Thanks for this one Don. What a great year, the year I graduated from High School. Those folks made music that will never grow old.

Chief, this date in 1961 (58 years ago) I was trying to walk on at Ole Miss. Whaley Hall took some electric clippers to my blond flattop as initiation.
Johnny Vaught, yep, head-coach. My high-school coach was Ralph McRight. He was a team-mate of Paul Bryant at Alabama.I loved Ole Miss football in those days. Was Johnny Vaught head coach? I remember a game at Stoll Field. They took the field in single line and it looked like the entire state of Mississippi was on that team. Must have been way over 100 players on that traveling squad. Man were they good, ranked number one or pretty close to it. .
We thought he was hot stuff.

You could have been a busboy by now,I was walking on the streets of Detroit, looking for a job - any job. I did wash dishes for one day in downtown Detroit. When they closed they wanted me to mop the floor. "Mop the floor? I'm a dishwasher, not a janitor!" Fired on the spot. Had to walk five miles home. Stopped at a barber shop and got a haircut. After the haircut the barber asked me if I wanted him to massage my scalp. I said "Sure, if you want to." I got up to pay him and he wanted a couple of extra bucks for that scalp massage. "I didn't ask you for that massage. You asked me. I'm not paying you for that." And I didn't. Boy, was I green back then.
You could have been a busboy by now,
You could have been a contender. You could have been somebody.![]()
Yep. Many missed opportunities.
My cousin lives on Nolin Lake near Anneta. I love visiting 2x per year. Always fun.We got back from Nolin Lake earlier day. Nice weekend. Unfortunately the skies didn't cooperate so I never bothered to pull out the scopes to cruise the Universe. Plus the mosquitoes were out looking for blood. But, had a good time on the water. Johnny Law (Water Patrol) was keeping an eye out, that's for sure.
Good morning from ATX. Currently 78°F and clear. Possibility for popup showers this afternoon.

We'll check back later. Y'all behave.
Yeap, that is Sherry this morning!
Don't get too hot.Good morning D League
It is Monday morning and currently 77° with a high today of 86° we have a 20% chance of showers/. My phone app say there is a pattern change is coming but it didn't say what it may be. So I will keep looking out of the window and checking the clouds in the sky. The weather is what it is.
I have a ton of yard work to do and have been putting it off but I need to get to work. The temperatures are fine for working outside so I need to get motivated.
I am excited about football season coming soon. Our pastor encouraged us in the service yesterday to wear out school colors or favorite NFL jersey. I will be wearing my Blue and White. The pastor is my cousin but he is a Florida fan. He comes from mama's side of the family.
Trust all have a nice day.
Good (late) morning from the beach D-League. Just spotted a pod of 5-6 Bottlenose Dolphin close in. Eight-nine footers. Beautiful, graceful animals. Inevitably so dope up the beach yelled “shark!” on spotting the dorsal fin. Lots of pelicans flying over..
Sawnee, that sounds like really rewarding work. Congratulations to her for finding a meaningful vocation.MdWildat55, my daughter does volunteer work for the Clearwater Marinne Aquarium that is actually a non profit rescue center for marine life . The most famous resident is Winter the Dolphin. They rescue marine life from the Gulf, rehab them to the point of being able to survive a release back into the wild. If you love marine life it is one of the best rescue operations going. Several movies have been made of the operation.

Actually she is a volunteer and this is not her full time vocation. I guess it is more of a love or hobby. She lives in Ocala and comes down on the weekends to the aquarium. She loves animals and this is the perfect job for someone with a love for marine life. They rescue sharks, otters, sea turtles, pelicans, sting rays and other marine life that have been injured and bring them to the aquarium to rehab. For example Winter the Dolphin lost her tail when she was trapped and crabs ate it off. She has an artificial tail and can never go back to the Gulf. But there are others that are brought in they can be saved and returned to their natural habitat.Sawnee, that sounds like really rewarding work. I lived in South Florida for a couple years right out of college in the late 1970s. My boss had a decent sized boat and he took a liking to me, so we’d go out fishing and just looking around on the open water. I loved seeing all the ocean life - turtles, dolphins, sharks. I was telling the story last night of coming upon a giant Manta Ray that, in my memory, was 12 feet across. (That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.)
