D-League

Morning D
Well obviously I missed the second half
No great loss
Getting ready for work. Should be a fun day after a four day weekend.
Just a little reminder for this thread. We have drive bys all the time. It’s best not to engage at all. This is a safe place with good people. Let’s Keep it that way.
Have a great day all
Thank you for your words of wisdom. The D League is prime and the posters are the best. Have a nice day Beverly

D-League,
Hey there everyone on this nice Tuesday morning. It's 74 degrees right now with crystal clear, cobalt blue skies headed up to a sizzling 95 degrees. It got up to 97 yesterday and will be much the same for at least the next week here in the Chattanooga TN area.
-Nice win by UK football over the weekend. I only gave college football a passing glance ( which I know is sacrilege around here) over the weekend. Seems like the same old teams in there at the top, year after year after year; but I'm still really enjoying baseball this time of the season, watching the Atlanta Braves run away with their division, so there's that.

-I noticed that the vols went down to Georgia State. Wow, whatever, but you know that no matter how bad UT is, how much of a downer season they'll have with no bowl game, etc.....they will give us fits and suddenly play out of their minds like the super bowl champs against us. Other SEC teams must have struggled also from what I saw on the scores.

-I hope everyone within range of hurricane Dorian stays safe and, thankfully, it looks like the storm may stay off-shore. A big sigh of relief I'm sure for those folks down there.

What do you think Rooster? You know more about this than any of us. Am I full of shit?

With modern imagery, radar and GIS speed measurements are basic. I am convinced our advanced technology is superior to that of the past making much conjecture concerning the past somewhat susceptible to interpretation of the interpreter. Plenty of room for opinion. I personally do not see the cause and effect of an industrial caused warming. The correlation is strong of the apes taking advantage of the temperate goldilock zones.

I'm not sure ymmot31 but I think that may be the most polite way to tell somebody they're full of shit?!
....Although there's a lot of big words in there for me, so I'm not really sure if Rooster was agreeing or disagreeing. :grimace:

I got stuff to do tomorrow. The whole works. Everything that I 'do' will need to be done tomorrow. Looking forward to the challenge.
OK man time to get out there and face the challenge. The sun is up and a cool breeze is a blowing. The rains have brought out the weeds and they need pulling. I have had a 3 egg breakfast which gives me plenty of fuel to get through this. :sunglasses:

Hey Sawnee Cat, I'm glad the storm steered away from your part of Florida. I suppose you had to be safe rather than sorry with leaving KY early to head back home....just in case.

He was agreeing with me about global warming basically and said the measurements we take now are much more accurate than the measurements we took back when. He said to take the interpretations of temperatures in the past with a grain of salt due to biases of the interpreter.

That's not the question I had asked about though.

Since I asked the question about the hurricane intensity being exaggerated I decided to do my own investigation yesterday. Sure enough, I was able to find people who were seeing the same things I was. I hadn't given it much thought until Micheal came up through the Keys and rained hard on Florida.

8 hours after I had seen the wind graph from the hurricane plane that showed a max wind of a less than 100 mph in the eyewall at 10,000 ft, and heard the guy say they were going to leave it at 145 mph, they still had it listed at 130 mph and a cat 4. Cat 3 ends at 129.

We deserve the truth. Everything I've seen easily proves that the truth is no longer a requirement for our media but rather an impediment.

We were told that there would be more hurricanes and there were not. We were told they would be more powerful, and they are not. They can't lie to us about the number of hurricanes, so they lie to us about their strength.

Nice post, Beverly.

That's a good trick. Looking at that fellow, he might have put a few too many years into mastering it.

But looks can be deceiving. He might be a retired 3-star general or CEO of a Fortune 500 company.

Hope all is well with the D-Leaguers. I had a nice three-day weekend without accomplishing much. Now, back to the grind.

Yes this thing was being hyped so much I couldn't take a chance. But if you follow the Weather Channel and most of the rest of the weather forecasters you find out hurricane forecasting is 90% hype and 10% factual. The 10% is questionable.

But when you have property you have to take the worst case scenario and protect it. But I will never evacuate because that is the worst thing I could do.

You nailed it. The exaggeration is almost to a criminal level. I was born in Florida in 1943. I have seen hurricanes all of my life and I have worked most of them since 1970. The word going around now is they are much more powerful today with more property damage. Guess what America in 1943 Florida had about 2 million people. Today we have over 20,000,000. Most of Florida was rural and swamps so yes there was not as much property damage. We have 10 times as many people so what would you expect.

Another thing few people understand. Most of the beaches you visit are man made. They have been dredged up and the high rise hotels and condos on them are built on fill from sand. Even a mild hurricane will cause enough erosion to wash away sand and flood streets. This is not melted ice from the North Pole it is man made sand being washed away. Go to the beach a few months after the hurricane and watch machines rebuild them. Then repeat the next hurricane. So if you see streets in Miami with water running down them just understand Miami was built on a swamp. Nature is taking back what man took from it.

Question. If I put someone on ignore I can not see there posts (thank God) But can they still see mine.

They can as long as they don't have you on ignore.

I would like to take a moment to speak about last nights interloper. We've been pretty lucky here that we haven't had more people try to come in and stir up dust. The best way to handle these people is to ignore them. If that doesn't work then just put them on ignore. I haven't put that particular person on ignore because I like to laugh at him.

Some of you remember and some of you need to know... this thread was started with the premise that anyone who wanted to could post here. Once certain people decided they were too good for that, it imploded. Let's not make that mistake again.

This is a first-hand point of view that makes too much sense and does not fit in with the media-driven agenda. Sadly, most of the news consuming sheep out there won't take the time to consider information and factors like you've presented here.

Watching the Weather Channel...Jim Cantore has the eye goggles on. This is serious stuff now! In all seriousness, he's smart putting them on. I am interested to see what the Bahamas look like now. This storm sat on those islands for a while. Fortunately it keeps weakening and the cone of disaster keeps moving further out to the east.

Woot Woot! Ha, this house husband stuff is easy. I just got done and she isn't even home yet. Dishes, pick up/vacuum living room, load of laundry, grass mowed, weeds ate. I suppose I'll be cooking something for dinner as well.

Started back on my diet today. Haven't ingested anything today other than coffee and water. I'll eat once tonight and then play it by ear tomorrow.

Well, I played 9 holes today...I HATE the game. But, I'll put myself through the misery again next week.

I went through a golfing phase about 15 years ago and pretty much ended up at the same conclusion that you mention here. I played quite often for about 10 years. I would have a good round followed by several infuriating or downright embarrassing play. Seems like I just didn't have the natural timing, hand/eye coordination, or rhythm that is needed for consistency.

It all ended one day in Myrtle Beach, back around 2007, after a humiliating round where I shot over 100, playing with a group of pretty decent golfers, I had an epiphany and realized the following:

-Golf is difficult for me
-Golf can be very expensive and time consuming
-I pretty much suck at the game
-Playing really crappy golf is not fun for me
-It's foolish for me to pay lots of money and spend lots of time only to suck at the game, and as a result of crappy play, be miserable, not enjoying the game.
-I am done playing golf

I have not swung a golf club since then

And yet I get to play for free on a really nice course...and I STILL HATE the game...until the next birdie!:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::alien: It's just a frustrating game for me. I can get off the tee box just fine then the wedges fail me. I can spray it off the tee box and the mid irons can get me back into the game. Then I can putt out of my mind one day and not make a 3 footer the next day. GOLF :chairshot:
