43.7°F here and we did not get frost as predicted.

Blue White game and Vandy this weekend. Best time of the year with both sports going.
I forgot about basketball, when is the Blue - White game? I don't want to miss it if I can catch it on TV. I would imagine it is not going to conflict with the football game is it?

They ought to be ashamed.
They know no shame Don. Several years ago I had a 525 BMW. I took it to the dealership to get the oil changed. When I left there I stopped at the store, come back out and my battery was dead. I called the dealership and asked if the could bring me a battery and install it. ( I was maybe 3 city blocks from the dealership) He said "yes, bringing it and install it for $400 dollars". I called my son, he went to Walmart and got me one for 59 dollars and we put it in , took about 10 minutes

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueanites, Wildcats and the other folks.
  • 52º when I came out this morning, up to 64º now in Johns Creek.
  • Clean your battery cables this weekend. 10 minutes or less. If your battery is 4/5 years old, install a new one.
  • I did business with this family for years in their auto service shop. I gave them my brake jobs, water pumps, bought sets of tires, etc. I checked their price on a set of tires and Sears beat them by $150.00. That was it for me. I was a 20 year customer. and they treated me like a stranger. That was it for me.

One of these litttle guys is in the house, and we have been unable to evict it. We too slow. I bought a nifty net this morning on my JR trip. Will try again when I go up for my shower. Carolina Wren. Cute little thing.
  • That's it.
  • As you were. Carry on.

Close curtains & blinds, then turn out the lights to darken the room. Open the door. Now try to catch and it will fly out the open door.

TFA. Son, I'm 75. Every day above ground is a good day.
How true.

I finally got good news from my doctor today.

For two years I have had prostate cancer. On January 10, 2017 I had surgery and they planted 77 titanium “seeds” in my prostate (the titanium seeds are laced with Iodine 125, the active radioactive isotope that produces the neutrons to kill the cancer cells).

The procedure went well and by mid-2017 my PSA (Prostate specific antigen) dropped to a really low point. Then this summer (2018) the PSA started going up again. Three months ago, they told me that I produced too much testosterone and if the PSA did not go down they could only fight the cancer by giving me a shot to lower my testosterone and hope that the cancer would not be aided by the testosterone. I can have no more radiation to that area as it could cause additional abnormal cells.

Well, now to the good news: today I was told that the PSA dropped from 0.359 to 0.22 so no shot is necessary, and I don’t have to have the PSA tested again for six months.

The last three months have been hell because it indicated that my cancer was coming back. I talked to a couple of my doctor friends about the shots and they, off the record, said that they would not take them. So, I resolved that I was not about to take the shots to lower my testosterone as it makes you feel like shit, possibly makes you diabetic and aids in osteoporosis, which I have. So the decision not to take the testosterone lower shot was not necessary.

I am a happy camper. My goal is to get as old as Don and to continue to be as nice a man as my friend Don.

Praise the Lord and thank you for that wonderful report. Prayers are answered

That is good news. Hang in there. Thanks for the compliment.

Thank you FutureCityCats, Your comments are refreshing. So many of us do not understand just how much and how deep our Christian faith can be. The Holy Spirit is a gift from God and ministers to us on this earth. He is a comforter in this world of turmoil and has gotten me through many trials of this life. Where would we be without Him? Christ is waiting on us in heaven but His Spirit is with us always until we make it to our eternal home.

.....and the people said, Amen. FCC

Great news Bert! I'm happy to hear that.

Dad and I had an adventure today. Mostly rode around out in the country but we did go to one piddler mall. I think we're going to take that one off our list because it's not a very good one.

Beautiful Fall day today. Leaves are starting to turn, sunny with a cool breeze. I love it.

We need to jump on Vandy hard. We don't need a squeak by win.

I'm taking the Blue team on Sunday. I like to live on the edge.

Smashburgers coming up soon. Mmmm...

I once had a Mercury Lynx. Couldn't get it to start for nothing. Took it to a dealership for $60 diagnosis (a long time ago). Told me it was a bad coil wire. I happened to have a new one with me, They said, "That'll be $18 to install it." I said, "I ain't paying you $18 to install that wire. Push my car outside and I'll do it." He snatched it out of my hand saying "Gimme that!" He installed it in about 15 seconds. It was easier to do that than push it outside,

Yes but you'll still have to pay the full rate if he has to bail you out.

I have read some King James Bible stuff early in my life. I got frustrated with all the thee and thou stuff. Didn't make sense and I was pretty sure Jesus didn't talk that way. But at the church I grew up in, that's what was used. When it was read, I just quit listening. Finally, I was in college, Samford Pharmacy School in Birmingham, I was required to take a Bible Class 101. And required to purchase the Revised Standard Version.

In 1993 they released the NRSV, that is the New Revised Standard Version. Here's a little bit from the introduction. "The NRSV is one among a large number of recent translations of the whole or parts of the Bible that together give to the present generation of English readers an unprecedented variety of fresh renderings of the original languages. All these are informed by significant advances in historical, archaeological, and linguistic knowledge that have occurred in recent decades."

The NRSV uses the original language when it uses the word men or women and the KING James doesn't. There was a bias toward men. Here's an example from Luke 2:14.

NRSV- Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors.

New King James- Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men.

The English Version is used at my church now. I found on the net a thing where they compared the NRSV and the English version. Can't remember details but my discernment was the NRSV was significantly better and closer to the original language. Therefore I highly recommend it. You will be glad you did. FCC.

I have come across many translations of the Bible. And still find myself returning to the King James Version.

Hey Ghost. Sup? I use the Harper/Collins NRSV Study Bible. At the bottom of the page, just below the scripture, there is comments, explainations, etc. about almost every verse. And I mean good stuff. I have underlined alot of information from there. It's late and I'm getting fuzzy, but I think this info at the bottom is called annotation version. The annotated NRSV. I used the RSV for 20 years and now the NRSV for 25 years. FCC.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 60°F. More lovely rain forecast later today. Should see a pleasant 67°F high. Area flooding remains an issue. Lake Travis is 144% full.

I have a Microsoft Teams class later this morning about 4 miles from here. Afterwards, I'm riding back to work with a colleague.

Happy Friday.

Y'all behave.

That will make the Christmas song not be right at all.

I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
and wild and sweet
The words repeat
and on earth peace among those whom he favors!

Welp, boys and girls, 55 years ago today this simple 19 year old hillbilly boy married a cute little barely-18 Indiana girl. We vowed to God, our families and our friends that it would be "til death do us part." We have endeavored to persevere and just might make it.

We invited the Kennedys (TS) to our wedding but, unfortunately, they could not make it. However, Trump is in town today (for our anniversary?) and we'll head out this afternoon for the Mesa Rally tonight. I'm sure he came for our anniversary but decided to fit in a rally to kill two birds with one stone.

Morning D...it's Friday.

Heard this on the way in...thought it was fitting for the weekend. Basketball on the horizon & football looking up

Outside in the cold distance
A Wildcat did growl
Two riders were approaching
And the wind began to howl...

Have a great day all!
BTW congrats on the good news Bert.
