Mason with the 1st option..

Meanwhile, the person who drafted 1st, has the 12th Waiver, and probably won't have a legitimate shot at a good Waiver until week 4 or 5, when almost all the top talent is spoken for.

Worst part is it's a buddy who runs this league and I've been trying to get him to change this for 2 years. Funny enough, HE was the one who got #1 waiver.

Carson Steele will be a good waiver wire pickup with Pacheco's injury. 7 carries in the game after the injury to Pacheco. Perine 0 carries, only targeted 3 times in the passing game all season.

I weirdly seem to be fine with RBs across all 3 leagues.. and it's WRs that seem to be sucking for me.. go figure.

I think the big waiver target for me is that someone dropped Jaxon last week, and I think that was a dumb move. He was inevitably going to take over for Lockett.

Bucky Irving is up there with the Rachaad White injury
