Love these walks down memory lane. Thank you Don

Evening, the D. Taking a break from Florence prep. One of these days, the media and govt. will scream "Wolf" once too often for a hurricane, and no one will listen. That will be the storm that will kill hundreds of people. Charleston essentially shut down this evening.Guess what? Now they tell us the storm won't get here til Saturday/Sunday. Some businesses shut down Monday...so a week of business is essentially gone.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 75°F. Heading to 89°F. Chance of showers later tonight.

I'm not going to the pub after work today. Saving it for Saturday night after the game.

Election campaigning heating up. All sorts of commercials shown on TV. Also on TV: woman in Texas City whose home has been flooded 20 times in 40 years. Wow.

Y'all stay safe and behave.

Mornin' D. I'm so confused by the weather news here that I'm prepared this weekend to either row out my upstairs window in a rescue boat after torrential rains or use the last of my summer sun screen to keep from getting sunburned on a hike. I heard someone describe the increasingly urgent Florence newscasts as "Weather Porn." That's about right. Now I've just tuned it all out.

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueanites and Lurkers.
  • 73º in Johns Creek. Overcast. We gone get it. Trace of rain yesterday and last night.
  • Lots of cancelled football games. Too many to remember.
  • Woke up real early. Couldn't sleep.
  • Lola got up too. Didn't want her waking QB up needlessly.
  • Florence is the news. Sounds like things will be a mess.
  • Daylight finally.
  • Happy to see that SawneeCat is much better. Sepsis is a very serious condition.
  • We need to pray for RailroadCat and get him on the mend.
  • The IDMOs almost got me last night. Bad-driving turds.
  • Watch out for them anytime you're out.
  • Carry on.

I doubt that you will need that sun screen. I hope you don't need a boat.

  • Good Morning, D-League friends
  • 75º and sunny on the Nature Coast. High 91. Chance of showers. Carbon copy of yesterday, the day before and the day before and on and on. We get in a weather pattern down here and it stays.
  • Slept good last night but a year ago I was boarding up the house and waiting for the big one.
  • The Storm of A Lifetime fizzled out before it got to us. But it did bring some much needed rain.
  • These hurricane's are a pain in the neck but without them we don't have a Florida. The 20 or 30 inches of rain they drop over night fills up our aquifers and marshes. This sustains life.
  • Thanks Wildcat Don for your well wishes. I had never heard of sepsis and some how got it. The doc told me it was life threatening so from now on I will be on my toes when it comes to health matters.
  • I have gone 75 years without ever really being sick. I have a bad back (stenosis) but that was bones and nerve damage not on the same level as blood infections. So when it comes to medical terms and ailments they are all Greek to me. I can't tell you one pill from another just that one is white and round another is white and oblong and another is green or brown. Or what ever. I am going to study up on this stuff.
  • Prayers for RailroadCat to make a complete recovery
  • Drive defensively

I think that Pancho was added for the radio show, but I'm not sure. I was listening to an old radio show (1952 ) and Pancho was included.
Radio is how I grew up. We had a big Philco in the front room and we all gathered around that for entertainment. I never missed The Shadow, Gene Autry, Roy and Dale, Jack Benny, Amos N Andy and all the rest. Of course UK football and basketball on WHAS was priority number one. I was 14 before we got a TV.

Hello all, Sunny as all get out in SWFL. rain later today, like every day. I have never understood why people want to " honker down " when a hurricane is coming. Get the hell out of town! Collateral damage can kill you, tree on your house, storm surge, etc.
Hope everyone feeling bad gets better. Thursday night football for you NFL fans, Baltimore @ Cincinnati.

Talked to my oldest sister last night, she lives in downtown Cincy. She walked down to Busken Bakery last week to get some raisin bread. The store is in the 5/3 bank building where the shooting was last week. Her and the little girl that worked there heard the shooting and locked themselves in the bathroom. Scary times for her

Morning D
Well - not so great news. My son is being sent home, for sure. His injury is such that he's being discharged. I hate it for him, as he wanted this so badly. His wife said that he sounded okay on the phone though; disappointed but upbeat. This puts them in a major bind financially, but I'm sure everything will work out. Also found out he's one of four from his platoon being medically discharged.
Tonight my youngest gets to do his first pep band thing. Should be fun - even if it's only a volleyball game, LOL.
Looking forward to the football game Saturday - that's a crazy thing to say, but there you go!
Hope all are well; have a good day
