Don't get your hopes up but Chad Ford reports Bam/Briscoe still 50/50 or undecided

Briscoe can have all the minutes he wants next year.. I like the guards we add.. But they aren't on Monk and Fox's level..

Also, if Bam comes back.. I imagine we lose out on Bamba.. I'm fine with that (although it means Bamba goes to a rival).. But is everyone else.

They will declare for the draft. Test the waters and get their evaluation. The real story is whether or not they're going to hire agents and if they pull out. With the way the draft is set up now, none of the players really have anything to lose by testing the waters so long as they don't sign with an agent The feedback they get will be hearing from the horse's mouth for areas of improvement. Why would Briscoe declare for the draft last season but not this year with those new rules in place? Should they come back, Briscoe could be the featured PG finally. Bam can learn the 4 spot, develop an outside jumper which will be needed for the NBA.

A returning 5* sophomore in hand is worth two 5* potential freshmen in the bush.

I'll take Bam returning over the Bamba uncertainty at this point, if forced to choose.
Does that make a returning 5* junior (Briscoe) worth three 5* potential freshmen?

PG: Briscoe / Green / Alexander
SG: Diallo / Mark Smith? or Alexander
SF: Knox / Vanderbilt
PF: Bam / Washington
C: Bamba / Humphries / Richards

Bench:
Wynyard

Best roster ever? Only SG is raw but a junior Briscoe could help that. Alexander Richards and one of Washington/Vanderbilt returns for 2018
not enough scholar ships

I'm probably in the minority, but I'll take a sophomore Bam over a freshman Bamba 10/10 times
I love Bam, but we really need Bamba! It would be great to have them both. I don't see how Bam would keep Bamba from coming. Bam should be a 4 anyway!

Would be awesome to have Bam back.

But, would you rather have sophomore Bam back and Bamba at Duke or Bam to NBA and Bamba to UK?

Tough choice and not sure what I think.

Chad Ford is a moron. Nothing he ever puts in writing comes to fruition..No way Bam is staying..He is looking for hits on whatever site he operates.

Bam needs to play the 4 to improve his stock, IMHO.

Needs to come back and put in work on his ball handling and jump shot.

Cal has proven he can turn a back to the basket guy into a stretch 4 with Patterson. Bam could do the same.

I'd say both are gone, but would like to have them back plus Bamba and Knox.

Briscoe, Diallo, Knox, Adebayo, and Bamba would almost have to be the best starting five in the nation next season. Green, Alexander, Vanderbilt, Washington, and Richards make for a deep bench.

I just can't see Bam and Briscoe coming back. Hope I am wrong,

Ive said it from the get go...PJ Washington is the best forward in the entire class. We havent had a player like him in a long time.

The problem with Bam is that he seems to only be about 6'8. He's an explosive above the rim athlete though so he can play center in college. I think there are questions about his size at Center in the NBA.

We already know the concerns with Briscoe. If you arent tall and lack elite athleticism, you better be a dead eye shooter. He is a great ball handler and has a great build physically, but its tough to see his game translating to the NBA at this point.
He could play the 4 next your beside Bamba or Richards.

Duke is losing so many players, I'm not sure they can be a factor unless they land BOTH Bamba and Knox.. and even then, still more players can leave.

Bam is a known commodity, and a great one at that. You never know which players are going to struggle for parts of the year.. or even most of the year.

There is ZERO chance that Bam and Bamba are at UK next year. If you could have less than zero chance, that's what it would be. The only way Bam comes back is to play the 4. Coming back for another year at C does nothing for Bam; the only way he improves his position is to show a face up game. And I think this could be really beneficial to him, similar to how Thomas Robinson greatly improved his stock at KU.

But Bamba has openly said he wants to be a 4 as well. In fact, he said one of the attractions of UK is that they already have Richards to play the 5. He said something along the lines of "I know they already have a good center, so I won't have to worry about that."

just wondering..

Chad ford really have true connection to UK players?

A better question-who in the hell does Chad Ford have any connections with? He's a complete fanboy who was caught going back after a draft and fixing his "mock" draft to be seen as more informed.

Go with what you know/have been told. Why in the hell is Cal lecturing NBA teams on "passing on Bam" if he was staying?

Cal mentioned 8 players gone--and that is conservative--I still expect a transfer to take place after other guys commit.

Chad Ford has no in with UK. He doesn't know anything he said (Fox and Monk have one foot out the door--they are GONE) and GARBAGE like this clown getting his uninformed opinions put up by UK outlets will be used against them in recruiting and then Cal and Staff have to deal with this crap.

If getting Bam back means losing Bamba then give UK Bam back... He's proven, he's experienced, he's talented and when I seen that video of him and Fox crying after that loss it gave me chills... Bam is a winner, he's been through the wars and nothing better than to see a young man comes back for his sophomore season to get what was took away from him in a championship!! Bam is what Kentucky is all about, if he chooses to head to the draft then good luck to him but he chooses to return then I would take him over any other Big available!!!

The more I watch Quade Green, the more I want Briscoe to come back.
Basically said the same thing and a few holier than thous on this board had a meltdown.

Kid will not be able to get UK out of the first weekend.

IMHO, Bam is a power forward in a stretch 4 NBA. He needs to develop an outside shot. He needs to see if he has the ability to do what Patterson did with learning how to play the outside some.

Briscoe is what he is. Another year at UK won't hurt or help him other than this year is a guard heavy draft.

How miserable you'll be next year.

Me, I'm very excited for what he brings to the team. All star games be damned..... [winking]

Bams gone and should be. No matter what some anonymous source says, he's not lasting beyond pick 20. Probably a top 15 pick. Maybe top 10. His last few weeks showed alot of skill, combined with insane athleticism.

Briscoe could actually benefit by coming back as PG and work on his shot. Offensively, he kept us in the game the first half versus unc by scoring and creating. I just don't know if he can ever improve enough to overcome his lack of vertical

I agree about Briscoe. Although I think he got plenty of minutes the past 2 years (32 & 30 /gm). But he would be more important to the team, than in the past 2 years. Would probably be our PG for much of the game., and then have Green come off the bench for 20 min.

Bam certainly could affect Bamba's decision. But not necessarily. Bam is not a 5. He is a 4, that we played at the 5 this year. He certainly won't be a 5 in the NBA. If he returned (I give it a 25% chance) then I think Cal plays him at the 4, and plays either Humphries, Richards or Bamba at the 5. Cal likes length, and we won't have the guard depth or shooters we've had the past 3 years so we won't play a 3G lineup for a 3rd straight year.

Bam probably should and will, enter his name, not get an agent, do some workouts for teams, get the feedback on what range he might go after those workouts, and decide then whether to go or return. If he were my kid I would say if after all of that, they have you in the 20's, return for a 2nd season and put yourself into the top 10. If you are in the teen's (or better) go ahead and stay in the draft. If you are projected in the 20's, it just takes a few guys to slide down, maybe a playoff team takes a player they have lower because they want depth at a particular position, and you fall into the 2nd.
