Good morning all! The oldest girl got here yesterday and her and mom are out walking this morning. Sunny and supposed to be 90 today. I'm sure when they get back we will head to the beach. Hope everyone who's ailing starts feeling better. You guys losing weight are inspiring! I need to get on that train! Y'all have a good day, will check in later!

Same with me. About five years ago Sears actually replaced one of my Craftsman ratchets. Also a lot of folks loved the Craftsman lawn mowers.

The quality of Craftsman hand tools declined over the years. Didn't matter really. They replaced any defective one no questions asked. Not professional quality but better than the "made in Japan" junk of yonder years.

Headed out for my semi-annual doctor checkup. At 75 they always find something to send you to a couple of specialists. The next few months are spent going to those specialists and getting some kind of treatment. By the time that is over it is time to go back for another semi-annual checkup and the next round of specialists.

Amen chief Amen

Yep. I bought a Craftsman air compressor I doubt I got ten working hours out of it over a longer period of time till it bit the dust.
This may be one of the reasons Sears has bit the dust. Quality matters. I had a brand new beautiful 1973 Monte Carlo that was a piece of junk. The problem was most cars built in 1973 were junk too.

  • Good Morning you D-Leagueanites, Wildcats and Lurkers.
  • 72º already in Johns Creek. Overcast.
  • Kansas cheating. Bill Self.
  • Sears was a lifesaver for us when we had two babies. Cloth diapers. New washer for $7.00 p/m Easy Pay. Dryer soon after. Payments went up a little. Lots of Craftsman Tools. My first lawn mower was a used 2 cycle Craftsman purchased for 20 bucks. Hit an iron pin and bent the crankshaft. Bought the parts that I needed and fixed it my self. 11/12 years old. Made money with that old machine. $1.50/$2.00 per yard. Sad to see what has happened to Sears.
  • My daddy bought his first .22 rifle when he was a youngster for about $8 out of the Sears & Roebuck catalog. I have it still. It was the first gun that I ever shot.
  • Take care today. Vote early and vote often.
  • Get well soon if you are sickly.
  • As you were. Carry on.

The EPA was the direct cause of the collapse of Sears. It mandated new homes have indoor plumbing and connection to a sewer line or septic tank. No more outhouses - no more need for Sears catalogs. No more catalogs, mail-order sales collapse. The same fate as Montgomery Ward.

Eastern Kentucky was doomed. First, they came for our outhouses. We said nothing. Then they came for our coal and, noting our earlier silence, we were powerless to resist.

Remember when going shopping at Sears was an event?

I remember when KMart was at the top of the shopping chain. Great place to shop. They had little competition and got complacent. No one to help on the floor. Walmart came along and provided the in-store service KMart dropped and practically drove them out of business. Walmart reached the top and they too dropped the on-floor employees and open cashier lines. Walmart is smarter than KMart was but, unless they stay sharp, Amazon will eventually put a big dent in them. Then, somehow, Amazon will have to be reigned in for the good of the businesses of the country.

I thought I posted earlier today but I guess I didn't. Dad wasn't feeling too good this morning and thinks he's getting a cold. We didn't go out today. That means I stayed in all day listening to tunes and watching movies. I did get the cast iron skillets hung on the wall. 6", 8", 8", 10", 10", 12". I decided the stainless skillets can stay in the cabinet.

We haven't turned the heat on yet and it's pretty cool in my house. It's 65° which isn't cold, but it's a little chilly when you're just sitting around. I've got on a UK fleece with sweat pants and a pair of wool socks. Feels pretty good.

Ah, the memories. My brother and I both used our dad's connections to get jobs on the Alaska Pipeline in the summer of 1976. We were both teenagers. When we got back, he bought a 1973 Monte Carlo with some of his savings and I bought a 1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. They were both junk. I managed to drive my Cutlass until 1979, when the engine blew as I was making my way from Virginia to Florida. I had it towed into a shade tree garage in South Carolina, and a guy who liked the looks of the Cutlass swapped me even for an Opel Kadet mini-wagon. I drove the Opel to Florida, and when it got dark hit the headlights -- and it didn't have any! The electrical wiring was completely shot. Man, how did we all survive those days?

