D-League

Good morning. Austin I'm sorry you won't be going to the game but it is kinda cool that a UK football game ticket is going for premium prices. Meanwhile, in Louisville, they're back to giving out football tickets in pairs if you buy a loaf of bread at Kroger. They're probably giving away free crackers at the stadium to entice people to buy an overpriced drink. Marketing genius.

  • Good Morning, D-League
  • Low of 72º and sunny with a high of 89.
  • On my second cup of coffee by the pool.
  • Breakfast is my favorite meal. I have to have those eggs and grits.
  • I am still celebrating Saturday night but I am going to calm down now and get ready for the biggest game of the year so far. (although topping the Florida win at the Swamp will be hard)
  • We can beat Texas A&M. I am expecting victory
  • enhance

  • enhance

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueanites and Lurkers.
  • 64º when I first checked it this morning. Clear blue sky. Beautiful as it gets.
  • My coffee is very good.
  • The ATM game has me so excited. I just can't hide it Come on come on.
  • If Brett Kavenaugh is so awful, why isn't one single Republican accusing him of throwing ice when he was in college? Jesus.
  • Good speech by Mitch McConnell.
  • Watch those IDMOs. Don't let them kill you.
  • As you were. Carry on.

I think every federal judge, senator and representative that drank a beer before the legal age and was not a virgin when they got married should resign by midnight tonight. They can't be trusted and are obvious racist.

Afternoon all.
It's been a little while....life, work & stuff. It happens.
When I was in Pennsylvania last week I left work early to drive to Harrisburg (my flight was leaving early there the next morning). I drove on down to Gettysburg and did the auto-tour of the Civil War battlefields/events. That was very interesting. I'm not a "Civil War" person but I highly recommend it if you get the chance.
Last Saturday night was our Bluesfest....turnout wasn't what we had hoped. We had a good turnout for the afternoon but not many hung around for the headliner. King Bee & the Stingers, out of Bloomington, they are very good ... even if they are from Bloomington.

When I was Mayor I would have lunch with Mitch McConnell when he was in the area.

Most folks don't understand how smart the little fellow is. He does not have one ounce of arrogance and often is self-depreciating. His first response to a tough question is to ask another question. He is charged with the task of herding a bunch of cats and based on history he is good at it. Over the years (1984 to present) he has proven to be one effective Senator. I would never want to be on the opposite side of him in a political war. He will beat you.

Did you notice that Mitch has notes to reference when giving his talks. Chuck has to read his word by word and often evens screws that up.

I still have a cassette for the car tour.

Very nice OldEville. I love visiting Gettysburg - which is an easy day trip for me. So many remarkable American stories associated with that battle. One that always touches me involves the father covering the battle as a reporter who found the body of his oldest son, killed in the fighting. The dispatch the father wrote for his newspaper that day MAY have influenced Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.

On the 'Kavanaugh Scale' in which throwing ice and drinking beer as a teenager disqualifies you based on how much you participated in such shenanigans I wouldn't be allowed to work at any job except human crash test dummy.

I went to DC, Baltimore, Philly and Gettysburg on my honeymoon. Had a ball (new wife stayed home and canned peaches).

The Outback is the closest to me and this one would allow my son and his family to come down. But I will attend any bowl game in Florida and maybe a few out of state.

I'll meet you there. Couldn't believe I heard my wife tell someone on the phone that we would be going to the Outback Bowl if the Cats went. I think she'll be in for anywhere in Florida as well.

Still have some of it.

I've tried to get more but they haven't had any since I got that one. Can't remember the name of it.

That's what I'm saying. They don't need the extra one......
If I had an extra one I would give it to you. I only have two though.

My son and I spent way too much time there. My wife found on particular interest it it by Lee and I went there often. (It was only a 30 minute drive from my house.)
Another favorite story about Gettysburg, which I think shows the real tragedy of that war, involves a Pvt. John Wesley Culp of the 2nd Virginia Regt. He grew up in Gettysburg, playing on a family property there known as Culp's Hill. He later followed a job to Virginia, and when the war came joined a Confederate outfit. His unit got into fierce combat during the battle of Gettysburg and he was killed -- attacking his family's property at Culp's Hill where he played as a boy.

There are several more twists to his story. More details here. http://www.gettysburgscv.org/John_Wesley_Culp.html

I think they should draw a name out of a hat - excluding the guys that already have a BGE.

Here's mine.

Hey it's October so it's time to watch scary flicks. If you haven't seen this one then I'd highly recommend it. The acting is a little hokey but the story line is great IMO. It won a Genie award, whatever the hell that is.

Anybody seen the relatively new horror flick Hereditary? I'm not sure I can recommend it. It grossed me out in at least one scene. It seems bizarre in places. But it definitely has the unsettling, creep-out factor.

Good morning all! 73 degrees this morning in beautiful SWFL. High of 90 today. Have to get blood work done this morning, just routine stuff. I just hate the fasting part. Happy Hump day!

If the Cats come to a Bowl in Florida, we will all have to meet up somewhere, that would be fun. Everyone have a great day, will check in later. GO CATS!
