D-League

My son just found a picture that I had never seen. It was at my son's friends wedding. It is of me and my kids, I think in 1994.

Beautiful family Bert.

Good morning D, not much going on today, but it's a beautiful day here in the Berg.

52 years ago yesterday was the worst day in our family with losing my brother in a boating accident. We were swamped by a barge on the Green River going hunting. My parents were never the same again even though they held up for the rest of us. GOD gave me an outstanding set of parents and a great family! Mom was the glue to this family. At the funeral for my neighbor a good friend of ours that had lost a daughter told me that my mom was the one that got her thru their loss. She told me my mom would come to visit her and kept telling her that she would get thru it and also said that if it wasn't for mom she didn't know how she would have made it!
I hope everyone has a great day! Thanks again for accepting me into the D!

If you need a pray, just think, one has already been said even though I don't know what's wrong, GOD knows!
Wonderful and inspiring story cordmaker. My mother's birthday is tomorrow and she would have been 107. In my eyes and eyes of many she was a saint. She was totally devoted to her God and family and I never heard her say a bad word about anybody. Not even Bill Clinton and Monica. She let the Lord handle that. If you wanted to spread gossip you didn't want to take it to her. Her ears were closed to anything negative.

When the Mayor talks people snap to attention and make it happen.

That is what I was thinking!!!

You bet. That is the first time ever that it worked and I will not be a believer until the program starts and it is at Lexington.

That's good then. Sometimes you have to do a little griping to get something done. Dealing with Windstream over the years has taught me that.

Windstream takes less time than Spectrum!

Bert, do you remember this one?
Mayor of our town.

I had to look up his name but I recognized his face.

Good morning D League

Looking for a sunny day with current temperatures at 75 degrees and a high nearing 90. The humidity has increased. Another good day to work around the house. The picture below was taken in Tampa, FL where a man put his little car in the house to keep it from blowing away. Winds were gusting to 40 MPH. Now I am not here to ridicule or throw rocks at people who buy these things but my Lord, who in their right mind would drive this thing on a heavily traveled interstate without the fear of being smashed like a cockroach with an 18 wheeler. Somethings in this world I do not understand. If you own one, my prayers are with your always. May God build a fence all around you.

Those little cars are surprisingly strong. Odds are they are not going to cave in on you and crush you. Problem is, with their light weight, just about anything that hits you is going to weigh twice as much effectively doubling the impact force for you. Not much room for crumple zone either. NO thanks.

Sorry that I did not respond to your post. I can get the ESPN app; however, I should not have to worry with it.

I am a grumpy old man!:)

Holy smoke, maybe my griping for over an hour on the phone helped.

I doubt that I was the only one, but Kentucky is now scheduled for my Spectrum game on SEC Network Saturday.

I am a happy camper.

I didn't want you to hurt yourself so I made a phone call.

That be them Mr. Rooster!!! Wonder where that pic was taken?

Already answered but I was going to say Southwest Louisville.

Geeze, my relatives on face book are horrible. But I liked this one also.

Two hillbillies walk into a restaurant. While having a bite to eat, they talk about their moonshine operation.

Suddenly, a woman at a nearby table, who is eating a sandwich, begins to cough.
After a minute or so, it becomes apparent that she is in real distress.

One of the hillbillies looks at her and says, Kin ya swallar?'

The woman shakes her head no. Then he asks, 'Kin ya breathe?'

The woman begins to turn blue, and shakes her head no.

The hillbilly walks over to the woman, lifts up her dress, yanks down her drawers, and quickly gives her right butt cheek a lick with his tongue.

The woman is so shocked that she has a violent spasm, and the obstruction flies out of her mouth.

As she begins to breathe again, the Hillbilly walks slowly back to his table.

His partner says, 'Ya know, I'd heerd of that there 'Hind Lick Maneuver' but I ain't niver seed nobody do it!'

Watching the weather channel now. The storm is up to where my wife's extended family live. They are STILL showing this storm at 110 mph. The guy said something about the latest measurement being 105 but that 5 mph didn't matter and it doesn't change the category below 2. Anyway, the screen shows buoy measurements just off shore in what could be called the eye of the storm. These are showing max sustained winds at 45 mph with gusts up to 63.