Good morning from ATX. Currently 51°F. Expecting 56°F later today. Some area flooding hit north and west of us. Entire cars swept away. Houses flooded. More light rain expected tomorrow. Luckily, we live at the top of a hill.

I stayed up late last night working on a survey. Earned $15 for 2.5 hours. Tried keeping at minimum wage, but missed. Meh, still $15.

Happy Hump Day.

Y'all behave.

  • Good Morning you D-League and fellow Wildcat fans
  • 71º with a high today of 90 and sunshine. UV index is 0/10 low
  • We made it to Wednesday or hump day. But when you are retired every day is hump day. For those of you still in the work force, the weekend is just around the corner.
  • Verizon is getting bad publicity in the Hurricane Zone area. No service for law enforcement. They had to borrow AT&T phones to do their duty. What the heck is that all about? Our local sheriff sent a team of 15 deputies and their vehicles to Bay County to assist. Their first 15 stops were cars out of the area and every one in the car was armed. They were coming to loot and steal in Panama City. Knowing our sheriff it is a wonder they were not shot on the spot.
  • Have a safe day and don't look behind, somebody might be gaining on you.

Early voting starts today in Tennessee. Of all the things I need to do today, none was more important than going to the polls and voting.
That is a big election. We have one in Florida also. George Soros is sponsoring a commie for governor and of course Hollywood is involved too. The Dem has money galore. Also we have an important senate race and the GOP should be able to take this seat.

The problem is Hurricane Michael wiped out the panhandle where conservative have a huge part of the vote. The conservative towns have been wiped out so it is going to be hard or impossible to get everyone the chance to vote. I hope the GOP can figure something out because they will need everyone of them to beat the Dems

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueanites, Wildcats and Lurkers.
  • 68º in Johns Creek right now. I think it was 62º when I got up. It was dark for my first 30 minutes.
  • We supposed to get some of that cool weather this weekend.
  • Our son's first UK football game was the Vanderbilt game. He was 6 years old. The weather was typical of the Vandy game. Cold but tolerable. The rain became sleet. End Zone seats. Other fans shared their plastic. Saved us. He was great.
  • Hope we win that game. Very very important game.
  • Watch out for those IDMOs changing lanes a lot, ignoring your blinkers, tailgating other cars, etc. Be careful.
  • Take it easy. As you were. Carry on.
  • It is Hump Day.

  • Marian Jordan, played Molly and the little girl, Teeny. Did you ever notice that the little girl never talks to Molly?

Hello to all.
I started out in 1970 making 2 dollars an hour. I think minimum wage was a dollar. Supported wife and baby who is now 47. Then a single parent for about 15 years. Crap, I was just a kid who rarely left the house, trying to figure things out. Good times though her HS and college.

I notice that every now and then one of my friends here will say something Spiritual. Very enjoyable too and always spot on. John Wesley advised to not get in an argument about the Trinity cause it's too hard to figure out. So, just let me say this. In Acts chpt 1 and 2, Peter and the rest were hiding out thinking they were next on the cross. Peter could not figure out Jesus at that moment.

And then on the day of the Jewish festival Pentecost, suddenly, like the sound of a mighty rushing wind, the Holy Spirirt, entered him and the rest, and Peter ran out in the street proclaiming what had happen to him and the others. They were now Rhodes scholars on the subject. So mysteriously, we have that same opportunity to have the Holy Spirit enter us. That's right. One third of the Trinity dwelling within us. It's there. Might want to re read John Chapters 14 and 16 when Jesus told what was going to happen, even though they were at that time without the Holy Spirit and couldn't figure it out. Those two chapters are rich with instruction/

Well I'm going to stop. Guess I had to get that out. Love y'all. Go D league. FCC.
