D-League

Good afternoon everyone.

I made it back home from a week at the lake. We caught a few fish, hiked, got some work done, watched some good movies, and ate good. I got a tree cut that had died and close to the garage/boat. It had to come down and thankful that I did it without destroying anything
.
Scrolled through this morning before a Doc appointment and hopefully didn't miss anything big. Good to catch back up with everyone.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Can you beat an 8lb Brown trout?

It is 76.3°F on our way to 86°, no chance of rain.

Those hail storms are something @warrior-cat . Will your wife's car be totaled?
I doubt it, but will have to wait till the insurance adjuster makes a decision. I am sure it will take a bit since many people in Lawton have the same problem. Every woman working in the front office of the dentist office this morning were talking about how long they are going to have to wait to get their vehicles repaired. A couple of them had busted windshields too. A lot of damage yesterday and Elgin had the same problem Monday.

Pics or it didn't happen...

Good afternoon all,

I hope you are well.

Been working with our water here. Seems we have a leak of some sort. Had the water company out, the builders... won't go into details but have a fight ahead. No issues in the house unless it is under it but in talking with the builder GM, who I trust. I think the issue is with the meter. Yeah a brand new meter.

This is also dealing with the municipality and the water company here. I lived about seven miles from here and my water and sewer was at or about $57.00 quarterly. Now I am being told my new service is about $95.00 a month due to our abundant water usage. Yeah, I will win but it will be a fight but that's okay. I may make it better for everyone in this joint as I will not take the difference as the cost of moving.

So you can maybe understand a little (If you care), Fairfax County Virginia where I moved from and still own that home is in the top three most expensive counties to live in the United States from reviews I have read. Not buying the American Water service in Prince William County telling me it is very proper to be paying around six times more for service. We shall see....

. . . .
One big reason to live in rural Kentucky. Most folks are honest, especially plumbers and builders, because the government keeps them honest.

My water and sewer is about $40.00 a month (sewer is expensive because we live in cave country and the Feds don't want human waste in Mammoth Cave). Kentucky has 95,000 miles of streams/rivers, second only to Alaska, so we have good water that we take for granted, but it is good and not very expensive.

Garbage pickup is $15.00 a month (I wrote the contract while I was Mayor).

Electricity and gas is some of the cheapest in the U.S.

But yet folks call us dumb hillbillies.

God, I am glad I am a dumb hillbilly living in Kentucky. I have lived in Maryland, North Carolina, Florida, Indiana and Texas and the hillbilly State is still the best by far in my view.

I lived in Kentucky about 21 years Sir. No argument from me...😉

We have a Subaru Outback. There's a lawsuit going on over a parasitic battery drain in Subarus. Every time you want to drive it, it has to be jumped. I know nothing about cars, but through some internet work, saw where someone said pull the DCM (starlink) fuse. Just drove it a while, got home and stopped. It started. Maybe that's it. Don't use starlink anyhow, but my wife's remote start may not work. Oh well, it's better than jumping it.

Just back from the Commissary and PX.

Bought a few things but real happy My Darling got a pair of the HOKA shoes. (Supposed to be the newest craze for shoes.) The PX only had one pair that fit My Darling but they seem to be okay. (Odd-sized feet.) I wanted to buy a pair online but the sizing charts were confusing. I now have some sizes to go on and if these are what she needs, I will get her the exact size off the internet. Weird, weird colors but...

Never had Hoka shoes, but cushioning is very important to me. Have heard a lot of good things about them.

Good morning D-League.

Great night for Reds fans with a road win over the reigning cheaters, I mean champs. Did I read that tv scroll right that Abbott is the first MLB pitcher with at least five scoreless innings in his first three starts EVER? If so, wow.

Saw the discussion about Hoka shoes. They are a popular thing among my friends. I checked them out but at my height (6-5) I was afraid those giant soles would make me look like Bill Walton’s slightly less ugly brother.

I bought my son some hiking/work light boots for Christmas. He was raving about them so I tried them on a hike -both same size - and I loved them too. Just bought a pair —Merrell’s.

We’re out doing a few miles on the Appalachian Trail near the Civil War battlefield of Cramptons Gap. Hope you all are having a good day.

Afternoon Legionnaires!

85° with a high in the high 80's expected with storms rolling in late this afternoon.

Went fishing this morning: Hooked 5 landed 5. One of them was me. Buried a hook pretty deep into the inside of my right arm just above the elbow. One of my big Whopper Plopper lure treble hooks. Had a hard time getting it out. Thought I was going to have to go to the hospital to get it taken out. Pulled and twisted until I saw the barb then knew I could get it out on my own.

The bass were all in the 1 1/2 to 2lb range. I caught 2 off of the Whopper Plopper and the other 2 off of 2 different colored Bass Pro Shop 7 1/8" stick-o-worms. Was going to wait until tomorrow to go but, rain in the forecast.

On the subject of the Reds, they are fun to watch right now. David Bell has some real tough decisions coming up when Votto and the others come back from rehab.

Well, going to go out shortly to get some Billy Sims BBQ before the Reds game today.

Enjoy the weekend folks and God Bless.

The bass were 2lb range, but your ass was in the 200 lb range.

That could be a record! o_O

I can hear the conversation around the water cooler: I hooked that dude but he wiggled off!

Ole wc not telling the whole story....

I heard of rogue gangs of Bass claiming they are now people and "maybe" they were just fishing for wc....

OR

I know wc would NEVER admit that a school of Bass......

Cast back at him, and
Shanked him...

Everybody was Bass-fu fighting.....

Bass dragged his arse in the water too but wc probably got an eye gouge in and shook loose...

Edit: Haven't had a drink since about February.. Can you imagine me drinking? As John Wayne stated to Bunny, I'm doing some thinking drinking...

Good morning everyone!

Happy Father's Day to all of you fathers. No kids for me.

May or may not have posted this one before, but since it's Father's Day and we've been talking fishing. This was about 15 years ago. 37" 21#, we've caught several about this size, but we can't get past it.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
