Get her one of these. They can go on planes, trains and automobiles because they are considered medical devices. There are many types including light aircraft aluminum ones that are pretty sturdy. Just can't have the ones that conceal anything.

A chunk piece of one of these in each car or hand bag.... They will make a believer out of one up to no good.

Do you need med papers for proof that you need it?
Not that I am aware. At our age I don't think they would ask. If she has ever had foot problems looked at by a doctor it would be on record anyway. I have one in each vehicle and walk into many places with one. I have one made of aircraft aluminum which is practically unbreakable. The Robaina Raven.

Are canes allowed on planes? Canes are allowed on planes, as they are considered mobility devices and are therefore acceptable to bring onboard. Regardless of flight class, airlines do not consider canes as carry-on or personal items. Passengers have the option to check their cane by itself or along with their luggage if preferred.

I also read where there are no regulations against canes, they just suggest letting the flight attendants store them if you can.

Correct. I carried my Komperdell trekking pole (hiking stick) on all three return flights this past year.

Morning Legionniares!

77° this morning with a high of 101° expected. Triple digits for the next 7 days or so.

Not much going on today, just the normal walk, workout, and Miyagi do.

Reds tried to blow it last night but held on in spite of themselves against the Brew Crew. One more with the Brewers today and that is it with them (I think) unless we meet in the playoffs.

Hump day for ye toilers and wanderers. I be not one of those. Be careful out there folks and God Bless.

Good morning folks.

Austin, I hope you get great news this morning.

Big win for the Reds. They just could not afford to get swept in this 3-game series with the Brewers. The optimist in me looks at it this way: One more game all year against Milwaukee. And against all other teams the Reds are something like eight games ahead of them. (The realist on me is just enjoying a season where baseball will matter at least into August.)

Heading for the subway. Hope it’s a good day for all.

Hello all,

Been a day. Just busy...

If you've a mind, say a prayer for My Darling, we have a new appointment for her back with a new Dr. in McLean, VA Friday. The appointment was set for August 23rd but an opening came up for Friday. I am thankful...

Not sure of the outcome but it may be My Darling needs surgery.

Have a restful evening....

Good morning from ATX. Currently 79°F and clear. Today's high expected around 102°F.

- Shark Week got old in a hurry for me. Happy when over.

- Doctor receives MRI results today. I think she'll call if anything serious.

- Wife stopped at corner store yesterday. Somebody scanned credit card and erroneously charged $590 to AT&T. Glad CC fraud department caught on so quickly. Modern problems.

Wishing all a great day.

Good morning folks.

Austin, it sounds like at least for a while no news is good news for you, so I’ll hope for no news.

Just another day in steamy DC. Heading downtown on the subway then will get to stay home til Tuesday morning.

While my life is in a rut my kids are taking advantage of their freedom. Older daughter is at a conference in Montreal. Younger daughter is off with her BF on a quick trip to Iceland. And son went back to Lexington to tie up some loose ends from his last year at UK.

Gotta grind this one out and the week will feel less oppressive. Hope today is good for all of you.

@cordmaker : Below we find a picture of Waco, Texas, with Baylor University on the left. IH-35 is the long stretch of pavement. The horseshoe-shaped structure is McLane Stadium on the Brazos River. Snapped the photo on July 10.

Thank you ATX! HOW far is Waco from Fort Hood? It will ALWAYS be Fort Hood to me, don't care how many times they change the name! FHM, Fort Hood matters!!!

I was thinking that when we were training there that some of the guys went to Waco on the weekend, the others went south to some place called Boys Town!!!! Lol!!!!!
When I lived in Copperas Cove, we drove up to Waco couple times. Dr. Pepper Museum and Texas Ranger Museum are cool. Visited again late 2009 when Baylor played Nebraska. Walked all over downtown area. Heh, seemed abandoned in places. Much better now, from what I hear.

ATX, I am praying for you every day!!! Never met you, would like to some day! If I never do meet you, thank you for being a cyber friend and fellow D Leaguer!!!! Keep giving them hello over in the PT thread!!!

Good morning and Happy Friday from ATX. Currently 80°F and clear. Yet another triple-digit day coming up.

@cordmaker : Thanks! I'm returning to KY in November. Perhaps we'll make a trip out your direction.

Finally watched "To Kill a Mockingbird" in its entirety last night. Well deserving of all accolades.

Wishing y'all an awesome end to your week.

Morning Legionnaires!

75° this morning with light winds and cloudy skies. 50% chance of rain this morning. Triple digits last couple of days with more for the foreseeable future.

Kato, our Manx cat, brought in a 2 1/2' Garter snake into the house yesterday. I found it behind one of our couches in the living room. It was still alive but not in real good condition. I took it out front to the ditch by the road and put it in the culvert out of the sun. Went back later and it was gone so...That is not the first snake that cat has brought into the house.

Normal day today as far as training and cleaning the house.

TGIF for you grinders so, suffer the day and grind it away until you hear the beer calling you near. Heh, heh, heh I made that up. Feel like Little John in Robin Hood men in tights after that one. "A toll is a toll and a roll is a roll and if we don't get no toll we don't eat no rolls" Ahhh, the simple things.

Be careful out there and God Bless.

Good morning folks. Taking a break from a busy work day to check in.

Enjoyed the chatter about Copperas Cove and Waco. Had some good times at both spots, I did a "long embed" with then 2-star Gen. Ray Odierno in 2003, which meant I lived at Ft. Hood for over two months with soldiers getting ready to deploy to Iraq. I then flew over with them to Kuwait (it was supposed to be Turkey, but their parliament vetoed that at the end.) I felt it was a necessary commitment if I wanted to do the job right and treat what the soldiers were doing with respect. While there I became pretty close with a light colonel running a battalion who lived in Copperas Cove. Had some pretty cool times with him and mid-level officer buddies.

As for Waco, when Bush was prez, no one but me wanted the duty of hanging out and covering him during his vacations at Crawford. So I'd go to Waco and drive back and forth to the junior high gym in Crawford where the press was staging. Easy days. I'd get up real early and run along the Brazos out to Baylor and back from downtown a couple times. Very pretty along the river as the sun was coming up.

I see the Cats are scouting some Euro bigs. Hope they can sign that kid from Croatia. He sounds like a beast.

Have a good day folks.

My friend is from Jordan. He has two degrees in Math in Jordan, then moved to the U.S. and got three more degrees. Undergrad at Troy State, Masters and Ph.D. in North Carolina. The Ph.D. is in statistics. He speaks arabic, french and english. I can't speak english well.

He sees me every July before the fall semester starts. We used to work on a web site together.
