Had a decent dinner and stopped a couple other places and just returned home. Coffee and some Lutz mix. (Found that stuff online cheap.)
Below was our dinner. It's gone now but not forgotten...
A cold noddle soup with a side of beef ribs. It tasted as good as it looks. Again, I am thankful... (The cold noodles were seasoned well. I'd say spiced but they were not spicy hot to eat.) Various side dishes and hot barley water/ tea to wash it down.. A pleasing meal...

Yep and the meatloaf does not improve it all that much. White beans, taters and CORNBREAD is hard to beat.I grew up on white beans and mashed taters. Give me a chunk of meatloaf to go with it and I'm in hog heaven.
BB, that's a hard pass for me. can't get past it looking like a big bowl of wet hair.
Oh we couldn't afford meatloaf, but I can afford it today. We usually had a slice of white bread with our beans and taters.Yep and the meatloaf does not improve it all that much. White beans, taters and CORNBREAD is hard to beat.
Good luck with it. I expect someday to have a new knee. I tilt to the left when I walk and fall if I get up to fast.Been staying inside as well. Had hip replacement 8 weeks ago. All was good until about the 5th week I started having thigh pain. Back to walking with a cane. Seen surgeon, x-rays showed all was good, but still cannot walk without a cane. I see him Monday with the thoughts he may have to do it again, who knows. Had the other replaced about 15 yrs. ago, and nothing like this. Thats why I've been staying inside not doing a dang thing except an occasional beer or two on my swing. Things will get better.

Sir,
I yearn for those now and cook them every once in a while. Yeah growing up beans and spuds were a near daily norm IF I could get that. (I was thankful if I could.)
I eat pretty well now but I guess now production is a concern... back then it was money.

You grew up in a city and I'm a bit older than you. I recall the old out houses at both grandparents house and at our own. Mom and dad grew up in the depression and had to quit school in elementary school, so we didn't have much for a long time. I recall once at a house we were renting; dad was working the night shift at a hosiery mill. Mom worked days. The landlord came knocking at the door wanting rent. Mom grabbed me and ran into a field behind the house to hide because she didn't have the money. With both working, we eventually got a little ahead. Times got better.Sir,

Monkey brains to me.BB, that's a hard pass for me. can't get past it looking like a big bowl of wet hair.
Butter and honey on those biscuits and I am good.No issues.... Those are egg noodles but I see your point, That is the un-mixed version... spaghetti on roids.... Oh, don't worry, it is gone already. It will not attack you. 😁
Of course,
I'm eating some of these this morning..
A big chunk of those are gone too.... I'd feed ya but...

Crazy stuff there...Good morning from ATX. Currently 79°F and clear. Expecting triple-digits again today.
Attended late brother in-law's memorial service yesterday. Highlights:
- One of BIL ex's showed up as service began to "support her daughter" (read: "start crap"). Wife, and BiL girlfriend against BIL ex and her sister. Shoving ensued between all four women. F-bombs dropped. Funeral directors threatened to call police if BIL ex and her sister did not leave. What a mess. Order restored. Service held.
- Talked to wife's cousins for quite a while. One cousin has lung cancer. He saw a doctor in March, who prescribed one-time stem cell therapy. He'd used an oxygen bottle and could not walk across the room without it. Said he thought stem cell therapy was a waste. In May, he removed oxygen and has been comparatively fine since. Luckily, I don't have breathing issues, but plan contacting his doctor soon. Could be a game-changer. One can only hope.
- Same cousin's grandson leaves for Fort Benning BCT tomorrow. I wished them good luck. Happy the young man will serve his country.
Heading out for a hike soon. Y'all enjoy your Sunday.

Good morning folks.
Loving the talk of navy beans and cornbread. My mammaw (dad’s mom) who lived way down in the holler in Bracken County always had beans going in a big pot, maybe some green beans cooked in bacon fat and made the best salty, crisp at the edges cornbread I’ve had to this day.
Long long hike yesterday. I’d registered nearly 30,000 step by end of day. Taking it easier today.
Go Reds. Another day with a chance to take over first place.
74.9°F on our way to 89° with a 20% chance of rain. Last night around 9:45 we got a really good rain (.74"). We needed every drop of it.
Sherry and I watched three movies yesterday. First time in a long time, three in a row, but it was hot and that sounded like a good plan.
Thank goodness I have been married only once. No ex's, no trouble! An occasional ex girlfriend but that is easy to ward off. Low drama is really good.
Your question made me curious, so I did a search. It varies by height, but on average, 2252 walking steps is one mile. Generally, the taller you are, the longer your stride.Geez MdW,
I hit 20k steps and felt I had accomplished something. Thanks for bringing me back to earth. Geez, how many steps on a hike did you do before hip replacement and before you had hip issues if I may ask. Sounds like you are back to near normal but curious as your worst days walking/ hiking seem to be my best. (Admittedly I NEVER had good legs, ever.) I could say inspiring but that would be correct. More like putting a brudder in his place to stay.(Granted, I know I hit many days like those steps in the Army and very probably more most days BUT, I was in my very late teens and early twenties. I sure never counted them... but can guesstimate.)

It was just a bit of a fluke, BB. I take a long walk very early on Saturday morning of 6-7 miles as soon as I wake up and that would have been plenty. But my son was home and late afternoon he asked me if I felt like doing a hike before supper so I said, “why not?” He’s in his early 20s and I don’t think it even occurs to him that I’m a damn old man. Before I knew it, we’d done another seven miles.Geez MdW,

No need as I was never Knighted by the queen.Yes Sir,
I wear a fitbit and keep up with my steps and my sleep daily.
The Army never would give me 6 feet, I was always 5'11" my strides though were smaller as my trunk is where the length is in my height. I wear 30" inseams. Friends of mine who are shorter than me wear 32 and 34" inseams. Just the way I was built. From previous reading I think Ole MdW is a tall goomer (In my Best Granny Clampett voice.)

I got to thinking too. I know the ages of many of you and solely due to your ages I use Sir as that is proper. I know WC and MdW are older than me as well but for some reason do not use that title as much with them. I will change that as I never meant any disrespect for sure. Not sure why I didn't as much either, just what I did...
I am feeling everything right now. Just got back from a full day of moving my friend's brother's house which had a lot of stuff in it including a large marble dinner table and a grand piano. Couches, refrigerators, freezers, beds...you know the story. My whole body is sore now and more so shoulders and legs. Back too. Working on my first drink and feeling tired so...will probably fall out before I finish it.It was just a bit of a fluke, BB. I’m past the age I can do that multiple days in a row. Feeling it in my legs today.
