D-League

We have all or at least a bunch of us have tried to help FCC but it hasn't helped he is at least off the street. Financially he could now make it if he would lay of the booze. I have never had a drink in my life. I am not better than anyone who has, but I just didn't want to start in case I couldn't handle it. I have been trying to help him for the last couple of months, but I am done. I will pray that he gets straightened out. I have tried to tell him to go to AA, but haven't had any luck. I have shared more that I should have here but the main thing is he is not on the street and has a chance the rest is up to him.
Good post

It's Sunday night 2020. Here's must see TV from Sundays in the 70's.

Good Monday morning .

Getting ready for a second cup of coffee as I wake up to meet the day. Outside it is 73° and we should hit 86° this afternoon. We are looking at TS Sally in the Gulf and she will go right on by to the City of New Orleans. I would not expect it to amount to much. Nothing Louisiana can not handle.

Now I will headed into the kitchen to check on the bacon frying. And that second cup of coffee. Trust all the D-Leaguers have a great day and prayers are with you FCC.

Morning D-Legionaires. Are we fighting the good fight today? Going to be a slug myself. Weekend was busy so, nothing today. Back after it tomorrow when the bass will be the target.

Thanks for the update Don on FCC. Gave some money to that situation but sometimes believe it is better not to feed the bear. Have a good friend who gambled all of his savings away (half a million) in Vegas after so many trips. Lost his job due to injury and had no money to pay his bills so me and a few others helped him out for a while to the tune of about $8,00.00 from me. Thought he had licked the problem but found out he was still gambling in the casino's that popped up around here on Indian land. Finally cut him off as did the others with me. He hit rock bottom and got some settlement money from the injury from Goodyear where he had worked for years and with the help of a girlfriend has so far stopped most of the gambling. He goes on occasion with a set amount and has stuck with that because his lady friend keeps him on it. He has since paid me back about half and will pay more as he can. Hope he keeps with it.

D-League,
Good morning everyone, I hope this new week finds you all doing well. It's a balmy, 71 right now, headed up to 88-90 later on. I see that the remnants of "Sally" are forecasted to head straight up from the Gulf of Mexico, right over top of us later this week, dumping a ton of rain. We'll see how it plays out over the coming days.

-I didn't watch any football over this past weekend. They did start the season, didn't they? I'm just not into it right now.

-I see where Israel is about to sign a "peace" deal with UAE, and possibly other nations to follow. Call me crazy, but I wonder if this is the beginnings of the peace deal that's foretold in the Bible, the book of Daniel, chapter 9....where the anti-christ "confirms" a covenant with many. For him to confirm it, it seems that there should already be something in place. Could this be it?

-In the Bible, 1 Thessalonians, chapter 5: 1-4 talks about what happens when people start calling for "peace and safety"

-If you're not saved through the blood of Jesus Christ, here is the gospel, found in 1 Corinthians 15, verses 1-4.......
1Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
3For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures........then John 3:16..16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

I am a "whoever" and you can be too......I think that this is our best hope in the wicked, lawless world we're living in right now.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 77°F and partly cloudy. Expecting 93°F for today's high. Another cold front due in later this week. We'll gladly take it.

Monday, Monday.

Wishing continued happiness and good health to all our fellow D-League members.

I recently had an outstanding sandwich from Jersey Mike's....maybe one of the best sub-sandwiches to be found anywhere around here.

It is a hazy start to a Monday morning in Smiths Grove. While I was fixing my coffee the sun was behind a haze and you could look at it without blinding you. It is 66.6°F on its way to partly cloudy 82.

That bull is one big dude. Around here nearly all of the beef farmers use black angus and the bulls top out about 1,800 pounds and the cows around 1,200.

Local rancher taking a small herd of heifers to be "serviced" by a Big Boy. A Brahma Bull can impregnate at least 30 heifers and some say as many as 50. I wouldn't know.

This is the Barthle Brothers Ranch located west of San Antonio, Fl and south of Brooksville, Fl. They sell Brahams worldwide, most to Australia and Brazil and also deal in quarter horses.

Jersey Mike's is great. I usually hit 'em up a couple times annually. Love their free birthday sub offer.

