D-League

  • Good Afternoon, D-Leagueanites and Lurkers,
  • We have 73º in Cumming. Pretty much perfect weather. Bright sunshine.
  • 3 mugs of Dark Magic doing it's thing on me.
  • Voted yesterday.
  • Lola (that sweet little girl) laying at my feet taking it easy.
  • Haven't seen any wildlife, haven't been anywhere today.
  • FCC has not called. Hope he is okay.
  • We can't beat the Vols. We rarely do. They didn't beat Jawga. Jawga can't beat Alabama. Those two teams are on a different level than we are on.
  • I hear the goldfish jumping in their tiny little pond.
  • Two squirrels almost ran me over the other day on the lower deck. They were this year's, little fellows, Grays.
  • The sore knee feels better today. Progress.
  • The great-grandson came over yesterday. Cute little dude. 10 months old. almost time for his first haircut.
  • Leaves falling.
  • As you were.
  • Best wishes for the ailing,
  • Rave on. (as per Buddy Holly)
Personally I don't see the Cats winning more than 4 games this year. Gotta be realistic. I mean it's all SEC teams they play. They're history isn't exactly stellar when it comes to conference play.

I'd like to arm wrestle that guy. They can re-attach arms, can't they?

Yesterday was the anniversary of John Denver's death (1997). I'll go on record and say that I liked his music.

John Denver made some seriously good music. Went nuts thinking he could sing however he wanted after he made his dough and then seemed to go space-cadet but the boy could sing. I have an autographed picture. (My brother was a corporate jet pilot before he retired and got me the signed picture after flying him around for his company when he was doing concerts.)(I thought about selling it but looked on ebay and they don't go for much even though I never see the picture he signed that I have. John was younger in the picture I have but it is signed Peace, John Denver.)

One thing though................................. That is a mighty "Dainty" picture (above)

Damn. That's amazing that your brother flew him around. I'd think the photo would be worth something. Oh and yeah, really odd photo. I wouldn't be caught dead posing for it.

My brother worked for a large corporation for 33 years. I'd mention the corporation and even though my brother is retired I won't mention the corporation because the flight crew is small enough to know. It was my brothers corporation kind of sponsoring John's concerts in some way during that time frame.

Was in Detroit, I was a teenager at the time. 16 or 17. (I will post it in the next few days. Have to dig up the picture. I have it packed away.)

The only one of this group that I did not see in person, was Harry Chapin. Saw JD a couple of times, JT 6 or 7 times, once with Carole King, and twice with Bonnie Raitt. Didn't get to see Gordon Lightfoot until 4 years ago, at the Paramount Arts Center, here in Ashland, and by then, his voice was gone. By then he was like 77 years old. Wonder where, and when, this picture was taken?

Wow, I saw John Denver once in concert but I sure did like his music. Concerts I really went to a lot of were Bill Gaither concerts back in the 70's. I bet I went to eight or nine of his concerts. I flat out love his music and was blessed to be able to attend his concerts at so many venues growing up. A couple with no more than a few hundred people at best. How blessed was his ministry to write that many songs. Good singer too. Kind of like Dottie Rambo...

(As I stated in other posts God has always had a hand in keeping me out of the very bad element. It always seemed that when I had no way out God would make a way.) My life's message is; I am thankful and God IS Faithful!

I saw JT back in the late 70's, maybe early 80's. Would have loved to have attended a John Denver concert. Really could not even guess where this pic was taken. Shared from a friend.

Good morning D League

Frying a pan of sausage and waiting for the sun to come up. Our temperature is 71º and will creep up to 84º by mid afternoon. Humidity dropped down to 90% and the chance of rain by this afternoon is 10%. We will have plenty of sun and we remain in the Waning Crescent moon phase.

Trust all have a nice day and stay dry. I found this old photo from the 1960's of a local high school rifle team. Back then boys brought their rifles to school and pick ups in the parking lot had full gun racks. During lunch they would head out to the orange groves and have target practice. Back then you could trust a kid with a gun.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 60°F, dry and clear. Wind and humidity picking up. Front due in late Thursday. No rain expected for a few days, possibly even next week. Today's high may reach 94°F.

