D-League

Are the kittens property?
Yes, Livestock.OK they're pets(pests) too?
I have to report it to the conservation officer within 24 hours.
Good, photograph document to evidence coons, contact officer, acquire tomahawk live trap, remove nuisance animals. Give them to do-gooders or wild release. Yeah, I know they've got too much air. Spare me. Keep the tomahawk. Tool you need for humane capture and removal of nuisance cats and raccoons. You'll be right popular real quick. Sliding door on rear of trap allows easy baiting. Can of tuna works. Spring loaded access drops drops safely trapping the animal inside. I insert access drop door into a restrained burlap bag releasing animal into bag. Tie off bag and place wild animal bag and all into proper transport crate. Nothing injured.
Don't want to have to explain.
Take charge and do it right.

A good friend of mine caught a grown female raccoon in one of those things. We took her to the Chattahoochee River, and she wanted to eat us both. Coons are badass.

JV hiring an agent. I can't figure this one out. Has he even had his surgery? I wish him the best but damn. Now the only pieces left of the puzzle is Hagans reclassifying and Travis transferring. I like our chances with both BUT I won't be comfortable until it's official.

The Reid Travis decision is the one that has me the most uncomfortable.

Looks like Reid Travis is visiting Lexington tomorrow. Very positive sign.

Honestly, I'll be thrilled if Kentucky comes out of this day with Wasington and Travis. Washington was the most critical of the original three. Vanderbilt just had me confused and nervous - was he ever going to be healthy? What's wrong with his relationship with Cal? I really liked Wenyen but he was just too inconsistent. Travis seems like precisely what the Cats need - a tough, skilled offensive threat.

If they can land Travis then it's a really good day for the Cats. Hagans only needs to pass one English class to qualify for reclassification. It'll be a guard heavy class but that's actually a good thing especially since 3 can easily play the swing position.

Not to worried we lose Wenyen and JV...Hate to be a killjoy but Wenyen seemed always lost on defense, yes he could hit some three's but that was streaky...JV played in 7 games, rebounded but his shooting was very odd. My opinion may be different had JV played a whole season...PJ is the home run here. Will contribute from the start..( PRACTICE FREE THROWS PJ ) Kid from Stanford (if we get him ) is a solid step up from what we lost...JMO

Evening, the D. Cops are still dumbfounded about the shooting yesterday. Absolutely no further updates about the suspect OR the victim, so drugs weren’t involved. Dead guy had a couple of misdemeanors but nothing major. Was 29 years old. I’m convinced he was involved with the wrong woman who has a jealous BF/husband

I could honestly make the case that everything worked out perfectly.
Washington was by far the most important, the best all-round returning player. Vanderbilt could have been great but I don't think we could ever trust his health or his 'wannabe' as a college player. Gabriel was inconsistent on offense and just seemed to lack the instincts to be a good defender.

So what does their departure mean? A much better shot at Reid Travis - a seasoned player who averaged 20 points and 9 boards. And, a clear shot at playing time for EJ Montgomery and Nick Richards to blossom.

It speaks volumes for the strength of the UK basketball program when they can lose 7 scholarship players out of 11 (Baker didn't play and Tai really didn't either) and still be a top 5 team the following year. Of course I'm counting on some good news within the next few days too. Gotta be proud to bleed blue!

Good morning D League. Busy day - at work, then with older daughter and her husband and my granddaughter coming in from Kansas City for my son's graduation which is tomorrow.

I'm content with the way yesterday turned out - as long as the Reid Travis transfer pans out. The Cats needed Washington back the most. I've talked to two friends who follow the PAC-10 closely and they say Travis was the best overall big man in the conference.

I didn't trust Vanderbilt's health or his desire to be at Kentucky to be honest. Too big a risk that we'd have been scratching our heads over another mystery injury next March. As for Wenyen, I'd have loved for him to return, but realistically he was behind four guys in the forward rotation (KJ, EJ, Washington and Travis.) if he needs to make money for his family, good luck to him.

Yesterday was a good day. I bought a washing machine to replace my old one that my wife burned the motor up in. The one I bought is way better than my old one. I got a $1,000 washing machine for $50 because the man said it leaked, put a little duck tape on it and it never leaked a drop.

Happy PJ is coming back and it looks like we will get Reid Travis.

Today is my son's last day of school, i look forward to our summers together, we spend a lot of time in the creek.

JV is puzzling. But I sense nothing more sinister other than maybe a bad wheel. Ectomorphs being slim are vulnerable to frailty issues.

Good morning. I'm not going to be able to keep a close eye on it today, but if someone would post here if Travis decides to come then I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Got a phone call last night at 2310 from the nursing home. My father has been complaining about a pain in his leg for awhile and yesterday they did another Xray. Turns out his hip is fractured. He just called me from the hospital and said the doctor needed to talk to me and my sister as soon as possible. This wasn't the osteo doc, it was a resident. Talking about re-breaking the hip and doing the plates and rods and screw business.

