D-League

Afternoon D.
Short hiatus over the weekend.
Golf scramble on Friday (I behaved) then went out Friday night for #1's birthday.
Worked Saturday morning then went car shopping with the redhead that afternoon. Test drove, made an offer but they didn't accept so we left. We're in no hurry...might do better towards the end of the month?
Went to church and hung out (not literally) around the house yesterday. Severe storm blew through & cooled things off for the evening. I stood on the front porch for most of it...the wind felt great.
Gotta go to Dalton GA tomorrow & Wednesday for a Supplier audit. It's still work but better than being AT work.
#3 starts his Sr yr of college today...good kid. Probably gets that from my side of the family....
:football: UK :football:

Hey, Eville, ymmot is coming to Ashland, about the first of Oct to play at Bellefonte. Why don't you come with him? Golf and lunch are on me.

Good morning D League

Waking up to a nice sunrise and clear skies. The weather girl, Miss Martinez, says we are back in our normal summer pattern. Morning sunshine and late afternoon scattered showers. We are at 73° now and expect 90° for a high.

I am starting to see a lot of car flags on the local roads which means football is here. A few years back I stopped at a rest area on I75 in Georgia and there were fans of Tennessee and Alabama arguing in the parking lot and it came to blows. It was a hoot to see.

This coffee is really good but a glass of that fresh squeezed lemonade will be very refreshing about 2:00 PM. Have a great day.

Good morning! No plans as of yet. Might be a movie day.

Got a hankering for a BLT this morning. I know where they are so I guess I'll make a little trip up the road in a few and track one down.

Speaking of BLT's, I ordered one at a Waffle House just south of Knoxville one morning. Me and 3 other guys used to eat there every morning when we got off work. Anyway, she brings my sammich and when I take the first bite I realize there is no B. I called her over and told her she forgot to put on the B. She informed me that they were out of B.

I implored as to why she wouldn't tell me that when I ordered and not wait for me to find out. B is the most important part and that's why it's the first letter. Inane banter ensued and she blurted out that I was going to pay for the sammich I ordered or she was going to call the police! I told her I was definitely not paying for an LT sammich and that she had better tell the police the whole story before they come over.

Her family tree was a telephone pole.

Hey everyone,
After another blazing hot and extremely muggy high of 99 degrees yesterday, we're headed for another scorcher today. The local weather talking heads say that we might get some thunderstorms to cool us down later today and into the late week.

I've changed up my routine recently by doing my exercising very early in the morning. I've been waking up around 4:00 a.m. and going from there with the weights, walking/running, or whatever, then breakfast, and hopefully out the door by 6:15 to work. We'll see how it goes after the groggy adjustment period.

Another day, another dollar and so it goes. Have a good one and enjoy this day you've been given.

Mornin' D-League. Getting ready to send our son back to Lexington for his sophomore year. We helped him get a car over the summer, and he had a good few months, banking nearly $8,000 from his job with "College Hunks Hauling Junk." They really liked him and he's already been hired for weekends with the Lexington franchise.

Grinding out a tough work week, then will celebrate our 23rd anniversary on the weekend. Hope all is well with everyone.

Aargh. Az temps with Tejas humididity. I actually considered retiring to Texas but didn't for this very reason. The wife's dad was a rough Texan and she lived there briefly as a kid and still has a lot of family there.

Wow Bert. Congratulations. That's a remarkable run.

I think I recall that you - like me - are a history buff, so I'll share with you our anniversary plans: We've taken a room in the Willard Hotel for Friday and Saturday nights, and eating in a couple of the restaurants that had their roots back in the early days of DC, including the Old Ebbitt Grill -- where my wife and I used to go 30 years ago when we were first dating.

The Willard was the place Lincoln stayed after Pinkerton and his detectives snuck him into Washington in February 1861 through Baltimore, after he received death threats following his election.