There was a time when the head guy at the Weather Channel was telling people that man made climate change was a hoax. He is no longer there.

Well I am going to knock it off for tonight. The wife fixed me a pan of liver and onions, one of my favorite meals and something she will not touch so I guess she is wanting something from me. Thanks you honey for feeding me like a special person is fed. Our governor held a press conference thanking God Florida was spared and offered full resources to help our neighboring states who may not be as fortunate. We have also sent our Coast Guard to the Bahamas and the Clearwater unit rescued 165 people the first day over there. Supplies from our area are pouring in from the churches.

Today was a day that took the vinegar out of a person down here. I changed clothes three times from working outside with the humidity. Jumped in the pool twice to cool down then hit it another lick. Dorian left us with humidity that made the 91 degree temperature have a heat index of 99. Towns and cities inland had heat indexes up to 108 with 96 degree temperatures. I know I must have drank 4 quart bottles of water and a gallon of ice tea. . The liquid just poured out of me. I am much to old for this but I have to admit I love it. My wife stayed in the house all day and wouldn't even come outside to "supervise" She just can not handle this type of weather and must have an Eskimo blood line. She swears I am part alligator. I tell her no I was just born down here before AC was invented. Trust all sleep well tonight. i sure will. The picture below is Hurricane Hazel in 1954. This was before climate change or global warming. Hazel was a Bitch and there was nothing to blame her on except mother nature just telling us, she can go on a rampage and there isn't anything man can do about it. .

I've been busy taking care of the folks this week. A lot of house and yard maintenance. It's tough to stomach when simple chores get to be too big of a burden for our heroes. That's exactly what they are to me. A very small sacrifice compared to what they sacrificed for me.

I've been watching an :alien: show called CONTACT. I've only seen 3 episodes but it looks kind of hokie...unlike ANCIENT ALIENS! Anyway, I'm going to give it a chance and see what they can dig up...but so far, Ancient Aliens has already covered the stuff they are discussing. Looks like another show trying to steal Ancient Aliens Thunder!!! :alien:

Good morning from ATX. 80°F again. Expecting possible record temps today at 102°F. 42 days to far this summer we've seen triple digits. More to come through at least Sunday.

SEC+ Network now shows both Ark vs Ole Miss and EMU vs UK scheduled in the same time slot this coming Saturday. We'll see if it actually happens. Still thinking we may have to stream.

Good morning D-League, wherever you may be,
Like everywhere else, it's going to be another blazing hot day here; the forecast calls for highs betwee 94-97 through at least next week; my poor AC unit is overworked, even with my thermostat set on 75 at the house.

Contrast that with my office here at school, where I walked in to a brisk 61 degrees on the indoor thermometer.

-My son's cross country races have been pushed down to 7:30---8:30 tormorrow morning, so that'll help with those kids not having to run a hard 5k race in the peak heat.

-I want to see UK football look a bit more efficient tomorrow; I expect that they will as we hope to move on to 2-0. Just keep on getting better.

-Like others, I followed the hurricane a bit yesterday. On my computer, I pulled up a live webcam view of the hurricane from one of the islands off of North Carolina, a place where we've vacationed quite a bit. I watched periodically throughout the day as some gusty squalls moved through, along with a medium high surge, but never approaching the intensity that they weather channel was reporting. Maybe some embellishing going on from the media? Thankfully, it looks like things were left pretty much in place.

Good Friday morning D League

Looking for a nice day down here. If we could keep the humidity down it would be perfect. We had a low in the mid 70's early this morning and is currently 85°F At noon it will reach 88°F and start cooling down at 3:00. The breeze is nice and the sun will set at 7:42. I enjoy getting in the pool at night when you can see the stars and moon. I need a telescope. My grandson made one this summer and he said he would bring it down when he visits. We do not have any light pollution where I live because a wildlife preserve is behind me (I call it a swamp) and then the Gulf of Mexico so the sky is bright and clear You can really get some great views.

I have 30 black large contractor bags of yard waste I have filled the last few days and I need to get those to the recycle center. So today I will fill a few more and load up; the pick up for a trip out there.

Looking for the Cats to continue to improve and take care of business against Eastern Michigan. I am not looking ahead but next week is the most important game for me this season. Florida comes to town.
