Even better. I can walk to one of the most scenic rivers in Florida and it empties into the Gulf. It is about a 12 mile canoe trip.

I know several people who canoed where the Suwannee starts in the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia all the way down to the community of Suwannee where it empties into the Gulf.

If you do it take a shotgun.

Gator bit, Gator bait, Gator early, Gator late, in any event, better bring a UK Wildcat football player with you too plus the shotgun for ensured survival...

(Yeah, I am actually very busy...)(I took a tangent...)

I made a trip down there a couple years ago, right before the Corona19 pandemic hit. New Years Eve party at Disney World. I didn't stay at one of their resort hotels, but rather another nice place that my brother in law had through one of his timeshares. I spent one of the days at Universal (or whatever it's called) and it was very frustrating as the lines were so long for each attraction, it made it almost not worth the hassle. On the last day, while the rest of the family went on to the parks, I chose to stay on the grounds of the hotel we were staying at and just chill out at one of their spacious pools and watch football all day at their bars; much better for me than battling hordes of tourists, standing in line all day long for a 2 minute ride.

I don't care if I ever go back there. Like others have said, I'd much rather go off the beaten path, and fortunately, I've been able to do that in Florida over the years, from the Everglades to Pensacola....Miami to Jacksonville and just about everything in between; probably one of my most "traveled" states of any other than I normally live. Tons to see besides beaches and Disney.
I doubt that I go back. Since I have 2 grandkids that graduate this May, we figured this would be the last vacation for the entire family. Doubt we can get everyone together after they graduate. However, in fairness, I will say this; The attraction "Rise of the Resistance" is the most unbelievable thing that I have ever been on. It was like being in a movie. Fantastic experience.

We took the entire family to WDW back in late June, for five days. For the 13 of us, and it cost me around $13K. Money grubbers. My last time.
Plan for DollyWood next time. My wife and I went there in early October for a break from our hiking in the Smokies. Saw some good pickers, enjoyed the general atmosphere, and ate about three loaves of the cinnamon bread in the course of the day. I don't know what we spent but it was a pretty light hit.

As for the crowd: I read they average about 95,000 visitors a day. I'd say the number of Biden voters was in the three-digit range, just based on what I read on tee-shirts alone.

We have been there several times and we like it, but WDW was for the grandkids. One last family vacation before the older ones go off on their own and become tax payers.

Happy lunch time fellas
Yearly check up w/Dr. today, she's rescheduled me 3 times already.
My son asked if I would play in his Fantasy Football league with his buddies. Guess who's 6-1 and in first place. I am trash talkin the sh!t out of them. I've just been lucky, but they don't need to know that...

Forgot all about that guy..... must have got swallowed up by one of them sand boxes on the golf course 😧

When I served on federal jury duty there was a US marshal that went by the name of Big Six Henderson.....who was also in the jury pool.......he had many good stories about catching the bad guys....it sure made the days pass as he would sit and tell his stories all day long.....
Believe he spent some time in my neck of the woods chasing moonshiners.

That's exactly what I had in mind; the full length of the journey from Georgia with some camping gear on board. That would be much more relaxing to me than woke Disney.

I took my family the first week it opened and things were so different back then. I got out of there spending about $15.00. Florida residents got a real nice discount and the tickets were sold as A, B, C, D and E tickets depending on the quality of the ride. One of the "rides" was a steamboat across the lake that took you from one side of the park to another. I think it was an A ticket which was the lowest "ride" back then. If I call correctly parking was free.

Now we are talking early 1970's. For the first couple of years after it was open we went at least once a month. It was about an hour drive. We had fun. I never dreamed it would cost thousands of dollars to go but I never thought houses would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars either.

A friend of mine sent me this photo of a black coyote he shot. We seldom see black coyotes around here. He took it to a taxidermist to have it mounted.

Coyotes are another animal that is always open season here. Wild hogs are another

Re wild hogs: I was reading an article a couple of years ago about a wild hog problem in Louisiana. They were making a special breed of dogs to hunt them. I can't recall the breed name, but they were so mean the handlers couldn't work with them. They bred them with boxers to make them more people friendly. If you couldn't guess, I love boxers.

Isn't Winter where the group performed that done the tricks on water skis? Back in the 50's & 60's.....your post almost activated a memory bank........as you can see by my post, I said...almost.........
Cypress Gardens was where the water ski shows were performed. It is now Lego Land.

Winter is the name of a Dolphin that was rescued from the Atlantic waters and taken to Clearwater for rehab. The dolphin, Winter was caught in a crab trap and crabs chewed off her tail. She was near death when they brought her to Clearwater Beach and once she was out of danger of dying a prosthesis in the form of a fake tail was made.

She is now functional but can not be released back into the Gulf waters. The prosthesis is like an artificial leg you see on war casualties. She is a favorite of the children who know her from the movie. Dolphin Tales which is her life story.

BBUK said “can tick bites on dangle berries happen”? Still trying to decipher the other two.

Blame Google... 😅 (I can say it as I used it a lot, but I cannot spell it...) I asked for many a dark beer in Germany and said please every time! (I still remember vividly that you could hold that head of foam in your hand for a bit before it melted through. That darned dark beer was near being bread!)

I'd have had a hard time pulling the trigger on that black coyote. It looks too much like something that should have a collar, tags, and go by the name of Rex or Rover.

I would give y'all a big 'ol 👍 if I knew what your were talking about.
Basically BBUK wanted a dark beer. I told him he had to give me money. Austin said my money was no good (worthless). I told him all of our money was the same (American) so if mine was worthless so was his. Basically and roughly translated.

Below: I lived in Germany for 8 years with the US armed forces. 3 different times. November 1976 to July 1979, February 1984 to May 1987, and February 1993 to February 1995. I am not fluent in German but, I understand a lot.

I habe in Deutchland fur 8 jahre total gewonnt auf der US militars. Drie mal war es. November 1976 bis Juli 1979, Februar 1984 bis Mai 1987, und Februar 1993 bis Februar 1995. Ich bin nicht fliessend auf Deutch aber, verstehe ich viel.

Look familiar @AustinTXCat @BBUK? These lay on the end table of my couch. I have a couple more just in case I decide to get a little practice in.

I honestly may have barfed on some like that. I had a couple days before I had to work and I sure over did it when I arrived. I met a few guys I was in basic with and they "escorted" me around....Beer and wine never missed well with me... (I know I told more than you asked but...)