He lived at the Willard until he was inaugurated and moved up the block into the White House. The Willard was home to lots of presidents before and after their terms, and was notorious as a place for deal making by influence peddlers. Ulysses Grant called the crowd hanging out there "lobbyists," and though he wasn't the first to use the name, it's application to the Willard crowd stuck.

Congrats. 50 or more years together was quite common for our generation. It was not often a bed of roses all the way through but men often stuck it out in a sense of honor and obligation. And many wives stuck it out because, well, they felt like they no choice.

But, then, sometimes two people just fall in love and that love never dies.

Great to hear your son is doing the same thing I did in summers. I worked for North American Van Lines in Lexington and started as a helper on a long distance 18 wheeler. I would report the week after finals and return to Lexington about a week before classes started in the fall. Did that four years and to be honest received more of an education on the road than in school. Saw a man get shot to death in Nashville by the Cumberland River bridge and had to chase away a young girl in St Louis who offered us anything we wanted if we would take her to Los Angeles. A BIG NO little girl. She may have been 16 at the most. Going through the Western states I saw my first hippies Guess they were headed to San Francisco

Congrats on 23. I love to see couples who have over 20 years. Today that is a commitment and a good thing. .

CONGRATULATIONS ON 53 BERT AND SHERRY

My wife and I will celebrate 53 next April. She wanted to be 20 when we were married or I would have married her before April 1967. I know the Lord picked out the very best lady on earth for you to go down life's journey. You and Sherry are blessed.

Great stories Sawnee. My son was more regional than national - down into Virginia, and as far as Baltimore in Maryland, along with some DC moves in the elegant parts of town. He loved it, and saw his share of stuff, though nobody killed. As for the teeny-bopper, I trust he'd do the same.

Good morning D! Been really busy lately with dr. appts and staining the deck. I get to work on it till about noon, then it's just to hot! Saw 100 yesterday when I came in with the heat index at 108. Right now it's 93 and index at 106. Looks like storms headed in this afternoon, so look out OEC they get you first then us here in the Berg!

One of my appointments was with an ENT follow up about hearing devices, I knew they were going to be high but DANG!!!! I got a test pair just to see if I can wear or like them, so far don't like them. My problem is this ringing in my ears and so far I haven't felt it has reduced it much. I know it's not going to my the ringing go away but just hoping. One problem is everytime I have to do something with any kind of power tool I have to take them out, so I am taking them out 4 or 5 times a day! Don't think I am going to invest that kind of money now, Mrs. M says that I can always do it later iffin I want to!

We had a family reunion this pass weekend and almost had a fight with a stupid #%&@% of a cousin of mine getting in my granddaughters face pointing a finger at her telling her not to do something! Problem is my granddaughter 3 years old and autistic. She just don't understand a lot of things yet. She is getting help by starting school this year. She went 2 months last school year (Apr & May) and we saw a big difference in her, so we are hoping for a big change this year!

I saw some anniversaries on here looking back, so congrats to all!

I am also getting excited about football.
I am also hoping my St. Louis Cardinals keep hanging in there also! Been listening to them since way back in the Musial days!
One more thing about my reunion, I have been searching for answer to a question for 52 years and I got it Saturday. It all had to do with the day my brother drowned in 1967. I always wanted to know about my mom on that day. She was in Dawson Springs visiting her mom when it happened, I guess I needed some closure and I got it. I know GOD had the answer for me just didn't realize it was going to take 52 years for me to find it. Every thing is on GOD"S timetable not mine!!!
I hope everyone has a great day!!
Oh I almost forgot noone! Sorry Y I just had to do that one time, I to hate seeing anybody do that!

Does it get hot in Phoenix? I just read where a high school freshman where I live died of a heatstroke yesterday walking home from school. Someone found him lying beside the road. If you live within a mile of the school, school bus rides are not provided. It is easy to get dehydrated and not even notice it until it is too late. I hope the schools revisit their policy after this tragedy.