We were Firehouse Subs fans for quite a while, but burned out after a couple years. Still have the app on my phone and points saved. My relatives in SE KY/Claiborne County TN love Firehouse. Subway is okay, but we usually just take advantage of $5 foot longs or new offers.

Locally, Thundercloud rules around ATX and San Antonio.

Man the wife and I sure do miss Bill Miller's. We loved that joint. It was right down the street from us in SA. (I-10 and De Zavala) When we went back to fix up our home to sell it after many years leased out we hit that place nearly every day. Like a whataburger now and again too. (I know OT on the subs but you got me thinking about the Texas food. There are a lot more but those two chains don't come this far.) Of course I lost about 50 pounds since leaving Texas too. Dang I looked like a little feller in Texas... ;)

My wife loves Bill Miller. She grew up near the central Austin location on Burnet Road. I think they are okay. We usually grab takeout from them once every two weeks or so. She loves the ribs. I like either a Rancher plate with sausage and brisket or just a smoked turkey sandwich. They seemed to have survived this COVID fairly well. The old location in downtown San Antonio has been there for years.

Jim's is another regional favorite.

Yeah my wife liked the garnishes (That onion, tomato, and pepper mix) to go with several of their entree's. I liked many of their entree's but liked their barbecue sandwiches (Pulled pork) and I loaded up on that brown bread and butter. I liked their sweet tea. I never drink sweetened drinks but there I did. Jim's is good too... Nice and friendly too. never had a bad experience no matter which location we visited. (I'll stop) 😏 (Groceries)

Good morning D, from the Berg!! T minus Thursday!!!!

I hated to see Mrs. M go back to work today, one more year and she is done!

My S-I-L had to take my daughter to the ER yesterday, apparently she had a reaction to the Dr. upping her BP meds. This is what I don't understand, she upped her BP meds from 25mg to taking two 100mg a day, never heard of that much of an increase, mine was always a gradual increase, she has to call her DR. today.

I have a new permission to hunt an old house that I remember from growing up, my give it a shot today! If not going to be a lazy day!!!

Please keep our law enforcement people in yours prayers, it's scary what is happening to them! I wish my son would find another line of work, but he loves what he is doing.

Hope the D has a great day!

WC, so you are giving the Bass a day of rest!

Ha ha.

Nowadays, Mighty Fine for burgers and Rudy's BBQ, both owned by the same company, have become another really popular regional chain. Rudy's moist BBQ brisket = heaven. My ex brother in-law visited us from Germany several years ago and he loved Rudy's. Ha ha, your "plate" is a piece of butcher paper.

I remember that. Also I asked if they had any bread while going through the line and the guy there split open a bag of white bread and grabbed a handful and put it on my "plate" and said; "Will light bread do"? I laughed out loud and said that is fine! A real good place too!

Whataburger while good tasting does not put enough meat on the bun for this carnivore.

Yeah but they are good. In SA they have a couple mom and pops that will put a burger on your plate you can't finish it is so large. (I know some can). I love groceries and had a hard time. Of course walk into most furniture stores in SA and you see tables and chairs that look like this;

Nothing against Marco but in SA I was a little fella and at the time I weighed around 265. I top out at 215 now.

I might check into Rudy's for takeout tomorrow night.

For best BBQ, must hit up Franklin's or Black's. Salt Lick next to Dell Diamond is great too.

The only place we have around here for BBQ is Billy Sims. People go for it because it is relatively good but also for the name. He played for OU. His restaurant ran two others out of business one of which I really liked but, the best I have ever been to is Willy Ray's in Beaumont TX. Spent a lot of time during the heavy deployments working the ports in Beaumont and Corpus Christi TX, and Charleston SC. Willy Ray's was my go to with Pappadaeux being another. Fudruckers for burgers when I wanted a burger.

Want them to get a little bigger. [winking]

Both Fuddruckers and Luby's are going out of business due to COVID-19. Sad to see them go.

Back in the 1990's I had to attend a school in Texas, to get my Texas license and I was in San Antonio for it. There was a cafe called Jailhouse or something like that and they served a monster of a chicken fried steak covered in gravy, I love that stuff and I would go in about every other night and order the biggest one on the menu. I have been to a lot of places but that San Antonio Chicken Fried Steak was as good as it gets and it was a monster. It hung over a platter. Not a plate but a platter.

Texas knows how to do it right.
