D-League

Good morning folks.

Just saying hello before heading out with my wife for a hike.

Cloudy and cool for now. A nice Saturday despite the Reds falling apart. When I was a kid, the old folks would describe some who was exhausted, falling apart and headed for the end as "He's had the lick." The Reds have had the lick. No energy, no aggression.

Get 'em next year. Have a great day.

VH —oh yeah, I was well aware of that. Had to take the long way around to Dayton/Bellevue a time or two. Glad to hear they are reopening that route.

In my teenage years we used to go out to a drive-in along that stretch when Pike 27 had boring flicks. Was it called Dixie? Or Dayton? Also there was a good steak house along that stretch. Can’t remember the name. They used to have the All-Conference basketball banquets there. I went to 2 of them (slipped that in) -first fancy steak dinners I ever had.
Riverview Drive-In & F&N Steakhouse. Ate there several times. Was quite good as I recall. Too little traffic to survive I suppose. Went to Tacoma Park pool many times.

MD, don't know if you knew Mary Ingles has been closed between Tower Hill Rd & Brent for 4 years, but now Ky Hwy Dept has plan to repair & reopen it thru from Dayton all the way to Silver Grove:

For those unfamiliar, pretty & convenient route along OH River in Campbell County. Bert, CSX line runs parallel to road. Road has constantly been sliding down into the Ohio ever since they raised the river pool with the Markland Dam at Warsaw. Don't know how they've been able to maintain the rail line.
We don't have many choices! We can't just go out and spend endless sums of money.

Edit: the railroad used to use a lot of pilings so that may have also helped.

Ah yes! The F&N Steakhouse. First real steak house I ever entered. To me, it was like Charlie Palmer's in DC at it's peak, or Gallagher's in NYC, or Jeff Ruby's on a good night. They had this homemade salad dressing that was thick like Bleu Cheese dressing but had a flavor more like Thousand Islands - 50 eyers later I still remember how good it was.

And yeah, the Riverview Drive-In. Pike 27 up on Route 27 in Cold Spring was the go-to, but Riverview was a worthy second choice in the years when going to the drive-in was a weekly thing in the summer and fall.

I am still hanging on to hope that when we get Green and Lodolo back with Ashcraft and Abbott (minus yesterdays anomaly) they can reboot and catch fire like the pre All Star game winning energy.

I like your attitude Warrior. I can get defeatist when it comes to the Reds. Oddly, I'm not that way with the Cats. I guess long experience.

There was a pond long side P-27 that I gigged frogs in a few times. Also came with "free" Cokes in the shed next to the pond.

No, I understand because the Reds have a long-standing history of showing "spurts of consistency" (Stolen from Magloire I think) and winning only to have my hopes crushed with the normal head shed mismanagement and air deflating trade mistakes.

That was the G version Sir.

I've sure made mistakes in my life but I have sure avoided them too. I have no issue learning by reading and watching others when there is a possibility of avoiding pitfalls.

Of course, I have no issues messing with people in abundance and that brings me my fair share of.............trouble. Just the deviant part of me character... 😁 (I'm an honest pesterer....)

Wow. Reds bring up Richardson a right-handed pitcher from Triple A to start today and his very first pitch was hit for a home run as was his second pitch. Third batter got a base hit, fourth batter a walk, fifth batter a fielder's choice advancing the runners to second and third. The sixth batter hit a base hit two runs score. Next two batters pop out. Nats 4-0.

Looking back on it, it makes you wonder if maybe trading for a couple arms before the trade deadline might not have been the worst idea the general manager ever had.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 81°F and clear. Excessive heat warning remains in effect. Today's high expected around 107°F or so. Couple power spikes yesterday.

Man, these weekends end way too quickly. Monday, Monday. Must schedule another Venous Doppler exam for near end of month.

Wishing all an awesome start to your week.

Got to leave early today. Had a bad weather alert for DC. Hope you are okay MdW...

Took me over 30 minutes just to get off post. the DPW people closed the entire MAIN gate I normally enter and exit from. Just crazy how easily they close that gate...

Working from home tomorrow... Have a great afternoon...

Morning Legionnaires!

Low 70's and windy this morning. Still going to try a few hours of fishing. Have not been out in a couple 2 or 3 weeks now. Too hot. Chomping at the bit to get out.

Reds, ehh, still struggled to get the win last night as Diaz walked the first two batters in the ninth with no outs and the Reds up 5-2. Eventually locked it down. Had me worried for a moment with the best hitter in the game coming up.

Tuesday, probably the most uneventful and boring day of the week.

Have a good day folks, be safe out there and God bless.

Good morning folks.

We had Noah’s own storm last night. It came down like a tall cow pissing on a flat rock for about an hour with the wind howling and thunder exploding.

Clear and cooler this morning. Glad to see the Reds win one. You can’t win 12 in a row until you win one on a row.

Challenging day today. Getting on the subway so I’ll catch up later. Have a good day.

Bok Choy and Salmon above... Ribeye above that with veggies and rice...

The seasoning, oh the seasoning..

Have a restful evening...

Heading to the office in the morning if the Lord doesn't take me home...

Good morning everyone

I've been busy doing stuff that doesn't amount to much so not posting a lot.

We've hiked and kayaked since my last post. Hiking again today over in VA. My FL winter vacation rental was cancelled on me so had to scramble to find an available place. It worked out.

Wildlife Wednesday....we had another visit from the family while eating on the patio a couple of evenings ago. We've seen them 5 times now. So far, so good....haven't destroyed anything.

Morning Legionnaires!

75° this morning with a small thunderstorm having already moved through at 0400 bring a small bit or rain. Needed it since we have not had any in about 3 weeks with 100 plus degree weather most of those days.

Headed for OKC with a friend at 0900 this morning to go to the Century Martial Arts warehouse and eat lunch at the Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant we normally go to when in the city.

Reds...😒

Mike, Mike, Mike. What day is it! HUMP DAY! YeeeaaaaH! That's for you hard workers out there.

Have a good day and God Bless.

Good morning folks. Bumping along on one of the older subway cars this morning. The stories it could tell —I would not want to hear, I just glanced ahead of me and the first three people I see are wearing a masks -one guy with one of those big ones that juts out and looks like a rhinoceros’ snout. I guess there were people permanently scared by what we went through.

Cool and clear in the east. Not much going on in my life but work right now. So I will wish you well.

Good morning everyone.

Raining pretty hard here in SE Ky but should clear up by this afternoon.

@AustinTXCat Enjoy your walk. Have you always been an early riser? I have and still do even though I'm retired. You have me beat by a bit on average not even counting the central time part.

I hope everyone has a great day.
No, not always an early riser except when forced (military service). Formerly a night owl. Huge lifestyle change occurred early 2009 after a stroke.
