Morning Legionnaires!

73° this morning with a high in the triple digits expected for the day.

Nothing much going on other than the normal monster walking, exercise, student training, and honey do list afterwards.

On the subject of getting up early, I have been doing it since I can remember. 0400 has been the norm for me even before military service. Last few days I have been waking up between 0330 and 0400 and lying in bed so as not to wake up my wife. Her alarm goes off at 0430 during the weekdays to prepare for the workday.

Hey, it's Friday eve so...

Be careful out there today folks and God Bless.

As I was posting the post above my wife was reading about protein powders (I get some of my protein from them after my workouts) when she came across one that you add to milk that taste like Fruity Pebbles. No, not going to try it, just thought that was weird. The only ones I like are rich chocolate and dark chocolate.

Good morning folks.

Overcast and humid in the east. All you early risers are on to something. I slept in about a half hour today and am just now pulling into DC on the train —would normally have been in my office about now.

Saw a reference I think on Rafters about professional pillow fighting on ESPN, so my son and I watched that. If ever there was a sport that needed a women’s division, it’s pillow fighting. But watching the men was goofy fun.

Then we stumbled into a documentary about the Holiday Inn Hotel in Sarajevo during the Bosnia war. As dozens of reporters and TV crews were living in that hotel, there was lots of footage of the periods when I stayed there. Randomly, the camera fell on two guys who were friends —one, Kurt Schork who was killed a short time later covering a war in Africa and one, Frenchman Paul Marchand who was so severely wounded in Sarajevo he killed himself soon after. So it was a ghost story.

Made me appreciate being with my son 30 years later watching TV. I hope you all feel some similar moment of gratitude today.

I'm reading on other forums that the great & extremely knowledgeable UK football fan, RV/Randy VanHoose, passed away yesterday. In years past, I knew him fairly well & ran into him at football games, even road games. Not that old. Don't know if he had been ill or whether this was sudden. Knew more about recruiting, the team, the plays/strategy than anyone I ever knew. He used to post on the football forum regularly but not frequently. Got very infrequent in recent years. He was a KY delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention and had a printing company in Russell, KY. I'm sad.

Hello,

Back home, readying to assist my son with some VA things. (Yeah, the son that has been with the VA as a nurse since he came back from IRAQ in about 2011.) (He is on it though, almost a photographic memory but this one needs some massaging so, Ole Dad assists.)

Anyway, use pink, green, and yellow in a sentence.....

...The phone says green, green, green, I pink it up and say yellow....

Good morning everyone.

Off to a weekend meeting in western KY this morning. It should be about a 7 hour drive. There have been many road improvements on that southern route in the last 35 years. Not quite Pikeville to Paducah, but it will be close.

Shew it's getting tough to get work done on vehicles. This time a week just to get it in the doors and no telling how long to get it fixed. It's about time for a new one though (wife's).

I hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning folks. Glad it is Friday. Some difficult work tasks in the morning. If things go okay, I should be coasting into the weekend by early afternoon.

A friend who knew I was spending a lot to send my son out of state to the University of Kentucky sent me a Wall Street Journal article about runaway spending by colleges. UK was the lead example — the WSJ says Kentucky spent over $800,000 A DAY on building projects EVERY DAY for the past decade…You can see the endless construction when you visit the campus but that figure blew me away. I won’t tell you how much it cost me to get my son a UK degree, but no wonder…

Need to get rolling so I’ll check in later. Have a good day.

Back in June we had some hail which put a large crack down the center of my truck windshield and three busted areas (luckily on the right side) of my wife's car windshield and we have finally gotten close to getting them fixed. Next Friday, we go to Safe-Light in OKC for an appointment to get hers fixed. There was such a back log for areas in Lawton which have local companies that do it but have a much longer waiting period. There are still many cars in town that have cracks from two hailstorms that happened three days apart.

Been a busy August day. It is hot and humid.

@awf did not show. I hope he got his birds off all right.
It is a crazy game Bert...I am coming to Smith's Grove today........the only thing is I don't know what time I will be there......one of my club mates needs help with his electronic clocking system......he is Cuban and I know very little Spanish.....but.......I have to cater my training to what my birds GPS info tells me and how they come home.....1hr. 21 min from Cave City.....75 miles.....one of these days........one of these days....

If you can, check out the threads praising RV on the football & HOB boards. He was widely loved.

Good morning folks. Slept in late this morning but headed out into a sunny, cool morning for a long walk.

Tonight is the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. Hope it stays clear. I’d like to see a bit of it. Loved to camp out as a kid and watch the shooting stars deep into the night.

Hope you all have a good day.

Good morning folks. Happy Sunday.

Heading out for a hike. Still looking to get my weight down a bit.

Nice day yesterday spending time with two of my kids and mostly taking it easy.

I tried to catch some of the Perseid meteor shower around midnight but it was overcast and the neighbors had outdoor lights on so conditions weren’t good and I gave it up.

Ill catch up with you guys later. I hope it’s a good day.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 80°F and partly cloudy. Another 107°F day awaits.

- Helicopter circling our neighborhood. Thinking police because of searchlight. Looking for somebody.

- Grabbed Pizza Hut stuffed crust large and boneless wings yesterday. Hit the spot.

Moving out on a hike here soon. Wishing all another great day.

Morning Legionnaires!

75° this morning with triple digits expected for the day. The slight chance for a stray shower yesterday afternoon turned into a deluge of rain and lightening. Needed it for sure and it rained heavy for a couple of hours then, rained lighter but steady for an hour or two more. Had a flowing brook through my side and back yard. Promises to be muggy today as the heat rolls in.

Reds game postponed last night until today. Will be a doubleheader so I will be a couch potato today.

Enjoy your Sunday and God Bless.
