Thank you Bert!

Good morning D-League. I hope all is well.

Back at work after a long morning walk. The older I get the tougher Monday mornings become. Like a lot of you, I started working young -- 15 on heavy construction sites in my case because my father knew people in that world and I was a biggish kid. That means I've been at it in one form or another right at a half century. That's starting to feel like enough.

Just a case of the Mondays I suppose. On some level I know I'm lucky to have the option. I hope all of you are exercising the option to do as you please today.
Yep, did a 50 minute workout on the total gym with the option to rest the rest of the day afterwards. God I love retirement! Had one of my former Co-workers ask me on Friday if I was stir crazy yet. I said no, my wife does not like my cooking.😛

Bert....is that the type weather station where not only you have the station outdoors, but it can also hook up to the internet?
I've got a little cheap one where we have the monitor inside and there's a temp sensor outside (has a signal of about 400' I think) and that's all. The inside monitor then will read the inside and outside temp and inside humidity. My oldest son is really into all things weather and he has a nice weather station. The kind where you hook up to your internet and then see what your home conditions are when you're out of town. He was also hooked up to Weather Underground (I think) when he lived in Cumming (wildcatdonf and sawnee's stomping grounds)...so I could log on and see what was happening at his house.
Been thinking of getting a better weather station that will give me more info....just for the heck of it.
I know what you are talking about but mine does not hook up to the internet. I have thought about that, but I am too old to worry about it. I have two gauges outside for the temp and humidity; one in front and one in back and then my rain gauge. I installed it June 13, 2020 and you can see that we have had 40 inches of rain in 8 months.

Here is a photo of the outside unit.

I need to get me one of those stations.......I like to keep a close tab on the weather when I start training my birds for the races.....

That one to me looks like it might gather more rain than what actually fell because of the surface area being so big.

Looks good.

Funny you mentioned UK gear. I have been downsizing my UK collection and it is most difficult thing to sell. There is no interest in what once was in high demand.
Same for UK programs, UK media guides, etc. No interest and some go back to the 1960's.
I don't go to the B'ball board like I used to. Hardly ever post anymore....but I do read a number of threads. Someone posted the other day (RunninRichie maybe ?) that they were talking the other day to someone who owned a sporting goods store and he said that the sales of UK items were way down. Now, could be a number of factors...don't know.

What a day. My grandson is at his first day of day care. He isn't two yet until April. I couldn't go with him this morning but his Mom, my darling, and his Aunt, along with his Dad via video-phone were with him.

Just received word from my daughter that he is doing fine as long as he's near his teacher. If his teacher leaves him he starts crying. I count this as a good first day as he has to get used to his classmates but darn I have been tearing up all morning thinking about it. I can't be there for him. Is he too young? I know kids are strong and this one is strong and has a good heart. Just trying to protect him as long as I can... (He may not need my protection but I sure don't mind giving it.) I've had near non-stop meetings until now. I trust the Lord in the small things too, realizing he knows best and loves me.

My grandson share's my office with me. Nothing better than the two of us side-by-side working away on our/my computers. The boy already knows the motions.

May God always allow you all to have the heart and love of and as a child, the strength and courage of a Lion, and the wisdom to know when to use them. God Bless you all during this solemn and somber but thankful day...

grand kids are a whole lot more fun..........

That just made me think of something from I believe 2014-2015 season. I used to post on Rafters under a different username, but just quit after Wisconsin until a couple years ago. I have forgotten almost all the posters that posted them. But I knew when I started posting on the D , that I had seen Bert’s name and had some kind of back and forth with him. I had made up a song to the music of “The devil went down to Georgia” and posted it on Rafters. Something about refs at a Georgia game. I remember Bert wanted to steal it or something. Don’t know why I just now remembered lol.

When I get bact to pickin again......(hope)......I'll have to put some music to your song.......
Know you had a fairly serious accident a few weeks back....was it a finger for chords or for pickin'?

I've always wanted to learn to play guitar, but I broke a finger years ago playing ball. Doesn't bother me and looks fine, but when I bend my fingers on the hand (chord fingers) it bends a little 'off'. Had a hard time getting the chords right because of it....so I gave it up.

I played a lot of guitar, Still have mine close but I haven't touched it other than to dust it off and move it for several years. No real reason, just haven't, something always seems to come up.

Because I am one of the good guys that just loves to argue.

A blast from my past. That is my youngest daughter at her first birthday party (House was trashed, had a lot of people over but the food was great!) so I know this picture is 29 years old. Me, my daughter, and my Dad. I think I just got back from work. (Our home in Radcliff, Kentucky)

Edit: I guess if there is any irony in this post, it is that the baby you see in this picture is the mother of my Grandson I just saw go off to day-care today. He seems to be doing well. His Mom and Aunt, and my darling along with his cousin are out eating. I am able to get a little work completed....

It is in my ring finger on my fretting (L) hand......I saw a guy play the banjo who barely had any fingers....the one he had was so short that he had to reach over the neck vs under........one of the better banjo players I ever heard.....if you closed your eyes it sounded spot on......different if you understand the nuances.........he played for The Mountain Heart band..........this old dog is too old to learn new tricks........it is hard to erase a lifetime of muscle memory.......some of it is almost like breathing

I've got a Martin D-18 V-neck that I normally play every day.......I have to be in the mood to pick the banjo.....it really isn't any fun by to play banjo by yourself.........I've also got a nice Stratocaster.......I haven't had it out of the case in a few years......I rattled some of the Director's crystal off of a shelf...........now it is just a radio for me.....🙁
