ymmot31, did you follow any specific weight loss plan or did you make this one up on your own? What ever you did it sure worked.
I also went dieting about the same time as ymmot and have lost 27 lbs. I'm 5'9" down to 175 from 202. My diet wasn't really a plan. I just cut out the sodas, i.e. the sugar based refreshments. The result was loss of approx. 4 or 5 lbs/week and a higher consumption of Arrowhead Spring Water. The weight loss slowed significantly as I approached 175 lbs level and the fat melted away. My back quit hurting and now my clothes are baggy. Go Big Blue.

Headed out for my semi-annual doctor checkup. At 75 they always find something to send you to a couple of specialists. The next few months are spent going to those specialists and getting some kind of treatment. By the time that is over it is time to go back for another semi-annual checkup and the next round of specialists.
I know the routine. I practice it often.

Way to go! We should have entered the D league into a contest. You're proof that you don't have to make drastic changes to your life to lose weight. You just have to stick with it awhile.

Great job.

All this talk about weight loss is making me hungry. :)
We in this D-League outfit are strange birds. We talk about weight loss and plans then we post picture after picture of some of the best looking food one can drool over. I plead guilty.

To balance this we should post a few pictures of celery stalks, cucumber slices and dried up kale.

For some reason you just reminded of this scene from Easy Money:

Update on the rain in Smiths Grove.

In the last 24 hours we have had 2 & 7/8 inches. On top of the 1 & 1/8 in my guage last night at 6:30 pm tha tis a whopping 4 inches in 48 hours. WOW!

Palm Springs, CA averages less than 3 inches a year.

Yeah but Palm Springs has other things that you don't have in Smiths Grove.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 47°F and raining. Cold rain, in fact. Still beautiful. just cold. We're experiencing flooding in certain areas. Between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, local temperatures dropped 45°F. Air conditioner hasn't kicked on since Sunday night. Loving it.

Looking forward to a great game this coming Saturday. Go Cats!

Y'all behave.

* Good morning D-League
* Current temperature 72 with a high of 90. Weather girl said don't get out your long sleeve shirts just yet.
* Chance of rain is less than 20 per cent.
*I have about 150 lbs of magnesium to work into my citrus and palm trees. Better get on it and have it done before high noon.
*Well I got the word on the news Sears and Roebuck is calling it quits. Billions of dollars in debt and chances to turn it around nil. Sears was like the Walmart of today. Growing up in the 40's and 50's the arrival of the Sears catalog was a highlight of the entire year. Pages and pages of everything under the sun. You buy a home kit and assemble your own house. Cost about $2,000 bucks. These houses were everywhere and you can still find them in the smaller towns and cities. One of my uncles bought one after WWII and we all helped him put it together. I think it still stands. You could also buy a car or a motorcycle plus every other household good and personal items known to man.
* It is a little sad to see it go but the only thing I bought there in the last 25 years were some Craftsman tools.
*Have a safe and enjoyable day and if you are ailing we are praying for your recovery.

Good morning all! The oldest girl got here yesterday and her and mom are out walking this morning. Sunny and supposed to be 90 today. I'm sure when they get back we will head to the beach. Hope everyone who's ailing starts feeling better. You guys losing weight are inspiring! I need to get on that train! Y'all have a good day, will check in later!

Same with me. About five years ago Sears actually replaced one of my Craftsman ratchets. Also a lot of folks loved the Craftsman lawn mowers.

The quality of Craftsman hand tools declined over the years. Didn't matter really. They replaced any defective one no questions asked. Not professional quality but better than the "made in Japan" junk of yonder years.

Amen chief Amen

Yep. I bought a Craftsman air compressor I doubt I got ten working hours out of it over a longer period of time till it bit the dust.
This may be one of the reasons Sears has bit the dust. Quality matters. I had a brand new beautiful 1973 Monte Carlo that was a piece of junk. The problem was most cars built in 1973 were junk too.

  • Good Morning you D-Leagueanites, Wildcats and Lurkers.
  • 72º already in Johns Creek. Overcast.
  • Kansas cheating. Bill Self.
  • Sears was a lifesaver for us when we had two babies. Cloth diapers. New washer for $7.00 p/m Easy Pay. Dryer soon after. Payments went up a little. Lots of Craftsman Tools. My first lawn mower was a used 2 cycle Craftsman purchased for 20 bucks. Hit an iron pin and bent the crankshaft. Bought the parts that I needed and fixed it my self. 11/12 years old. Made money with that old machine. $1.50/$2.00 per yard. Sad to see what has happened to Sears.
  • My daddy bought his first .22 rifle when he was a youngster for about $8 out of the Sears & Roebuck catalog. I have it still. It was the first gun that I ever shot.
  • Take care today. Vote early and vote often.
  • Get well soon if you are sickly.
  • As you were. Carry on.

The EPA was the direct cause of the collapse of Sears. It mandated new homes have indoor plumbing and connection to a sewer line or septic tank. No more outhouses - no more need for Sears catalogs. No more catalogs, mail-order sales collapse. The same fate as Montgomery Ward.

Eastern Kentucky was doomed. First, they came for our outhouses. We said nothing. Then they came for our coal and, noting our earlier silence, we were powerless to resist.

Remember when going shopping at Sears was an event?

I remember when KMart was at the top of the shopping chain. Great place to shop. They had little competition and got complacent. No one to help on the floor. Walmart came along and provided the in-store service KMart dropped and practically drove them out of business. Walmart reached the top and they too dropped the on-floor employees and open cashier lines. Walmart is smarter than KMart was but, unless they stay sharp, Amazon will eventually put a big dent in them. Then, somehow, Amazon will have to be reigned in for the good of the businesses of the country.

I thought I posted earlier today but I guess I didn't. Dad wasn't feeling too good this morning and thinks he's getting a cold. We didn't go out today. That means I stayed in all day listening to tunes and watching movies. I did get the cast iron skillets hung on the wall. 6", 8", 8", 10", 10", 12". I decided the stainless skillets can stay in the cabinet.

We haven't turned the heat on yet and it's pretty cool in my house. It's 65° which isn't cold, but it's a little chilly when you're just sitting around. I've got on a UK fleece with sweat pants and a pair of wool socks. Feels pretty good.

Ah, the memories. My brother and I both used our dad's connections to get jobs on the Alaska Pipeline in the summer of 1976. We were both teenagers. When we got back, he bought a 1973 Monte Carlo with some of his savings and I bought a 1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. They were both junk. I managed to drive my Cutlass until 1979, when the engine blew as I was making my way from Virginia to Florida. I had it towed into a shade tree garage in South Carolina, and a guy who liked the looks of the Cutlass swapped me even for an Opel Kadet mini-wagon. I drove the Opel to Florida, and when it got dark hit the headlights -- and it didn't have any! The electrical wiring was completely shot. Man, how did we all survive those days?

Good morning from ATX. Currently 51°F. Expecting 56°F later today. Some area flooding hit north and west of us. Entire cars swept away. Houses flooded. More light rain expected tomorrow. Luckily, we live at the top of a hill.

I stayed up late last night working on a survey. Earned $15 for 2.5 hours. Tried keeping at minimum wage, but missed. Meh, still $15.

Happy Hump Day.

Y'all behave.
