That's probably a wise move. When I was in my 30's, I had a wreck that really messed up a leg. I had 3 surgeries on it. The dr that did the surgeries quit doctoring later on. He was going to work one night and his wife complained of a headache. He said the take aspirin and I'll see you in the morning thing. When he got home, he found her dead. Though unlikely to happen, you don't want that on your kids.

Everybody in my house got Covid a couple of weeks ago. Like you it was not much more than a bad cold. Just a little lingering fatigue was about all the damage it did.
Good morning from ATX. Currently 82°F and clear. Today's high estimated around 106°F. ATX broke a record high for July 12 at 109°F yesterday.
Beagle pup (Blue) doing okay so far. Wife is not. Blue jumped up on tables and pooped in the house. Normal 10-month old dog stuff. He stays outside from 8:00 pm overnight through 12:00 noon. Our back yard is fenced in. I let him in for 8 hours during heat of the day. Also let him in so I can take big dog outside.

Anyone watch the Reds-Yankees game last night? At Yankee stadium the Reds won what is now their 5th in a row. 1st game in a 3-game series with the Yankees. Yankee Stadium was packed, and they had a 3-run lead going into the 9th inning when over half of their fans left to go home thinking it was over. Top of 9th with the Yankee closer in the first Reds batter was walked. Joey Votto then hit a fast grounder through the infield for a base hit. Now with two on the next Reds batter was hit by a pitch. Bases loaded; next batter (India) hits a blooper to center right bringing in two runs (score now 3-2 Yanks). Another base hit and another hit batsman later put the Reds up 4-3 where the Reds closer Diaz kept the Yankees from scoring. Sorry @MdWIldcat55, if the Reds keep playing like this, you will have a dinner to buy. Yeah, I know, it would be worth it.
During the Reds losing streak after winning a few when I was watching, my Firestick was acting up and I missed most of those games. Now that it has straightened up and I have been able to watch them again (these last 5 games) they are winning again. I told my wife it must be because I am watching them, they are winning, and we must ensure my feed does not go down again.
Thanks for the kind wishes folks, as I deal with the annoyance of COVID. I woke up this morning, and I thought I'd come a long way back, but after being up an hour or so the symptoms are about as bad as before. I guess I'm just going to have to be patient.

Good morning D-League dudes. It is a sunny 80.1°F. At 5:30 am it was a cool 66°, but we are supposed to get to a warm 88°F. I bet we beat that by two degrees at a minimum.

I have been outside working this morning and came in for a bite to eat and to hang it up for the day. I have learned all of the outside work I do has to be in the morning, it is summertime. We have been blessed with nice breezes the past few days but that heat will get you when you add in the oppressive humidity down here. It is great to practice football in if you are young but those days are over for me.
Our temperature is 88° now which is close to our high for the day. We could hit 90° unless the clouds cover the sun a little and the rains come. We have a 40% chance of that.
Bert I hope you continue to improve and am thankful you are going to see the doc. My wife is still in Kentucky at my son's place and he has three flights of steps. She is complaining of pain in her leg now and is wearing a brace. We have 0 steps in our place and if you are not use to climbing that is what happens at our age. But life goes on.

My aunt (RIP) was married to a family physician..........they were at a doctors conference where he was receiving an award..........as he was giving his acceptance speech............my aunt had a stroke..........they were seated at a table with two brain specialist............she had trouble with her speech as a result but the immediate attention by the two physicians didn't hurt...........................
Hello everyone.....happy birthday, and best wishes for the sick and infirmed I have missed............I just don't have time to go back and read all of the post I have missed.......and honestly.......I have missed them........seems like the older I get the more I have to do.........having problems with hip and lower back doesn't facilitate any of my chores.........almost got to take my boat out and go fishing back in the spring........the cranking battery was bad and wouldn't accept a charge......took until last week to find the size I needed.............now the on board charger has went bad.............they say the two hapiest days for a boat owner is the day you buy the boat and the day you sell the boat...............everyone take care and Bert........I will probably be in your neck of the woods around the first week of August.....unless I lose all of my birds before I get them that far from home.............I raise "pretty pigeons"..............If I don't win races and lose my birds I will apply to the federal government for a grant since I am sprucing up the overpass flocks all along I-65 with white pigeons.......

The stairs are literal killers. We have lived in our townhome since early 2017. we didn't like it the first day. Looking hard for one level similar to our home in SC. Real hard to come by here... (I use the stairs as my exercise and am told I should not but darn, I get a workout. Not sure why it doesn't count...)