I told him to tell them no, he did not want them to operate on his hip. He has one leg and doesn't walk. There is no need for them to put him through the type of pain this operation would cause or to have to deal with the pain of the extended healing period. He wouldn't be able to sit in his chair for several weeks and would be confined to the bed.

He's going to call me back when the osteo doc shows up. I think it's best if I don't meet with them face to face. Why should I be the one to tell them the benefits do not outweigh the risks when you're talking about a major surgery on an 86 year old man who has one leg, is diabetic, and has end stage renal disease on dialysis? What would they tell him if he didn't have the VA insurance?

The high in Paducah is heading up to 92* and Hi Humidity. I'm glad PJ Washington is coming back. Surprised to see Vanderbilt not return but wish him well, he will need it!
Feeling better.
FCC is having his kids over looking the garden cultivating, pulling weeds, hoeing and dusting with 7 dust. He sits in a rocker on the back porch drinking iced tea.

Morning all
At work today

I’m actually good with what went down as far as announcements. I know we lost a lot of players but breaking them down individually all but one makes sense:
Knox and SGA: both probably lottery. SGA was supposed to be a 2-3 ye player but he was much better than thought. They both made the right decision
Wynyard and SKJ; both transferred out. With Tai..there was that trouble that probably made it impossible to return. I’ve been told with SKJ he was asked to leave due to his grades. Even after announcing he was leaving, several schools turned him down due to academics. He wouldn’t have been eligible to play here this fall. With a transfer he will have a year to get on track
Diallo; I think there were a lot of chemistry issues with him. I don’t think he’s a bad kid by any means but he did argue everything Cal told him to do. Cared about his teammates but he wanted to do his own thing and he never seemed to buy into team play
Vanderbilt.. now this one is an enigma. You have the injury issues for one. Given his history, I believe he would have had the same problems next year and played limited games. Also...he was cleared to play after that “sprain.” He refused...I’ve never known a player to flat out refuse unless there is a hidden reason. Even Cal called him out in the media and he NEVER does that. And there have been rumors of Cal butting heads with handlers. Those guys have been in Vanderbilt’s ear and he’s listening to them. I think Cal got fed up and told him to go
Gabriel was the surprise for me. I really thought he’d be back. He won’t get drafted but maybe he can make a name for himself
I really believe Cal meant what he said about not being held hostage again and he cleaned house. He won’t throw kids under the bus, but that’s what my gut is telling me
This is pure speculation on my part. I think though we will have a really good team next year, especially if we get Travis.

I really enjoyed watching these boys grow toward adulthood. Of course I disagree with some decisions. I would have liked Tai on this team. Don't understand the big Ha-boob. Many of my friends (past & present) own and sometimes carry pistols. Occasionally, I've heard them refer to as "Bodyguards". So what? Obviously, times have changed. Sure, if you shoved Tai, he'd shove back. Nick has that edge. I didn't perceive character flaws in our players. Their behavior was measured and generally appropriate. John does a remarkable job. He is now building a team that seems to have that measured aggression. Looking forward to the season once again. Go Big Blue!

So sorry to hear this Ymmot.

My prayer will do little good, but I am praying for the best outcome for your dad.

What a man! :joy:

This kind of life was quite common as I grew up. Obvious extreme poverty but I think people were happier I grew up poor but not in poverty. I go back and all those shacks are long gone, replaced by mobile homes. I miss the 50s.

Based on the number of dollars flowing through Mom and Dad's bank account we would have been called poor; however, we had a 200 acre farm, paid for, and we grew cows, hogs and a five acre garden. So we actually lived like kings. It took a little work, but oh did we enjoy life.

Two old men had been friends most of their lives. When it was clear
that Frank was dying, Leonard visited him every day.

One day Leonard said, "Frank, we both loved playing golf all our
lives, and we started playing in high school. Please do me one favor:
when you get to heaven, somehow you must let me know if there's golf
there."

Frank looked up at Leonard from his deathbed and said, "Leonard,
you've been my best friend for many years. If it's at all possible,
I'll do this favor for you."

Shortly after that, Frank died.

A few weeks later, Leonard was awakened from a sound sleep by a
blinding flash of white light and a voice calling out to him,
"Leonard!"

"Who is it?" asked Leonard, sitting up suddenly. "Who is it?"

"Leonard -- it's me, Frank."

"You're not Frank. Frank just died."

"I'm telling you, it's me, Frank," insisted the voice.

"Frank! Where are you?"

"In heaven," replied Frank. "I have some really good news and a little
bad news."

"Tell me the good news first," said Leonard.

"The good news," Frank said with joy and enthusiasm, "is that there is
golf in heaven. Better yet, all of our old buddies who died before me
are here too. Even better than that, we're all young again. Better
still, it's always Summertime and it never rains. And best of all, we
can play golf all we want, and we never get tired. And we get to play
with all the greats of the past."

"That's fantastic," said Leonard. "It's beyond my wildest dreams! So
what's the bad news?"

"You're in my foursome this Saturday.
