South Carolina or Georgia if reports are to be believed, one of those 5th year transfer things. The turnover machine, he had 22 INTs/lost fumbles in '14, eventually lost his starting job at ND. Sat out '13 with academic problems. He[s from Myrtle Beach.

So what do you think, does he make either of those schools stronger? You out there Grumpy?

Grumpy will be able to answer, but I don't think he could beat out Ramsey in Athens....

And Spurrier/turnover-prone QB won't mix well either.

If I were Gholson, I would likely look elsewhere.

so if sc is interested then i guess all the hype about their young guy is bs huh?

Yup! Complete BS, they desparately have been working the waiver wire for a QB for 2015

LOVE LOVE LOVE for Golson to be UK's opposite QB in week 2!! But I have complete confidence no matter who is under center for USCjr that our beloved UK Wildcats defeat Steve Superior a 2nd straight season.

Little doubt in my mind that Golson would acclimate quicker with the 'Dawgs than the Chickens. Why? Power running game. Much easier for an experienced (but new to the system) guy play in a system where he can repeatedly hand off to a guy like Chubb. Similar to Russell Wilson's transfer from NC State to Wisconsin. Wilson was a (much) better passer but Wisconsin's bread and butter is the power running game. Now whether the Dawgs "need" him is another matter. I'm sure Grumpy will have some insight.

Peace

I would be thrilled with either of these destinations, but I see South Carolina more than Georgia because the kid wants to throw a football, and USCjr. has an opening there. I doubt watching Nick Chubb run 30 times a game appeals to him.
Having USCjr. in week 2 with a turnover prone Golson would be amazing.

That would indeed be good for UK. But TOBC is demanding and impatient with good QBs; there is no telling how he would react with a mistake prone QB. In all likelihood some Gamecock fan would get an unexpected souvenir visor! That's why I say he would "fit" better at GA than USCjr.

I'm not so concerned about how he reacts later in the season to a mistake prone QB, as much as I am that he doesn't find out just how mistake prone Golson is by the UK game in week 2. He could be fed up with him and kick him off the team in week 3 as far as I'm concerned, but in week 2, let him throw 2 or 3 interceptions.

There was speculation at one time that Braxton Miller could end up at LSU. SEC could be getting 2 experienced but flawed QBs.

This was a little story on UGA's board yesterday and as of yesterday evening UGA hasn't shown any interest, I think this is Golston talking about where he would like to go because both of us are close to home and both will be starting first year starters this fall. He left Clemson off the list but they return a starter. But even if the UGA staff was interested, I would be shocked if our "admission panel" would admit him with the academic issue he had at ND. This panel was formed as a result of Jim Harrick bring in kids who shouldn't have been on a college campus to play BB. So with any kind of red flag in their history we don't admit them. Even without that, not sure he fits what Richt wants out of his qb, not sure what our new OC is looking for yet, but very likely the same qualities Richt does or he wouldn't have gotten the job.

FWIW, another site says he's visiting both schools next week.

The kid has a degree from Notre Dame, yet can't pass the UGA academic panel. Man, that is strict! Ghoulsen is a really good player, who turned the ball over trying to make plays behind a banged up line. Put him behind a high quality line, with a power running game, and he might be pretty darn good.

He also missed games at nd for academics and some schools may not want to take a chance on a kid that is not cam newton.

Academic panel might be a bad name for it, might not even be the real name of it, but what it does if any kid has any ethical or morality issues in his background they don't accept him. Golston was caught cheating at ND and suspended for a year. That would be his big issue at UGA.

As for as visiting next week, I am sure they wouldn't tell him not to come, and I could be 100% wrong, but I think there is less than 1% chance he plays at UGA next fall.

Doesn't the SEC have some rule about accepting players who were discipline by their former school? How does that work?

Yeah. It's the Jeremiah Masoli rule. If you are suspended or expelled due to academic fraud or violations, then you have to have a waiver signed by the SEC to compete immediately

That is where my guess is he ends up. But there could be a snag there too, I have no clue of the ins and outs of the agreement ND has with the ACC, because of their associate status or whatever its called. But that status might block his transfer to FSU, if ND chose to do so. Texas is another place I have heard he could be looking at, with the SEC's rule against transfers with academic issues and if ND has the ability and chose to use it to bar his transfer to FSU, Texas might be his destination, so much for getting closer to home.

I watched Ramsey play against Louisville in the bowl game and he looked terrible. He seems to have very poor command over his throws. Golson would beat him out in a minute. Aside from Vandy, Georgia has the worst QB position in the East.

Ramsey played in a run offense in HS, he was completely lost trying to read a defense and took very few snaps that mattered this last year. He is very likely our starter this fall, for whatever reason the RS Jr Faton Bauta, the staff doesn't feel he is the answer. Ramsey has a bigtime arm, best punter on the team and kicked a 58 yard field goal in HS. Probably the best punter on the team and it isn't close, he is a former multi time national winner of the Punt Pass and Kick competition, great athlete but playing qb in the SEC is coming hard for him. But we had bad qb play last year, he just didn't turn it over very much.

I just don't think Golson will get in at UGA, regardless if the staff wants him or not. With the running game we should have, our qb won't be called on to win many games. We return 4 guys who have played a good bit, Sony Michel was running ahead of Chubb before he broke his scapula last year, plus Keith Marshall and Brandon Douglas. I am not expecting great qb play and you could be right, but I think USC is going to be right there with us in qb play this fall. Neither has played much and neither looked great when they did. But like you, I think Golson would be our starter this fall, but I don't think he will get past our admissions planel, we dismissed a kid for doing almost the exact same thing Golson did at ND so him at UGA is very unlikely, at least that's how I see it, but my opinion means less than UGA's, our mascot.

im sorry but i see a big drop off in qb play across the sec this year. could be the achilles heal of the league. i dont think uga is gonna be in worse shape than most of the league. with the run game they have and what should be at least a very good D... i'd say they are not gonna bend any rules to get in a kid unless he's cam newton good. richt is a qb guy. he put absolute average qb's in the nfl with a couple years of coaching. his teams may lose 1 or 2 games a year that make you scratch your head but the guy can coach qb's and he apparently is really good at recruiting/developing/using rb's.

i could see sc making this move if the qb weren't so TO prone. can you imagine spurrier with a transfer guy for 1 year that is gonna avg 2 TO's/game? that guy is gonna have his will crushed by the 3rd quarter of the first game. i dont think this is as slam dunk "to the sec" as some think. would you rather season up young guy with potential for the future or roll the dice on a guy that couldn't make it in one of the qb friendliest offenses in the country?

Golson updates, visited FSU Mon, surprise visit to Florida tues, maybe visiting Georgia or maybe not, Steve Superior says flat out USCjr not interested.