I came down with Covid last Wednesday, and today was probably the first day that I've felt remotely close to 100%. The main thing for me right now is fatigue. I figure a good weekend of rest will go a long way in solving that. Hopefully you'll get to feeling better in the next day or so.

Hey D-L...posting this late but tonight at around 6:38 ET?, the Moon will be at its closest position to Earth this year. Keep your eyes on the sky and hope Mother Nature doesn't toss in a bunch of clouds.
I'll give you guys a little story from when I was young and stupid. I'm no longer young, but some might argue I'm maintaining in the stupid department. I'd been through several military schools where they tried to convince me of how tough I was. I thought I was ten foot tall and bullet proof. I had a buddy who thought he was King Kong and he was almost as big. In Izmir Turkey, along the waterfront they had these pavions that reminded me of the old west saloons you see on TV shows, except almost everyone was Turkish.
After a night of drinking, we were walking back to catch the last bus back to the base till the next morning. I was walking ahead of him and didn't realize what he did till 25 or 30 Turkish men starting screaming at him/us. Turns out he had urinated on the window of a car and there was a guy sleeping in it. He woke up and looked through the window to a stream on urine bouncing off the glass. Needless to say, he and his friends were upset.
Now my buddy was almost as big as King Kong, but he wasn't going to whip 25 or 30 guys, so he ran. I was in great shape, so I ran along a half a block ahead of him and a block ahead of the pack. I didn't want to abandon him, but what was I going to do? So I stayed ahead but close enough to see what was going on. I rounded the block just as the last bus was taking off. I sped up and stopped the bus and got him to wait on my buddy. As my buddy got on the bus, the pack rounded the corner. The driver goosed it and we sped away with my buddy looking out the back window giving them the one finger wave good-by. I guess the Good Lord took pity on a couple of fools.

Had to laugh out loud Sir. Never in your situation in a foreign land in danger though I have been overseas a few times. (I was kinder and gentler by that time.) I sure did some rabblerousing in and around Fort Bragg, Fort Huachuca, and Goodfellow. (I kept up the standard, that is all I will say...) (This is a laugh after the fact..) 😅 (Oh the situations I have been in.. self-inflicted I might add.)

For you military folks I will bring you up to date on my granddaughter's progress at the Academy. She has only been allowed one phone call since her appointment and will get one more after her physical training is complete. But the AF Academy has a nice feature for parents. They have a "Web Guy" and he posts 100's of photos of the training and parents can keep in touch that way. Yesterday he posted 22 that had our granddaughter in them and I will share a few.
She is right handed but this picture shows her shooting left handed. Another one has her shooting right handed. I had no idea she could do that.
You go girl, you got this.

Sir, what a joy to see a will to excel! This young lady oozes the will to excel. Even in pictures.
She always has that smile and I honestly feel her deep faith in God contributes to that. She has always been a competitor and here she is casting for that big bass as a child. I taught her to fish when she about 4 years old.

He has a place that he picks that he can just pull his golf cart up to and start picking, he also has it set up where he can fold a back seat out and stand on it and get the high ones!!!

Morning folks. Another sunny day here in Smith Grove. It is 75.7°F and is supposed to get to 89° which is a degree higher than yesterday. My electricity bill will be nice this month, plus I have company this weekend so the guest room and upstairs will have to be put at comfortable temps.

Several years ago we were camping on the Suwanee River and a bunch of young boys no older than 10, probably 8 or 9, had tied a rope over a tree limb and were swinging over the river. They would drop and swim back.
The boys had long knives on a belt around their waist so I asked them why? One of the boys told me they had a bunch of gators come at them and they were ready this time. I SMH and said "go boy gig him". These boys were raised in the back woods and you could tell it.

Not too much progress to report in my so-far one sided fight with COVID. Spasmodic coughing is the worst of it right now, along with about every other symptom of the flu. Not in any way dangerously sick. But still sick.
My wife said something interesting to me today. We met in 1985, and have been paired up for nearly 30 years. And she said, “This is the first time I’ve ever seen you sick.”
Its true. The only times I remember being sick since high school were 1990 in Baghdad, 92-93 in Somalia, 94 in Rwanda and the same year in Haiti and 01 in Afghanistan. And I had always recovered by the time I made it home.
Pisses me off to lose that home winning streak to this Chinese gunk.
