A very cogent argument can be made for a warmer climate being a good thing for humanity. I'm not going to make it, but it can be made.

The most exasperating thing about this shit for me is the fact that they cannot prove man has had any effect on the climate. All of the REAL science proves that man has had at most a very miniscule effect. Mainly because of the cities we've built and the ground we've covered with concrete and asphalt.

Gotta go now but I'll be available to bitch about climate change all you want later.

Is it titled "30 for 30: Without Bias"? It's an ESPN film from 2009 and Amazon has some in stock. I'd love to see it. I tried posting the link but couldn't. Kirk Fraser was the director.
UK82 - I think it was an earlier one done entirely as an episode of ESPN Classic. I'm sure the guy I worked with was a "Classic" producer. My recollection is it was done on the 15th anniversary, which would have been 2001. The reason I sorta recall that date is I was new to a job in the Hearst Newspaper (Houston-San Francisco-Seattle-San Antonio) bureau in DC at the time. I have a VHS copy someone (but no player.) Let me see if I can pull a title from that.

82 -- I THINK this is the VHS tape of that show. I can't know for sure because I don't even have a VHS tape player any more. I'm pretty certain it first aired on the 15th anny in 2001. ESPN has done a few Bias retrospectives through the years, and when I did a search on Youtube I couldn't find this one. I've been meaning to convert some old VHS tapes of things like CSPAN and CNN appearances into digital. So if I can get that done, I'll post a clip here.

This makes too much sense. We see it everyday down here. Our major cities are always several degrees hotter than in an area where I live. Where we have marshes and Gulf breezes to keep us cool but places like Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville Miami and Ft Lauderdale are covered with concrete and asphalt. A blazing sun hot enough to melt the asphalt is going to heat up an area. You are going to get a lot hotter at Disney World than Panama City Beach.

A Dodge Ram truck in Kentucky or a Ford F150 in Tennessee has nothing to do with it. The perfect example is Miami. Here is a picture of the Miami River that runs through Miami in the early 1900's

Here is the same location today.

Now there are times when 10, 15 or even 20 inches of rain fall at this location. In a period of a few days. All of the water drains into the river because there are no marshes or swamps (once a part of the Everglades) to soak it up.

So the nation sees water in the streets of Miami and the media prints stories how it will be underwater in 5 years and on and on. Some poor 18 year old kid in college is taught the reason Miami flooded was because man is using fossil fuels. Meanwhile the dang dolphin swimming around the area has more sense than a pea brained Ivy League student

I remember Neal Boortz (talk radio host now retired) talking years ago when 'global warming' first was getting traction about the locations of the weather stations that Al Gore and the lot were sighting to prove their assertions valid/correct. A number of them were placed years before in areas of a city that was not developed...that was now in the heart of a concrete jungle. Hence....temp has risen. Duh!
Also, one was placed somewhere I believe in S. Calif or Arizona at the foot of a solid rock cliff where the sun would reflect off of the rock and beat down on the weather station all day.
COMMON SENSE. It's totally lacking these days.

This the media today. There is no searching for the truth. I have no idea what they are teaching in the Schools of Journalism these days.

It seems the media has an agenda and all they do is present opinions to further their opinion. Little if any factual or investigative reporting.

Wow, what a contrast there. How nice would it be to be floating along the peaceful, clean Miami River in a kayak back in the olden days?

Howdy folks. I have been on Ebay for about a month now selling old car parts. It is a lot of work. Mostly smaller trim parts. This is stuff that's been sitting in my garage scattered about for several decades. Stuff I knew my wife would take to the dump within hours of my death. I had no idea how desirable some of that "junk" was. I have sold over $4000 worth of stuff in a month (44 pieces). Naturally I would share my good fortune with you guys but I don't know any true identities (except Bert of course, but he's already rich).

Good afternoon all,

My Darling and I sure slept in today. It was good for us. Such a sad day yesterday. Yes, I talked to my babies. My Darling and I took a ride and ate lunch at one of her favorite spots.

My God is still in control. Our ways are not his ways. (For that I am thankful.) Bless you all going forward and may your afternoon be a good experience for you. God Bless you all and your families...

Heard on the radio a couple weeks ago a guy talking about a study on world hunger. Huge population increase over the last number of decades, but worldwide hunger is actually down. Study credits the increase in mechanization...i.e. cars, machines, etc...CO2. Plants are thriving and producing more.
These environmental idiots (those who are against cow farts, etc) like most of their ilk use/have no common sense.

