I believe that’s it. Sorry for my confusion, I’m getting old and senile. Yeah that looks like my neighbors dogs.
Very good guard dogs and great for the family that wants a home protector. Our mix that we have had for over 10 years now is very protective of the house and us but, she is getting old and moving slow so, I need a replacement for when she is gone so, the one pictured above will fill the bill.

My Guard Dog Pomeranian..... Pebbles... he guarded all the food in the house.

I still miss that dog. He is buried on my property in South Carolina...

This was at our home in San Antonio... He was a goodun...

One more dog post then I’ll quit cluttering up the D. My wife and I met in 1981. When I was about 10, around 1970, we (my family), got a new puppy, from our neighbor up the road. He was a mixed collie. We named him Rusty. We milked cows, and so did our neighbor that gave us the puppy. My future father in law, who I obviously didn’t know at the time, picked up the milk, from both our farms.(back then it was picked up in milk cans). Well, our neighbor gave him a puppy also, a male. When my wife and I started dating, we had conversations about all the dogs we had owned etc. We figured out we had puppies from the same litter, and guess what they named theirs? Rusty. Now, I know I’ve been called a liar and many other things since some just read this. I don’t care. Call me whatever you want. It said to me that she was the one. And, almost 40 years later, she still is.

I used to have a customer who was supposedly a retired mafia. He was a debt collector for Harrahs Casino in Las Vegas when younger. He told me some stories. Guys that worked for him told me he had six Rottweillers running loose in his house and a loaded weapon in every room.

I would fight that dog, for that woman. Then she would spurn me for kicking her dogs ass. I would end up alone and confused.

Why do shit?

Hey, don't worry buddy, you've never been called a liar. As far as you know.

Now that we know that you are connected, I want to do some major crime stuff that you guys do. I don't want to get busted though so please keep our nefarious plans a secret here on this public forum. If you don't mind. Of course.

I wouldn't call him a liar, and I wouldn't call him late for supper...

Good morning from ATX. Currently 66°F and clear. Today's high expected around 91°F. Higher humidity coming.

Wife taking pup in for the ACL surgery at 7:30 am this morning. I really wish she'd waited, but there's increased risk of more tears on the other knee. We purchased a large wire crate and pad for pup yesterday. Those things are bulky and heavy.

Wishing happiness and health for all our fellow D-League members.

Dogs give you the extra time needed to get to the guns if someone where attempting to break in. Big ones especially. We (my wife and I) lived in Lawton OK when we first got married and the area was not a good neighborhood but, we had three dogs. A pit, a chow mix, and a big whatever she was (we did not know) and the people to our right had 2 black labs. In a matter of a couple of months the man across from us (a Lawton police officer), the man in back of us, and the couple across the street to our left (we lived on a corner) had their houses broken into while they were at work. Neither ours nor the man with the labs had ours broken into. The policeman across the street said he knew better with the statistics being that most houses with dogs in those area's did not get burglarized and not long after got himself a Malamute (already grown). Pretty sure he did not have any problems after that.

Not long after though because of other problems we moved to Elgin (a small but growing town) about 14 miles from Lawton where we now live.

Taking mine in to get spayed and X-rayed for possible dysplasia at 0730 this morning as well.

Good morning D-League. Packing up for the eight hour drive back to Maryland.

This getaway to Tennessee was too short. I’m looking at it as a rehearsal for retirement, and thinking I’ve almost perfected the talent of not working.

Hope you all have a good day.

Good morning D

Just finished a nice breakfast of Old Folks sausage and eggs over easy with my biscuits. I will have plenty of fuel to get through the day.

It is 72° and our high should be around 83° by this afternoon with a 55% chance of thunderstorms. My well pump is yet to be replaced I will take all of the rain we can get until I can get a new one in the ground.

I love the dog stories. They are man's best friend, no doubt about that. One of the most enjoyable vacations of my life was to Alaska on a dog sledding trip. We took a helicopter to a glacier and were assigned our team and bonded immediately with these friendly huskies. These were the hardest working dogs I have been around.

Probably has Great Pyrenees if they are white. That is what my mixes are (three of them) but one is an Anatolian/Pyrenees mix and I am doing some research on the Anatolian breed so as to understand her disposition. Some People after raising them from pups leave them with the herd and they find their own food amongst the small animals out there. They are very self sufficient it is said and willfully stubborn about their job. They think for themselves and need very little supervision. Loyal to the family and animals they are assigned to and very big. Below is a picture of an adult Anatolian that looks similar to my puppy who is 6 1/2 months old. She has a little more fur due to the mix but, the markings and look are the same. She is the second picture taken about a month ago. She is already over 70lbs.

On Great Pyrenees, I had a buddy who retired to the mountains of California in the Palmdale area. He had two great pyrenees and they would occasionally bring him a mountain lion and leave it on the front porch. They will instinctually take up with the animals and guard them. Wonderful dogs.

Our older one (half Pyrenees) sits with us when we go in the front yard where no fences are. She stays right with us and will not leave our side. When we get ready to go back in the house she has to always be the last one to enter. It is engrained in them to watch and protect. She has been our protector for over 10 years now. It is time for the changing of the guard with the new one.

Good morning D, read Matthew 15, still trying to shake this leg problem, got an appointment with my hip doctor Tuesday, just hope he can tell me something or reassure me that my replacement is ok.