Long lines at our local voting booths yesterday. Everybody social distancing. My advantage is I walk past the facility during my daily noon walk. I'll try casting my ballot today or tomorrow.

Wishing continued happiness and good health to all our fellow D-League members.

Glad you posted Austin. I'll have to do my civic duty today and at least one serving of each. Maybe two.

Morning y'all

This is the base of "The Senator" that was the oldest Bald Cypress Tree in the world. It was also the biggest standing 125 feet tall with a trunk diameter of 17.5 feet. It was 3,500 years old making it the 5th oldest tree in the world. It was a landmark in Longwood, Florida and I was able to visit it many years ago.

In 2012 it was destroyed by a woman on meth and that was the end of that.

This was The Senator before the druggie took it down.

Read a article this morning on Travis county. Of the county's more than 850,000 eligible voters, 97 percent of them have registered to vote this year.

And I’ll take one of everything As far as the desserts go.

Polling location lines were crazy yesterday. In years past, I voted at work or waited until after work and walked over to the nearby shopping center. COVID changed that.

I've been registered to vote here in Travis County since 03/14/2001 when I swapped my TN driver license for a TX driver license after retiring from active duty. Always cognizant about state income taxes. Anyway, new TX residents are automatically registered to vote.

Fess up ATC. It wasn’t the taxes, it was the craft beer![winking]

Good morning D, just want to follow up from yesterday. Mrs. M got a call from HR and Owensboro Health yesterday.

First HR, she was supposed to have the test done yesterday, but HR insisted on her moving it till tomorrow, so now she has it in the morning at 9:18, which sounds ok, give it more time to see if she has it. "If" she is negative then she can go back to work Monday, funny thing is she is on vacation next week, so more or less she is getting two weeks paid time off! We were walking this morning and she said, these two weeks off makes me not want to go back!!!! Ok with me!!!!

Now here is the kicker!!! Owensboro Health called and ask her some questions, knew it was going to happen. Then he ask her if she had any questions and she says Yes I do!!!! When did you know when she was positive? His answer was Thursday. Her next question was, why then did you wait till Monday to call her and tell her she was positive!!? His answer was I got behind!!!!!! This answer right here is what has made everyone mad!!!!!

Hope the D has a great day, I am done ranting for now, thanks for listening D!!!!!

One more thing, the Health Department wanted her to send him a text so they could communicate with her. She said to me why do they want that, I told her it's so they could put a tracker on her so they could see where you are at all times, she said I will just leave my phone at home then!!!!

Missouri, Vandy, and South Carolina to go along with the Mississippi State win. Tennessee is possible, but history is not on the Cats side

  • Good Afternoon, D-Leagueanites and Lurkers.
  • We had 60ºs this morning causing me to bring a comforter out for Lola. She liked it too. My lap did also.
  • 4 mugs of Dark Magic.
  • QB made a tiny breakfast for W-Don.
  • Insurance people are wearing me out. Answer and hangup.
  • Get well soon if you are sickly.
  • As you were.
  • I like John Denver's songs too.
  • Carry on.

afternoon D
Lunch time...left over roast taters and carrots. Sound familiar.
Meh
Not much shakin'
Hooked up a Soundbar and subwoofer to my TV last night. It does make a difference. It was my 20th year work anniversary gift. I don't plan on working another 20...10 probably.
Went shopping the other day...bought myself a blindfold. Not sure I like it....I just can't see myself in it?

I used to go to a lot of those Gospel Quartet concerts back in the 60s. Saw all the big name quartets in pretty small venues. Being in a very conservative denomination, what was shocking was seeing some quartet members step off their bus and light up a cigarette! We looked the other way because we knew they were Southern Baptist and Southern Baptists were allowed to smoke.

Morning Legionaires!

Too windy for fishing today and tomorrow, will have to wait until Friday. Around 30 mph winds so inside work (house cleaning) for me since wife works. Maybe a little house cleaning and a lot of binge show watching.

"The fishing was so bad today that even the liars didn't catch anything."
