D-League

The CSX building in Jacksonville was a chevron shape. My office was in the V. I got six windows instead of 4. I never looked out of it unless there was a ship being docked. After I retired they gave me an album of various things and they actually took a picture of my view.
Now this CSX building in J-ville is interesting. DW was purchasing agent of a chemical plant in Ft. Wright/Latonia KY and had to get tanker cars delivered in a timely manner. The plant service line is CSX. Since CSX, as all RR's, runs on RR time in a parallel universe to everyone else, she was often on the line with the J-ville office to assure timely deliveries. Said that many of the guys she talked with were from NKy & Cincy as they used to have offices there before consolidating to J-ville. I'll send her the picture.

Um….yes?
I hate to throw a wet blanket on the fire........the Director has spent 47 yrs and 15 days trying to get me to be serious or responsible........in my humble estimation she has been a horrible disaster at her task.....so I'm guessing we need to go somewhere and get lunch........someone brought this up last year.......we need some one to........be the organizer..........

@UK82 is good at picking spots. Either side of town is fine with me.

Played golf today for the first time in almost 2 months. Feels like I might be a little sore tomorrow. Back to work in the shop tomorrow regardless of how I feel. Might play again on Friday.

Gators on Saturday Keep rollin!

Pizza day? I'm good with that.

CSX was the result of many mergers. I started out on the L&N in 1968, then we bought a bunch of small lines as the federal government let us. In 1976 the L&N merged with the ACL, SAL, A&WP et.al. and we were called it the "Family Lines". Then in 1985 we merged with the B&O/C&O and became CSX. After that we bought half of ConRail in 1999.

Folks that work for CSX are from all over. Plus in my department the railroad really loved good schools. My co-workers graduated from Chicago, Harvard, Yale, Vandy, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Duke, Trancy . . . . you name it. The bigger the school the more weight it carried. That is why I was always under the gun. My last two bosses were Harvard.

Pizza day!! That's always a good suggestion for a lunch.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 42°F and clear. Today's high expected at around 75°F.

Believe it or not, I might mow grass today. Due to all the ice and rain we received over the past couple weeks, our grass has grown to roughly 8 inches high in places. Might check into mowing after work.

City Recycle could not pick up last week because of ice. Bin nearly overflows with plastic. Hope they pickup today. Modern problems, right?

Lots of college basketball upsets last night. Go Cats!

Wishing happiness and health for all our fellow D-League members.

Good morning all,

Look forward to a normal work day today. (Yeah right.) Too many have their hands and attentions where they do not belong.

I sure wouldn't mind trying some of that Cream Cheese Brownie...

I will settle for coffee and my Apple (And anything else I can find that may be edible this morning.)

Have a great day.

I have this guy in his mid sixties who works for me. A month or so ago he had a zipper accident after taking a leak. After a couple of days, sores started festering. He's been to the doctor several times. Once they put him in the hospital to drain the sores. 2 days ago he said they were talking about putting him in the hospital to do surgery. Says the burning is almost unbearable. He has other health issues and doesn't take very good care of himself, so I'm not saying it was caused by getting the vax, but I have heard of his situation being a side effect. Just makes me wonder.

Morning D-League. Well I told you all inaccurate statements. Number one I said it was cloudy yesterday, when within an hour it was sunny. I told you my two bosses were Harvard, will the truth is it was the last two. In 32 years I had more than two bosses.

It is 35.8°F here and at the moment it is bright sun and no clouds and we are supposed to warm to 53°.

Austin mow your yard and let me enjoy not having to mow mine. That all begins next month; however, I do enjoy mowing.

Had not heard of that as a side effect.... dang

Good morning folks Hope all is well.

Possible good omen to share with my Bengals fans brethren on here.

My wife's college roommate at Maryland eventually ended up as a VP in the hospitality business after a journo career. That means every so often she and my wife spend a long "girls" weekend together at a resort hotel her friend can get room access to. (I'm never invited.)

The last time they did this in Vegas was the weekend that ended with the 2012 NCAA Championship game. My wife and her friend made a middlin' bet on Kentucky and they called me all giddy when the Cats covered.

So, they are off on a similar trip this weekend, and will get a wager down on the Bengals. I hope the outcome is the same - a tipsy, joyful call from a casino floor after cashing a winning ticket.

Newberg is where I was taught how to do stained glass, also one of my best friends just moved there, she teaches nursing at U of E
@cordmaker
I think awf is in Newburgh, Louisville, not the Newburgh just outside of Evansville that you're thinkg of.
I thought the same thing, then did a little research on Google maps.
Not that it matters...

Geez, awf lives where he thinks he is killing moles and ground squirrels when in reality... he is killing... (The burrowers from Lewisville trying to escape...)

Oh Gophers...

Finally came to the house to get something to eat and grab some beer. I've got 36 red tee markers ready for the red paint. That is the last evolution for that group.

Probably gonna play golf tomorrow if it doesn't rain.

Heard on the Jones Show that we have moved up to a one seed for the moment. Think he said Arizona would be our 2 seed. I would rather be the best 2 seed rather than the lowest 1.

I am simple-minded. Just humor me. You have 36 red tee markers ready for red paint. I guess they need to be redder. 😁

They are the red tee markers I made last year. The wood was not cured when I made them and as they outgassed, the paint bubbled up on the ends. I had to sand them down smooth and reapply red paint.

I just got done. 2 coats because I didn't like the way they looked with 1.

5 of the red ones were missing. I found out from dude that runs the golf course that the kids mowing would use the deck of the mower to move them out of the way so they wouldn't have to get off the mower to do it. Little bastards. Good thing they came along this late or we would all be speaking German or Japanese.

They mowed several of them into splinters because they were on the phone while mowing.

Wow! 82-58! Another court storm. How many will die this time?

Michigan should be ashamed. They are better than that. Geez... (They've been cooped up too long.) My Brother and Sister (In law) live real close to Ann Arbor, hope they came out okay.

Heck my sister lives near Trenton, she may have had her door kicked.

edit: Taxes are STUPID this year!!!