On dogs, we had a beagle, his name was Briarpatch, good dog! When he was about ten years old, he started having some type of spells, he would start whining, start going around in circles, then he would sit down, his back right leg would start jerking real bad and he would scream at the top of his lungs! It would last about a minute or two, but all we could do is just hold him still. Had to put him down, not going through it again, just can't take it!!!

On the Pyrenees, my sister and brother-in-law had one for their goats. When they got him as a pup they put him in the barn with the goats and left him. It was like he became one of them. I have watched him, he would go out with them, he would find the highest point and just set and watch them. Any type of movement or sound he would start barking, they never lost any goats. They ended up with two of them, great guard dogs!!!!

I hope the D has a great day and Prayers for the D!!!!

My brother in law has a farm in Kentucky and he uses Pyrenees with his sheep.

Read Matthew 15

Had to put 2 dogs down this year. One for old age in June and one riddled with cancer in July that was only 6. Very hard on me but, I will gladly go through it for the time and companionship they give. That and the peace of mind with three or four in the house at night anyone snooping around probably would not pick my house to vandalize.

When it comes time to retire, let us know. Several of us are pretty darn good at not working and probably can offer some tips.

My folks used to raise horses in western Ky. They had a Great Pyrenees. Never brought them a lion, but now and then brought them a deer.

Well I just had an interesting conversation with an irrigation company that will be replacing my pump. Maybe I asked when they could get to it and the man said he had no idea because they can not get any pumps. He said they are probably on a ship off of the coast of California.

That was not an answer I wanted to hear. I let him know the Port of Tampa was wide open and all shipments are being handled without a problem and Port of Jacksonville is not reporting backup problems. I told them I expect them to have my pump in by Monday or we find another company. One that does not depend on shipments from California.

We are not impressed with Joe Biden's America down here and that includes mooring ships off of California. Dock them and unload them nit wit brain dead fearless leader

The ports ARE open, but the admin is blocking transport of the goods from the docks through the unions. They are trying to blame things on truckers that don't want to be vaccinated but the docks are full (according to a friend) and they aren't clearing the docks for new shipments. When you look at the map of cargo ships waiting to dock, it looks like an embargo/blockade or a military map, pre-invasion. All of the battalions are lined up along the border waiting for the signal or the first shot to be fired.

Regardless, someone is trying to shut down our entire economy and use fear to get their legislation passed.

Sad to say, a nickel can't even buy the wood it would be made from these days and it's getting worse Biden day.

I see what you did there.

Hello D league!

Vet called. Gizmo ( the cat) was given fluids. His numbers dropped enough that the vet thinks there is hope. Small chance. He wants to try a few more days of fluids at home and go from there. I told giz if he keeps fighting I'll fight for him.

Off work today. It's the Mrs. Birthday. Wanted to do something but she's been through such an emotional roller coaster she's content just relaxing at home.

Behave D league!

God bless and carry on!

Great news!

I have only owned 2 cats. The first passed in his sleep on his sunshiny nap spot on our back patio mid day. He was a great cat. Pretty decent mouser, but had a heart condition just like his momma but worse.

Didn't have another until my 20s. Another farm cat. Feisty and fun. Played fetch better than my current dog. Could barely meow, but could jump off a wall to catch a moth up to 8ft high. Used to bring em in at night when I was done working a 2nd job. Smart cat. Would wait by the door for me to come home for his moth catching fun.

Ex got him in the split and the @%#$! sent the cat to her mom's house rather than take care of it herself or let me do so. Every time that woman went off on a trip somewhere the cat would come sit in my lap all weekend whenever I was home...

Anyhow, not the reason I posted...

Our cat had a real problem with its kidneys for a while. Started throwing up and being real lethargic. Found out the food we were giving it had too much fish in it (tuna specifically which was the cat's favorite) and it was causing extreme kidney problems. Said I couldn't give the cat any more fish out of a can or canned food. Not even the juice.

Cat was unhappy for a while, but healthy after the diet change and giving it a weird herbal concoction I got from a animal studies student at a CC. I had heard others had good results from it with their animals there and online, so I tried it. It was called Km (potassium mineral formula). Smelled mediciny so I didn't think my cat would touch it, but it drank it like I used to drink Bourbon and whiskey.

Vet was shocked at how quick our cat's kidneys recovered. It actually waited after meals for me to give it more of that stuff. Kinda cool

Don't know where I'd get it now

This one is for our bird lovers. I saw him in a tree in my backyard. He has been here before. About a year ago he swooped down out of the sky, and over the pool screen and dove into the lake for nice fish. We see a lot more ospreys than eagles around here. Ospreys are very common.

My love for this symbol of my country is overwhelming. The strength this creature of God exudes is scarcely remembered as one reason it has endured as has this nation.

I wonder now how this creation of God will be vilified as somehow an object of prejudice.... If it has not already happened, it will. Just a matter of time.

Isn't that stupid.....😥😡

I stand in awe when I see these birds in real life but I'm thankful... "How Great Thou Art"....

I love to see them in the wild. We back up to a wildlife preserve (grandpa called them swamps) and the amount of species of wildlife are spectacular. There is always some form of wildlife in my yard or the lake behind my house. I counted 21 white egrets out there this morning and yesterday a flock of wild turkeys marched single file through my yard. Probably 11 or 12 in the line.

Of all the things that show up, the Bald Eagle is my favorite. And it is probably the least seen. The eagle in this picture lives about 2 miles from me as the crow flies. His home is in a very high pine tree on the Weeki Wachee River.
