No sir, we don't race this time of year. ........I have rabbits that I am raising...................ducks to butcher.........I have in the last 14 months basically built a 8' x 44' racing loft for my birds. It takes a few hours a day to take care of my animals..........unless the weather is below freezing.......then I make several trips a day back there to give them water........there is also much to do on the lofts before Valentines Day........and not many favorable days to work outside probably........then in my spare time I am pouring over pedigrees.........planning for the upcoming breeding season........I have entered six birds in some money races.........got to time them just right for those races.......the last two days have been spent making home made keilbasa and bangers............I try to get on here and read the last page...........I know.....inexcuseable.......I had a POS HP all in one and it was junk.....so I kind of got away from being on it so much.......I just got another Dell touch screen..........and there seems to be a very disgruntled fan base......just a reflection of today's what have you done for me today society..........I have given up on sports........other than the sport of pigeon racing and I don't really keep up with that beyond what is happening in my local club........

Ali-Norton 2, interview/ weigh-in with Johnny Carson...

I was not able to see every fight that Ali had but I think I was able to see Ali's fight against Terrell forward. Anyone can say whatever they want about Ali but he never ran away. He faced whatever he did. One United States President cannot say that.

I was in an insurance class with Ali's mother-in-law. She gave me his address. A regret I have is, I did not write him. His mother-in-law told me he'd answer.

To show what type character Ali had, this was after Ken Norton broke Ali's jaw. Just before their second fight...

(I boxed some in my younger days, had my nose broke four times to prove it. ;), not sure I could converse with anyone that broke my jaw... Just me I guess... I know they made some good dough on Carson.) (My ignorance for fighting black guys with ten inch reach advantages. I got my licks in too though...What teenagers will do...)

Good morning D-League.

The great Canadian songwriter Ian Tyson has died. I've loved his music since I was a little kid. I especially associate his music with the days I was a late-teenager off on my own for the first time working pipeline jobs out west. He seemed to capture the lonesome feeling of that life.

Here's one of his classics, below. I was about to make some New Year's resolutions when I saw he'd died. And one of the prefect lines from this song popped into my head: "All these things that won't change, come what may..." I'm not saying don't make resolutions, but there are all these things that won't change, whatever we do. We've just got to figure out how to live with them with grace.

Good advice. Living with grace and being thankful for what you have, My needs have been provided so my wants are secondary. If I can not come by them honestly, I will do without.

Morning Legionnaires!

35° this morning with a high in the upper 50's expected and sunny skies.

On the subject of Ali, I met him a couple of times when we lived in Louisville on Fernwood Ave. The family down the street with the last name of Snyder were friends with him. Their son and I played a lot, and he told me one time that Ali was coming over for dinner (it was a Sunday). I did not believe him of course so me and a few others waited in front of their house and sure enough he came. He was very cordial to us and talked for a little bit before going into the house. He was/is my favorite boxer of all time. Power of a heavyweight, savvy boxing skills of a middleweight, and the speed/quickness of a lightweight. The complete boxer.

Well, need to go out to the shop and workout (been laxed last couple of weeks) and then shopping later on this morning. Wife and daughter want to shop for after Christmas deals then on to a Mexican restaurant for lunch.

One more Ian Tyson song and then I'll let you all resume your lives. What I loved about his songwriting is how universal a lot of it is.

In this song, most of us have been the young guy spiriting a girl out of her father's home without any regard for his feelings. And a lot of us have later been the father for a daughter who doesn't like the guy she's with because we were "Just as wild, in a younger day..."

Good morning all,

I hope all are well. I look forward to this day.

My Darling and I will hit the road around 11:30. The plan is to take My Darling to dinner at a place we frequent. The 24 hour restaurant.

This time My Darling will order something she did not even realize they sold as she had always ordered what she likes, unbeknownst to her this same restaurant sells something she likes even better and My Darling hadn't had since we left San Antonio in 2012, and also in Korea in 2015. (The last time I remember her eating it.)

For lack of knowing the proper name, she plans on having Goat soup.

I am thankful as I love pleasing My Darling. I sure do not do that as often as I like but I do give it the ole college try....

Starting a new post as I wouldn't soil My Darlings name by placing it in the same post with Cal.

The Cal mantra of being the best version of yourself... Yeah it seems nothing but words to him and a punch line none-the-less.

That is in essence my resolution. I am my own worst critic. I watch myself, mistakes, you better believe my horrible nature as I combat it every day.

To Cal, I know it is just a mantra. Why? Because he does not practice any of what he preaches.

He has not changed. Not one bit. How can he do that, knowing exactly his own results and record?

Yeah, he's changed many's generational poverty. But at what expense.... He could have done that and perfected his coaching craft at the same time just as easily done what was necessary to keep UK at the top and even made UK better. He surely had the talent but he is no manager of anything.

A good manager can do multiple things and do them well without sacrificing "production". Cal could have performed both ending many's generational poverty AND keeping and enhancing the greatness that "was" UK. Cal has tarnished UK via his own small-mindedness. I could type much more but am stepping down from this soap box....

Cals legacy which I seriously doubt he cares about at this point or Cal in his warped mental state thinks he has a legacy to be proud of....his legacy of money to his own family, and the players he thinks are thankful to him for their positions in the NBA. (They are not, the players know better than Cal, what Cal actually did not do )

The irony is, Cal is too dumb to know that his players know who he is not. Heck his players parents know who he is not. His players come back to UK for UK, not for Cal....

Good afternoon everyone.

I've been busy and also like to avoid any B-ball forums/pages during times like this. I just don't want to get too involved in the negativity for lack of a better word. I quickly move on after a loss and it works much better for my...well, everything.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend and has a great New Year's Eve and New Year. I can tell you right now I won't stay up for it. I will more likely ring in the New Year at 2 or 3 AM when I wake up.

Good Last Football Game Day for Uk of the season

69° with some scattered clouds and it will top out at 80° by mid afternoon. Chance of some scattered showers. It feels good.

I am looking forward to the fireworks in the neighborhood. Two families across the lake try to out do each other and we all get to enjoy it. Some are so good they look professional. Spectacular.

To be honest, I was a big Levis fan...guy was a warrior no doubt, but I'm looking forward to the bowl game because I think it will be interesting to see a possible future QB...whether we move the ball and so on.

Probably better for the future of the program that the backups got all these bowl game practice snaps...it might end up looking really ugly or we might be pleasantly surprised.

I am looking forward to the same. I am sure we will not see anything close to what our offense will look like next year but I am still very interested in how we move the ball.

One thing for sure the offense has to improve in 2023. We can't have what we had this season. It would be nice to finish out the year 2022 with a win over a Big 10 team.

Good morning D-League. Out for my longest walk since the surgery. Going for eight miles. We’ll see.

Warmish and very foggy this New Year’s Eve. Quite lovely actually, along the small lake where I am hiking. Everything is just a gray and brown impressionistic smear.

Go Cats. Not the excitement I would have predicted a couple months ago for either Bowl Day or the Louisville game —Nevermind both.

Huge day for sports. Too bad the Alabama game comes on at the same time as UK's doubleheader. Really looking forward to the CFP games today as well. The SEC needs a boost given their dismal 2-4 start. Still 5 games left (hopefully 6) to turn things around.

Yeah, I will be watching the football game for that purpose, and it will be the last UK football game of the year. I can always watch UK screw up more basketball games going forward.
