Wow. My weather station says it is 95 degrees and a little over 60% humidity. And I still have to cut grass. Yuck.
All of the hot weather being reported reminds me of my wife. She hates hot weather and prefers cold and snow. This picture was taken at her brothers house in Kentucky and she was so excited with 10 inches of snow. I was not with her and she left for home a few minutes after the picture. She ran into a Georgia ice storm and ran her car over the side of a mountain, landing in a snow bank. There was no real damage to the car and she had a good ride down the hill. She thought it was fun. Not me

My wife brought home a sack of large ripe tomatoes and one slice will almost cover a piece of bread. So tonight we will have one of my favorite's. BLT sandwiches. She also found a watermelon on the side of the road for dessert. Some homemade potato salad and a few other odds and ends and we have supper. I can smell the bacon from my office.

Mornin' D-League. Getting ready to send our son back to Lexington for his sophomore year. We helped him get a car over the summer, and he had a good few months, banking nearly $8,000 from his job with "College Hunks Hauling Junk." They really liked him and he's already been hired for weekends with the Lexington franchise.

Grinding out a tough work week, then will celebrate our 23rd anniversary on the weekend. Hope all is well with everyone.
Happy early 23rd Md!

Good morning D League

Waking up to a nice sunrise and clear skies. The weather girl, Miss Martinez, says we are back in our normal summer pattern. Morning sunshine and late afternoon scattered showers. We are at 73° now and expect 90° for a high.

I am starting to see a lot of car flags on the local roads which means football is here. A few years back I stopped at a rest area on I75 in Georgia and there were fans of Tennessee and Alabama arguing in the parking lot and it came to blows. It was a hoot to see.

This coffee is really good but a glass of that fresh squeezed lemonade will be very refreshing about 2:00 PM. Have a great day.
The last time that we beat Auburn it was on their field. After the game an Auburn fan and an Alabama fan tried to scrap about something (they were too drunk to fight.)

Hey everyone,
After another blazing hot and extremely muggy high of 99 degrees yesterday, we're headed for another scorcher today. The local weather talking heads say that we might get some thunderstorms to cool us down later today and into the late week.

I've changed up my routine recently by doing my exercising very early in the morning. I've been waking up around 4:00 a.m. and going from there with the weights, walking/running, or whatever, then breakfast, and hopefully out the door by 6:15 to work. We'll see how it goes after the groggy adjustment period.

Another day, another dollar and so it goes. Have a good one and enjoy this day you've been given.
That is my normal routine. I wake up automatically between 0330-0400 every morning. Drink one cup of coffee and then on to the shop for the workout in Warriors lair:

Take care of the little things. The big things will take care of themselves.

Happy Anniversary! Tell your son I said Go Big Blue!

Sounds like a lot of money just going up in smoke.

♪♫that's where my money goes, in my lungs, and sometimes up my nose♫♪

Wow Bert. Congratulations. That's a remarkable run.

I think I recall that you - like me - are a history buff, so I'll share with you our anniversary plans: We've taken a room in the Willard Hotel for Friday and Saturday nights, and eating in a couple of the restaurants that had their roots back in the early days of DC, including the Old Ebbitt Grill -- where my wife and I used to go 30 years ago when we were first dating.

The Willard was the place Lincoln stayed after Pinkerton and his detectives snuck him into Washington in February 1861 through Baltimore, after he received death threats following his election.

He lived at the Willard until he was inaugurated and moved up the block into the White House. The Willard was home to lots of presidents before and after their terms, and was notorious as a place for deal making by influence peddlers. Ulysses Grant called the crowd hanging out there "lobbyists," and though he wasn't the first to use the name, it's application to the Willard crowd stuck.

Dang! That was a heluva post! D league is one of the best threads on the cat paw. Is where you went yesterday more important than where you've been for the last 50 years?

Aargh. Az temps with Tejas humidity. I actually considered retiring to Texas but didn't for this very reason. The wife's dad was a rough Texan and she lived there briefly as a kid and still has a lot of family there.
I believe I read you once considered Dripping Springs?

Compared to Florida, Texas humidity is quite mild. If shade is available here, Central Texas is quite tolerable. Not so in Florida. I sweated like crazy in 90°F temps in the shade at my brother's place day before yesterday.

Good morning D League.

Seeing my son off to Lexington this morning. It’ll be his first drive that far - 550 miles - by himself so I’m a bit nervous. But he’s a good driver and a competent kid.

My children will be scattered from Kansas City to Austin to Lexington after today. Lonely feeling.

Good morning D League

It is currently 74°F and we will get up to 90°F. We have a 40% chance of rain and yes the humidity will be high. Sauna bath levels. Speaking of humidity AustinTXCat is right about humidity down here and if you can't take it you will be miserable. Or stay inside all the time. I was raised in it before air conditioning but when you don't have something or know what it is you don't miss it. If you took AC out of Florida you would see 20,000,000 people get out of here.

I like to sweat and 95% humidity is comfortable to me. My wife says I have alligator blood and she does not like hot weather. I imagine If I die before she does she is headed back to Kentucky. Trust all have a good day today and stay cool.

It is 67.6°F here already and the humidity is 76% which is muggy. I lived 15 years in Jacksonville, FL and I never got used to the humidity or the bugs that bite. About one third of the railroad folks that I moved there with stayed. I came back to Kentucky mainly because of the weather and the folks. My families have been here since the end of the American Revolution, so it is home.

I got a trigger point injection in my right hips bursa. Bursitis in the hip apparently is what I have. They took a boatload of x-rays to see if my back could be contributing and I will find out. I now have to take some physical therapy.

Bert I sure pray you can get some relief on the pain and they can get down to the root of what is going on.

D-League, hey, how's it going this morning?

We're supposed to cool off today with a high of 92, which is down from the past several days. The air conditioning went out where I work, so that's been interesting to say the least. In the afternoon, it got up to 91 degrees in my office, complete with muggy, humid "air you can wear" soupiness. I knew we were in for a tough stretch of days when I came into the office at 7:00am and it was 80 degrees in the room. But, we forge ahead, no matter what the temps are; it is August in the south after all, right? No excuses....works gotta get done.

I harvested a huge bushel of banana peppers from my vegetable patch and have really enjoyed cooking with those things. Along with our Roma tomato, basil, and bell peppers, we love the freshness that comes from our home garden. Thankfully, the critters and bugs stayed away from them this time.

Everyone, have a nice day.
