D-League

On to a different theme. My old friend from High School that I see a couple times a week came by yesterday. This is what she brought Sherry and Bert.

Please note the weight of the cauliflower. 4 pounds. The onion was a disappointing 1/2 pound, I was hoping for more. The romaine is massive. Kentucky is productive.

Edible Sir!

You've seen gals carrying beer mugs at Oktoberfest in Germany. Here's a similar trick taken at a San Antonio bar in 1948. This man is awesome. Note the old beer cases left.

I see a case of Falstaff in the left corner of the picture. The first beer I drank in my life was Falstaff. Sitting on a railroad track in South Alabama. Dizzy Dean use to broadcast baseball games while drinking Falstaff beer. By the 6th inning he was singing Wabash Cannon Ball.

Speaking of Ty Cobb, this leaves me an opening to speak of my childhood sports hero. Ty Cobb once said that Stan Musial was the closest thing to a perfect baseball player he had ever seen.
.
BTW despite his reputation, in his later years, Cobb was a very nice person, often helping down on their luck former players. He had invested his money wisely and was a very wealthy man. He had invested in Coca Cola and GM on the ground floor.
SM was a great player & human being. TC in that picture is shaking hands with the best player ever imo.

That would be my guess, along with trying to get people excited once again about UK basketball, after the fiasco last year. They appeared at the hospital here because UK just bought a 49% interest in it, this past year.

It will be interesting to see if he interjects racial/political stuff preseason again.

I think he allowed the players to express their opinions and he supported them. It only happened the one time, and then he told them to play basketball.

Maybe, but it carried over into and was a huge part of the worst season in UK history. Blame it on whatever anyone perceives but Cal never had a season like last season. He placated "his" players and what he did was make the worst personal decision of his work life. It cost him dearly. It more importantly caused the UK faithful to have the worst season of their lives. I am as cautious as I have ever been when looking Cal's way to perceived greatness happening with him again. I am not sure he can do it. jmuo

Alan Simpson, the Senator from Wyoming calls senior citizens the Greediest Generation as he compared "Social Security " to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats. Here's a response in a letter from PATTY MYERS in Montana ... I think she is a little ticked off! She also tells it like it is!
"Hey Alan, let's get a few things straight!!!
1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole (tit) for FIFTY YEARS.
2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15 years old. I am now 63).
3. My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give OUR money to a bunch of zero losers in return for votes, thus bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme that would make Bernie Madoff proud.
4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and "your ilk" pulled the proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to age, 67. NOW, you and your "shill commission" are proposing to move the goalposts YET AGAIN.
5. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare from Day One, and now "you morons" propose to change the rules of the game. Why? Because "you idiots" mismanaged other parts of the economy to such an extent that you need to steal our money from Medicare to pay the bills.
6. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why? Because you "incompetent bxxxxds" spent our money so profligately that you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money. Now, you come to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt.
To add insult to injury, you label us "greedy" for calling "bxxxxxxt" to your incompetence.
Well, Captain Bxxxxxxit, I have a few questions for YOU:
1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during your pathetic 50-year political career?
2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the American taxpayers?
3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance?
4. What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or as usual, have you exempted yourself and your political cronies?
It is you, Captain Bxxxxxxt, and your political co-conspirators called Congress who are the "greedy" ones. It is you and your fellow nutcase thieves who have bankrupted America and stolen the American dream from millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers.
And for what? Votes and your job and retirement security at our expense, you lunk-headed, leech.
That's right, sir. You and yours have bankrupted America for the sole purpose of advancing your pathetic, political careers. You know it, we know it, and you know that we know it.
And you can take that to the bank, you miserable son of a bxxxxx.
P.S. And stop calling Social Security benefits "entitlements". WHAT AN INSULT!!!!
I have been paying in to the SS system for 45 years “It's my money”-give it back to me the way the system was designed and stop patting yourself on the back like you are being generous by doling out these monthly checks .
EVERYONE!! If you agree with what a Montana citizen, Patty Myers, says, please PASS IT ON!!!!

Those who work, create, and manufacture or support it, and those who leach off those who do.

I won't watch if he does. I did not watch the first few games or more and then watched one just before the Florida kneeling incident and that incident stopped me from watching anymore for the rest of the season.

Now, tell us how you really feel.

I never thought it possible but i did not watch one uk basketball or football game this past year, and i don’t plan on watching again any time soon. i’ve soured on all sports except for watching my grandsons. i still like to watch golf, which has managed to keep the socialist pc bullshit away.

Same here. Only sports I've watched is gold (especially the majors) and the Indy 500. Don't miss any of them. Havent watched NBA for about 5 years...and will probably never watch again. NFL since the kneeling started....3-4 years. And no UK b'ball after @UF....which I thought would never happen. Doubt if I watch this year.

I don't have a problem with women's beach volleyball.

Today was my little brother's 60th b'day. Time flies...seems like yesterday he was a little guy crawling around on the floor. Remember when he would put on his toy/plastic Army helmet and his toy machine gun and watch 'Combat'. He was diagnosed about 6 years ago with Parkinson's. Way too young. Of course any age is too young for something like that...or any other deadly disease.
He lives in a fairly small, very nice upscale neighborhood outside Atlanta. Most of his neighbors work at the CDC (headquartered in Atlanta). Won't go into some of the things he's told me that they have said about all this Covid the last year or the vaccine. I'll just say that it's not the standard gov't/Dem/Fauci line.

My favorite uncle died several years back.....ever since I was a teenager we would talk before every game.........he was the only one I really discussed UK with........with the state of the college game what it is.......I have lost that pizazz that I used to have.......I record every game and the delete them a few days later.........it just doesn't matter like it used to.........I amuse myself in other ways now......I do read what I can find on them.......this last season finished me on RR......the vitriol was crazy.......I would like for sports to go back like it was when I was a kid......they played for the love of the game...... not how much money they could make or how often their mug is on the TV.....today's athlete seems to be under the mistaken belief that they matter........in reality......they don't....they kneel for some crazy racist cause that wants to destroy them and stand in reverence of a country like China.........I have them right along with the Hollywood elites who think they matter........hell.......they lie for a living......it is their specialty......when they stand up and say something.......are they acting?

For me the floor.

Now the question is: how many mops?

Mike Shannon has been a Cardinal broadcaster for 50 years. I think this is his last year. His nickname as a player was Moon Man or just Moon for short as teammates said he couldn't possibly be from this world. He's famous for Yogi Berra like quotes. Here's a few.

I really love this photo. Reminds me so much of the cool, late spring/early summer evenings back in SE KY. Sit outside, take in the air, drink a couple beers and enjoy those mountains.

I drove from Lexington through West Virginia, then Maryland coming home through mountains with fog such as these. It was an enjoyable drive even through the hard rain most of the way.

Hear, hear!!!

Bless you OC, I'm a little brother that will turn 60 in just over a month. That touched me as if it were my brother that posted this. I don't have severe health problems (That I know of...) but I indeed absorbed what you posted. My brother will turn 70 one week after I turn 60. My plan is to be with him in Michigan for that day.

I still state Cal will somehow have to figure out how to un-kneel for me to get where I used to be concerning UK. I could have easily looked over a one time thing from the players and chalked that up to either bad people or ignorant/ stupid young people. Cal took it to a level I am not sure he can or I can recover from. We shall see...
