This is tragic. France has pretty much gone secular and I doubt few people attended the church but as you indicated it is as work of art. Art that can never be replaced. The building itself was architecture from an age that can not be duplicated. Plus all of the contents and artifacts inside. It is very sad
Read that the majority of the stuff was safe. Probably had it moved due to the renovations going on.
A horrible loss. It was a magnificent example of architecture and contained many artifacts, relics and artwork of the times. 12 million people a year experienced it’s grandor.
