D-League

D-League, hey, how's it going this morning?

We're supposed to cool off today with a high of 92, which is down from the past several days. The air conditioning went out where I work, so that's been interesting to say the least. In the afternoon, it got up to 91 degrees in my office, complete with muggy, humid "air you can wear" soupiness. I knew we were in for a tough stretch of days when I came into the office at 7:00am and it was 80 degrees in the room. But, we forge ahead, no matter what the temps are; it is August in the south after all, right? No excuses....works gotta get done.

I harvested a huge bushel of banana peppers from my vegetable patch and have really enjoyed cooking with those things. Along with our Roma tomato, basil, and bell peppers, we love the freshness that comes from our home garden. Thankfully, the critters and bugs stayed away from them this time.

Everyone, have a nice day.

This is the truth! With the high temperature and being miserable in a "work/office" setting, it provided an opportunity as a social experiment in that it was interesting to reveal how close we are to our comforts and the levels of complaining that some will exhibit when it gets too hot, too cold, or whatever.

Sometimes, we need to suck it up and subjugate our discomforts.

Morning D, well was going to stain some of the deck, but we had a storm that blew thru here yesterday dropped some rain so I will just have to wait. We lost power for about 3 hours, really was nice and quiet for those 3 hours! During the hour that it blew thru the temp dropped almost 20 degrees!

I heard 2 really crazy things on the tv and radio this morning
First I heard that all of California problems with the homeless is Texas's fault! I knew it was all your fault ATX!! The gov. out there is a real nut case!

Second, I listen to a station out of Hop'town when I am out in the truck and they give out the dumba$$ award for the day and today was given to a guy that decided that he was going to get rid of some weeds around his house, so he gets a blow torch out and proceeds to not only catching his house on fire, but three of his neighbors houses! He sounds like one of the guys ya'll are torturing over on the PT thread!

Ya'll have a great day, praying for those in pain and whose hearts are hurting!!!

Good morning D League

It is currently 74°F and we will get up to 90°F. We have a 40% chance of rain and yes the humidity will be high. Sauna bath levels. Speaking of humidity AustinTXCat is right about humidity down here and if you can't take it you will be miserable. Or stay inside all the time. I was raised in it before air conditioning but when you don't have something or know what it is you don't miss it. If you took AC out of Florida you would see 20,000,000 people get out of here.

I like to sweat and 95% humidity is comfortable to me. My wife says I have alligator blood and she does not like hot weather. I imagine If I die before she does she is headed back to Kentucky. Trust all have a good day today and stay cool.

For some reason this made me think of Sean Miller.

Good morning D League.

Seeing my son off to Lexington this morning. It’ll be his first drive that far - 550 miles - by himself so I’m a bit nervous. But he’s a good driver and a competent kid.

My children will be scattered from Kansas City to Austin to Lexington after today. Lonely feeling.
You are raising your son correctly. A kid earning $8K over the Summer and applying same towards his college education must make you very proud to get to say that. Put your chest out

That's nice of you to say Don. Thanks. Like all dads I'm proud of my kids. And relieved -- he made it to Lexington without a problem, and has even made contact with the local franchise of the moving company he worked for here and will pick up a couple shifts this weekend.

I heard about CA trying to blame TX. Those people really need to lay off the acid...

We harvested at least 70 romas from our 1 plant this year. Great sauce and salsa tomato.