Bovines Flatulating is serious business... For the news and those who profit off those cow farts...

All they care about is getting paid. They do not care who they get paid by as long as they get paid. (I state this knowing we have a good one in our midst that I in no way include him in these comments.) He's a goodun...

Git-R-Done Sir! Git-R-Done...

Good morning from Shawanee, TN. Currently experiencing a crisp 35°F and partly cloudy. 61°F should be our high for today. Rain expected tomorrow.

Cats vs Horns for the NCAA Volleyball Championship at 8 pm EST tomorrow evening on ESPN2. Based on highlights I recall back in Austin, Horns played solid this entire season. Cats have a shot. Go Cats!

I'll probably head toward Tazewell later today. Plan on researching 1974 archives some. My daughter works down there for DeRoyal.

Wishing happiness and health for all our fellow D-League members.

Feature-Image-2-OPT.jpg

That's a good day!

Tazewell.... Been there, done that. I think Gary (Virgil's brother) lives in Tazwell now. My dad lived there for a while.

Going to weed-eat my back yard. (It is long overdue.) That is all I use to cut my backyard, my weed--eater. I haven't had the heart to pull out my lawn mower as the yard is so small. I guess I will drink a Yuengling or two afterward. I have held off all week but I have three cold ones in the fridge....(I have a feeling at least two will be gone before the days out. Just a feeling...)

Joe Biden's IQ is as low as a rounding number.

As I told my guest last weekend: I was on the executive board of BRADD (the organizations of 10 counties that disperse federal and state funds for our area). They were putting in the NOAH weather stations. The one for Smiths Grove, like most, is 50 feet from 10 lanes of pavement of I-65.

I had an argument with the NOAH engineer and explained to him that the damned heat magnet of 10 lanes of concrete and asphalt 50 feet away would totally alter (i.e. raise) the mean temperature that he would be getting. I have two very accurate thermometers at my house and the official Smiths Grove temperature (taken one mile away) is always higher, winter spring summer or fall.

He explained that that is what they friggin' wanted.

They, in other words, are paid to prove global warming. They collect data to support the, already drawn, conclusion that the world is warming because of man's activity. I do not have a Ph.D. in any subject but any old country boy can explain why they get high temps based on where in hell they place the weather stations.

I can't stand the lying bastards.

Congratulations to the D-Leaguers who have carried this thread forward to reach 4,000 pages. Quite an accomplishment. Seems like just yesterday we were on page 3,999.

Actually a great deal of wit, wisdom and warmth has been shared here. It'd make quite a book if someone could comb through and collect the greatest hits.

Can anyone or has anyone told us how much the temperature would drop IF we did go along with Biden's 2 or 3 trillion dollar war on "global warming". What would we get for our money?

Liberals are for the most part are very uneducated, oh they may go to college but what knowledge do they gain? So it is easy to push a false narrative if it makes them feel good.

You can glean all you need about the threat of ocean rise when you remember that O'bama bought a house that sits about 20 feet above sea level in Martha's Vineyard. He ain't skeered!

In Louisville the official temp is taken at the airport. It used to be like Bowman Field when it first opened. Now it is 10 times bigger with 100 times more concrete. The temp in Louisville during the winter is always about 10 degrees warmer than it is at my house. Just like it is at most houses that aren't located at the airport.

Speak easy my friend, at the Copa, Copa Cabana, the hottest spot north of Havana. Or, you could kayak.

Yes! I can tell you how much the temp will drop. Nada. None. Not any. All they are trying to do is slow the warming. They know it is going to continue to warm, that's what's been going on since the last ice age. There will be small deviations at times due to solar anomalies, but for the most part we will warm some more before something comes along and cools us off again. Rinse. Repeat. For eons.

Little known fact...Don named his dog after her. He's always been a big Barry Manilow fan. Did you know that Barry wrote the State Farm theme song? He also co-wrote a song for Dr. Pepper. Don told me he has a shrine in his basement to Barry and I think that is sweet. He really did write the songs that made the whole world sing!

Institutional knowledge or wisdom? Hmmm... The difference astounds. That knowledge is fool's gold in many many institutional paths of "learning" but it sure pays them well...
