D-League

72.0° F here and heavy overcast with thin fog. 99% humidity.

Thanks to all for the anniversary wishes. We had our normal day with a very nice dinner to finish out the day. A couple sat down at the adjoining table and we struck up a conversation. They are engaged to be married. She had just ended a 26-year relationship and he a 30. Great people.

Our waitress was late in getting our bill and we had to hail her down. She said our neighbors had taken care of our bill and to have a happy anniversary.

That has never happened to me before. Those folks picked up a big bill for us.

SawneeCat, what exactly in layman terms happened to you to cause you so much trouble? I never have understood. I think I remember that you mentioned some initials, but I did not understand what they stood for. Tell me if you want to.
Don, I had a kidney and blood infection. The infection has cleared up but left me weak. Nothing life threatening or permanent damage. I just need to take it easy things should be Okay.

I have been blessed with excellent health all of my life and will make it through this. Thanks for your prayers and support.

Good morning. Wife just brought me coffee and I've been awake for about 20 minutes. Got stuff to do today and that includes mowing the grass. If it doesn't rain.

Need to go to Lowes and pick up some treated 2x4's.

Liked what I heard after our scrimmage yesterday. I believe that Wilson is going to be our QB this year and that he will bring a new level of excitement. Look for Snell to be in Heisman talks this year, man is on a mission.

@Bert Higginbotha , will you give me a call as soon as you get a chance? Thanks.

Good morning all. 70°⇨ 83° and overcast here, with more rain likely.
  • Hope RailroadCat and SawneeCat get to feeling better.
  • Happy belated anniversary Bert.
  • No NFL for me either.
  • Great choice of music Don. I love 60's music.

Here's a great documentary that I highly recommend watching on Netflix:

Taking the day slow today, going to take wife and daughter out to lunch then, back to the house for some potato time on the couch. Been raining most of the night and more coming today so, decided to give the Large Mouths a break.

Daughter starts 7th grade Wednesday and we have a meet and greet with the teachers tomorrow night. Got to bone up on my people skills, I can be quite crass at times (by design mostly), keeps people at bay, off guard, or both.

Thank you for the information.

I've seen this a couple of times.

Well, I'm outta here for awhile. On my way to Lowes, my favorite store, to get some wood and whatever else catches my eye. Oh yeah, need to pick up some tung oil and mineral spirits too. After hours and hours of research and an informative call from my good friend Bert, I've decided to use tung oil as the finish for the table. Picked up some other good tidbits as well. Thanks Bert! Someday I hope to be able to pass your knowledge on to someone else.

blush!

You give me too much credit. You are the bright one!

Just got back from Lowes and another hundred has bit the dust. Went ahead and got drawer slides and hinges. Didn't cheap out on either and both are soft close because that's important. Or not.

Picked up a 32 gig thumbdrive Bert. If you want anything besides the top 100 let me know. There are 7 Simon and Garfunkel albums.

@UK82 haha, my receiver in the shop has phono capability. I looked at it before and didn't see it. It's mounted up high. No way I'll take the tt out there due to the dust and I can't get the receiver down because the table is in the way until I finish. Oh well, now I'm looking for a receiver for the shop again.

Fill it up. But the priority is the top 100. I am interested to know just how many of them that I have.

Some girls like skinny red headed boys. Also it could have been my wealth. I had $75 and a car payment. How could she pass up such money.

My mother was a redhead and a brother was a skinny redhead. We called him - wait for it - "Red." I always told him that I would rather be dead than to be red on the head..

I haven't seen it yet but it's definitely on my "to watch" list.

If you like reading books about the Vietnam War then I'd recommend The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien.

I wish I had an extra receiver to give you. I'll keep my eye open just in case. I've seen them go for dirt cheap at yard sales.

For your consideration since you were looking for a Technics receiver. The most powerful vintage receiver ever made. 330 watts per channel. This will go perfectly in your shop. Of course it'll set you back several grand too.

What did you think of it @starchief5 ?

I liked it but I liked the original Vietnam series better.

I like most war documentaries but they just repeat the same footage over and over again. I've seen one poor guy getting shot on the beach on D-Day at least 50 times. I just watched Private Ryan last week for about the fifth time.

I just started watching a series on WW1. That was the war that changed the modern world.

What was also fascinating about WWI is that the Spanish flu epidemic was going on at the same time.

I had a Technics receiver. Looked like that one. It put out 160 wpc. I may have paid $10-20 bucks for it back in the day. Thing weighed a ton. I gave it to a daughter when she left home and she gave it away.:uzi:

I was just saying that the other day after watching a WW2 documentary. They kept showing the same plane scene over and over.

It's on there now and there are 8.5 gigs left over. I'll refer to your list from last week and add some. I know you already have a bunch of tunes but it's free to have repeats.

You've given me enough, thanks. I picked up that Kenwood for $25. Pretty sure I'll find another one before long.
