D-League

Morning folks.

After having scanned my weather gauges for any tampering, I can now advise all that it is 60°F outside and that we got an additional inch of rain yesterday. That brings the total for the last week to 5.25 inches.

I have installed electric shock protection on my weather devices with motion detectors and 24/7 cameras.

I'm watching my wife go through some emotional anguish right now. She's just over 50. Her best friend since she was a college girl at the University of Maryland has been told she has weeks -- maybe a month -- to live from the spread of breast cancer. My wife is doing most of the work caring for her friend, as the woman's parents are in their 80s and live out of town. It's a draining experience.

Rough days. I lost my best friend in August 2015. You don't get over things like that.

Thanks Bert. And sorry to hear that. I lost my closest boyhood friend in 2016. We'd not been as close as adults once I moved away but it is still a shock. I thought of him just this morning when it turned cold and it felt like squirrel hunting weather. His mother would make us stew...

My friend after he caught a big marlin.

Yep, it was Guestroom. They had a discwasher knockoff for 20 bucks but I went for the heavy artillery. I told them you gave me the tt and I could afford to go top shelf. Dude said "someone GAVE you a turntable?" I told him yes, that's what UK fans do. I was wearing a UK shirt and neither of them said a word. I pegged them as UL fans as soon as I saw them.

I had a Pioneer turntable (forgot the model) that I sold earlier this year for $400 on Craigslist. The guy who bought it restores them and resells them. My audiophile days are long behind me.

I'll attend the game on the 18th or perhaps 23rd. Leaning more towards Friday, November 23rd, because Lexington buses should still run after the game.

Friday after Thanksgiving is likely my only chance this year as well. I'll be in Kentucky, and possibly visiting my son in Lexington after my parents on Turkey Day -- unless my son wants to leave the campus and hang with his cousins and uncles an extra day after weeks of classes. If it works out for both of us, I'll buy you a beer or a shot of bourbon, Austin.

Sounds great.

I'll provide you with more info as the date moves closer. Thanks!

Ha ha! Sure, lunch would be great. Maybe your Dad could join us this time.

Hopefully he'll be up for it before too long.

But not yet.

Nope. :weary:

Dad's doing much better today. He'll prolly get out of there in the next couple of days. Be glad for us to get back on our normal schedule.

Had to go to the store tonight so we wouldn't have to hurry in the morning. Wedding blues.

I'm betting on the Cats tomorrow and I'm not even scared at all. Their run defense is porous and Snell and Rose should be able to exploit it. Williams has been thisclose on the deep balls. I say he connects for a couple tomorrow.:football::cool2:

Ran into a UK grad earlier this week at work. Geology grad major. She earned an MS from UK and knows the deal about UK football and basketball. We discussed Fran Curci and the old school teams. Blew my mind. I turned her on to our local alumni club.

I haven't been this fired up about Kentucky football in forever. We can win this!

Go Cats!

  • Good Morning, D-League
  • 74º and sunny in the City of Mermaids. High of 90 but about 80 at kickoff.
  • Trust the rains have stopped where they are not needed and the dry out continues
  • This is a very important day for UK football. If we can take care of business we should be in good shape the rest of the season. Barring injuries and the unexpected.
  • A Florida bowl would be nice this year. My grand kids would come down for a fun time when the weather is the best.
  • Coffee is extra good this morning. Not into fad brands, just want a black cup of strong coffee the kick starts my day. I rediscovered an old brand that was one of my daddy's favorites about 70 years ago, Eight O'Clock The Original. It tastes mighty fine.
  • Beat South Carolina. Beat South Carolina. Beat South Carolina. It is important.
  • Stay safe, sport fans. Stay safe.

Morning D. There is a spider - relatively huge, a solid 1.75 inches across, black with golden spots, that has spun a web directly over my front door.

So, no problem, whack it with a broom and move on. Except - this same spider was on the side of the house for a few weeks and my wife has been watching it, and eventually grew fond of it. She's documenting it's Charlotte-like journey on Facebook.

So I can't even get in and out of my house normally. I'm a backdoor only man for now, so to speak.
