D-League

Wife and I watched Richard Jewell earlier today. Good Client Eastwood produced and directed film. The flick really told the other side of the story.

Watching Lakers vs Trailblazers on ABC right now. I am a Trailblazers fan this series. Carmelo Anthony needs an NBA championship. Heck, he's got 3 Olympic golds and a bronze.

We stayed under triple digits today. Thank you beautiful rainfall this morning.

Hope all is well with y'all.

Good Sunnday Morning D

Drinking a good strong, black cup of coffee before getting ready for church. Might have a few more cups.

The media is trying their best to hype up the activity headed to the Gulf but so far things are pretty normal. We always have our eye "on the storm" but as of now life is usual. Currently we are 72° and rain in the forecast. We should hit mid 80's probably about 85°. It has been awhile since we were in the 90's around here. We are always a few degrees cooler than inland.

One day closer to football. This will be the most unpredictable season in many years. I have no idea who we can beat or not beat. Playing an all SEC schedule is interesting to say the least. Let's play ball.

Have a great day all,

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueanites and Lurkers.
  • No rain last night, Good.
  • 1st mug of Dark Magic going.
  • Watched lots of replays of NCAA Championships yesterday. It was much fun. I loved those teams. Comeback Cats. I was at some of those games.
  • I'm the first one up at my house.
  • No news. Sorry.
  • It's Sunday again.
  • Wash your hands.
  • Rave on.

Oh and I too can say that living in the North Georgia Mts for over 20 years I never heard of or met a Mountain Man who wanted anything to do with raping another man. That was a typical stereotype used by Hollywood and does not reflect the culture of the Appalachia Mountains I know. A great film.
You can get shot doing that, Super movie.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 71°F and clear. Our high today should reach a more reasonable 96°F. There's a chance we might catch more beautiful rain from Tropical Storm/Hurricane Marco. Stay tuned.

Chores on the agenda after a morning walk. Late lunch planned with our usual Zaxby's takeout.

Wishing continued happiness and good health to all our fellow D-League members.

Could 6-headed sharks be ALIENS from an underwater spacecraft (one of possibly many others) lurking in the oceans' depths - who have not yet mastered a less-conspicuous life form in which to make an appearance?

The answer without doubt is in the MUFON files in Hangar 51. OPEN UP HANGAR 51 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Be careful Starchief...ask too many questions and the next thing you know...

I am not used to the new layout but I like some of the new options. But now a like is too simple. We now have to make harder decisions as to another expression. That is hard on an old man's mind.

It is sprinkling rain here but not up to .01" yet.

I hope all of you D-Leaguer are feeling good today. I was going to mow but the rain may stop me plans.

On ancestry, I am English, Scot, Irish, French, Swede, Dane, Russian, Austrian Jew, American Indian and Spanish. The dregs of the earth. My wife is as bad or I should say as good.
As good!

Cuban sandwiches are something I know a lot about. I have at least one or two every week. The funny thing about a Cuban sandwich is they are not Cuban. The Columbia Restaurant in Tampa claims they invented it back in the late 1800's - early 1900's.

The sandwich is a variation of a ham and Swiss cheese that catered to Cuban workers in the Tampa cigar factories. A typical Cuban will have a mojo roast pork, ham, Swiss cheese, salami, dill pickles with mustard and mayonaise. It is served hot and is pressed. It has to be served on Cuban bread to be an official Cuban sandwich. There is a difference.

From Tampa it spread to South Florida, Miami and Key West, where it is served without salami and they add tomato and lettuce. The folks in Tampa say salami was added by Italians who came to the Tampa area after Cubans and they also worked in the cigar factories. It is one great sandwich.

I thought RJ was the bomber at first. Yes, that was a good movie.
I bought the DVD but have not watched it yet. I remember that day very well. My son and daughter-in-law were down there when it happened. They had come down from Kentucky for the Olympics.

The media was vicious and treated him like dirt. He was a white man who was taking care of an aged mother and worked as a security guard. That fit their profile of mass murderer. He almost got railroaded but found a very good attorney named Lin Wood. He is the same Lin Wood that is making the Covington boy the richest man in Kentucky. Thanks to CNN and WaPo. Plus more to come.

Oh yeah, you know I have to reply to this on National Cuban Sandwich Day. The Cuban is my favorite sandwich. We had a Cuban restaurant near my house, but unfortunately, this particular location didn't last. The owner is from Miami and he had real Cuban bread from a bakery in Little Havana shipped up here to Ooltewah, TN twice per week to his restaurant. He still has a location in downtown Chattanooga that's open, but I don't get down there very often.

I thanked him one time for using real Cuban bread, especially nowadays that it's "trendy" for delis and restaurant's to have a Cuban on their menu; the problem is that oftentimes, they'll use french bread. No Cuban bread= not a real Cuban sandwich. Publix deli offers a pretty decent Cuban if you can't find any other options. Sometimes, I buy a loaf of Cuban bread and toast/press it with the Mojo marinade sprinkled on it along with some guava preserves.

It's the best.

Good Monday morning D

I feel good this morning and I love me some peach pie. The one in the picture looks awful good. Well we have a pleasant 71°and Marco is a long way away from us. Looks as if Louisiana might get a visit and then it will whip around towards the Mid South and even go up into Kentucky and the lower Midwest. Today's high should reach 87° with about a 60% chance of rain. As Marco goes by we take a look at Laura.

Meanwhile life goes on. I really enjoyed church yesterday, worshipping with some I had not seen in months. Then we enjoyed some good BBQ and life is getting back to normal. Have a great day.

Morning D-Legionaires. Last week of leave before going back to work Friday and Monday to clear post. Will try again with the tomorrow for the recently elusive Largemouth. Yeah, caught a few this year but, nothing on the level as I had been doing last 2 years. Got to step up my game.

It is a sunny 77.0°F . We are to top out at 88.

I was really lazy yesterday. The biggest effort was to fry up bacon for BLT's. I made a fool of myself on how much bacon can be layered on two pieces of bread. It fell apart and mayo ran down my arm. My mother would not have been proud of me.

Last night my cousin (closest thing I ever had to a brother) came over and we listened to old music trying to remember the "long time ago". We did that for four hours.

Off topic: everyone needs a good family picture. The one below is my daughter (top right) and her sister in law. It was her sister in laws birthday yesterday. My daughter gets her looks from me!

There can never be enough BACON!! 🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓
A fundamental law of how the universe works.

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueanites and Lurkers.
  • We've got 74º and sprinkling off and on.
  • Left my cellphone out in the rain. It is not working.
  • No news.
  • Take care.
  • As you were. Rave on!
Take apart your cellphone, remove battery and turn on a blow-dryer immediately. Blow dry everything. Reassemble and retry.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 78°F and partly cloudy. Expecting 99°F for our high. We've hit triple digits 42 times so far this summer. It appears we'll get little or nothing from these storms; however, Houston and Lake Charles areas could get clobbered, according to models. Stay tuned.

Hope Donfather's phone dried out.

Wishing all our fellow D-League members continued happiness and good health.
