D-League

Good morning folks. Lovely weather in Campbell County yesterday. And lovely so far this morning. Letting dad sleep in as long as he can. He's still not doing well emotionally and psychologically. But between me and a brother and sister we seemed to distract him for a while yesterday, and I hope we can again today.

He still loves watching baseball and there are four(1) playoff games today, so that'll be good.

Hope you all are having a restful Saturday.

Good Sunday morning everyone.

We get a look at our new Bball players this week. I'm looking forward to seeing the new team/coach.

UK vs Vandy....a game to watch now. We have a chance to turn this season around after the dud against S. Carolina.

Everything is going good here. Hope it's the same with all of you.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 70°F and clear. Heat dome expected until at least late next week if not longer. Today's high expected around 95°F.

Heckuva day in college football yesterday. Plenty upsets.

Got hair cut. Meh.

Austin City Limits festival happening this weekend. Crowds too big for me.

Wishing y'all another peaceful Sunday.

Reminds me of a Yogi story. Yogi and Joe Garagiola grew up as neighbours in St Louis and played baseball together all the time. Both were Cardinal fans. I forget the amounts, but the Cards offered Joe a couple of hundred bucks more than Yogi. Yogi knew he was better than Joe and he told the Cardinals that he had to have equal money to Joe. The Cards said no, so he signed with the Yankees. The Cardinal powerhouse teams of the forties featured HOF players Stan Musial and Country Slaughter. For a few hundred dollars they failed to add Yogi Berra.

Kind of reminds me of D shift on the 366 SPS in Turkey. We had one guy who mostly worked law enforcement. He had a chart in his locker with all the offenses he could write someone up on and all the ranks. He was trying to fill in all the boxes. Some of us were sitting in the barracks drinking a few beers. Ever once in a while, he would hit his right leg as hard as he could. He said his left leg hurt and he was just trying to even out the pain. His goal was to be a civilian policeman after his discharge.

Played coed softball yesterday and was playing against a team that had the son of a man I played with many years ago. He and I played on the same team for over 10 years together winning a few state titles along the way. I was pitching and he (the son) hit a line drive that was low and right at me. It took me off of my feet, but I got my glove on it and made the catch for the out. As I was getting up, he ran out to me apologizing as he did not mean to hit it at me. I knew he did not mean to and told him I was alright. We won the game anyway so...

Not long after the game, his father came in from the parking lot saying, "Hey old man, are you OK?" I told him "Yes, why do you ask?" He told me that his wife was at the game and called him (he was golfing) and told him his son hit at me and knocked me off of the mound. He said he was there to get on to his son for hitting at me. I told him "No need, I am part of the field and that his son apologized anyway and said he did not try to do it." He said, "Yeah, but he should know better than to hit at you Mac."

We stayed out there after my 2 games were over and watched his son play in their second game which was after mine and just caught up on a lot of stuff. Enjoyed the day.

Sunny and 77.2°F on our way to 88°F. It was 60°F when I got up at 6:00am. It is supposed to get down to 46°F tomorrow. Wow that will be a 42° turnaround.

Brutal football is played in the SEC. Ark takes out the Vols!
Boy what that predicted 42°F was off. It is 55.0°F now and The Weather Channel says it is supposed to top out at 72°F.

Could not go back to sleep after 4:00am this morning. I hate that, But @AustinTXCat @BBUK and @warrior-cat have already beaten me with posts.

Old habits and all waking up early.

Place was loaded down for the service. (We have three services plus a Spanish service normally. Only one service this day.) They took the dunking okay had two different waves baptized. Seemed to be about twenty people.

The BB almost in the center of the upper pic. He's a good boy. Him and Papa had nearly matching shirts and pants.

Good morning folks. Back in DC area after my weekend in Kentucky. Dad is still struggling emotionally but I hope it brought him some comfort for me to be there.

It was a grueling drive back yesterday. On what must be one of the busiest stretches of road in American - I-70 heading for DC and Baltimore and the intersection with I-79 to Pittsburgh -- the interstate was shut down for some emergency repairs, with many lanes squeezed into one. Traveling four miles took me almost three hours. And a trip I routinely make in a fewer than eight hours took nearly eleven.

But it is sunny and cool in the east. Got in a long run this morning, and feel good. I hope it is a good day for all of you.

BB on the front row but strategically placed behind someone???

Yeah, he plays soccer with the boy in front of him and goes to the same school as well. they found out they go to the same church too. (The BB's "Ama" had him in front but due to his height...someone moved him back.)

Thanks everyone.... I AM thankful...

The BB DO know how to have fun and tease....

But, that is Papa's baby...

Good morning from ATX. Currently 70°F. Expecting another high in the mid-90s.

Hurricane Milton: I've a brother living in Orlando, another residing in Plant City, between Lakeland and Tampa. Several cousins down that way in Orlando area. Gassy and his wife also in Sarasota area. Couple Army buddies scattered about local vicinity. Concerned and worried for all. Praying.

Wishing y'all a good day.

Good morning folks.

Chilly and clear in the east. Lots of stars out as I finish my walk.

Some fun baseball last night. Loved seeing the Tigers get a clutch homer. Yankees are struggling. This second tier of series may go the distance.

Hearing two Barred Owls hooting back and forth in the moonless darkness. What a sound for October.

Have a good day folks.

Good morning everyone.

I got to watch the Pro Day yesterday and I think we will be fine. There seems to be a real emphasis on defense. One thing that I noticed and won't be talked about much is that the freshman from Harlan...Noah seemed to be very confident that he belonged at UK. Also, the older players seemed to know that too.

Going to pick up litter as soon as it gets light enough to see (and be seen).

I hope everyone has a great day.

Morning Legionnaires!

60° this morning with the high in the low 90's expected.

On Milton, my wife's father, mother, brother, one sister, and 2 nieces are in the path as well. They live just outside of Ft. Myers which is right in the middle as the projections go right now. Hope is that it slows down before it hits landfall there. Prayers to all there. With the lack of a competent response from the federal government on Helene, it will all be on Desantis and his government to take care of those in Florida on this one.

Going out this morning looking for a new phone for the one that got wet on Saturday as I was fishing. It went belly up and is kaput. Insult to injury is that I got no bites either as I was there at the lake in my town for at least 2 hours before I waded out too far for my waders. Thing is, I normally (every time in fact) leave my phone in the truck except for this time and have never waded beyond my waders before this. Fate/supposed to happen?

Well, you guys enjoy your day and be safe.

God Bless.

Edited: Wife just informed me that her family lives in Cape Corral Florida which is right next to and closer to the beach than Ft. Myers. Not really much of a change locally.

I have cousins in the Ocala area and my sister has a place on Sanibel Island that is getting close to being repaired from the big hurricane a couple of years ago.

My favorite place to vacation is on the Gulf Coast north of Tampa....Crystal River area. It was hit pretty hard by Helene.

Has anyone heard how Sawnee Cat faired during Helene?
