D-League

Heart of the sunrise, 59°F. Highs will a be in the low 80°F today but be triple digits by the end of the week. I'd like to be a snow bird and migrate out of here, at least to higher elevations like Flagstaff. The winds have calmed down. They were really strong yesterday afternoon into the evening, could be a rough couple of day's across the country. Headed your way BBN.

Me too. Shave left handed too. I can drive a nail with a hammer equally well with either hand. Comes in handy from time to time. I laugh at the righties who hold their fork with their left hand while they cut their steak with their right hand, then put the knife down and grab the fork with the right hand to eat the bite.
Feeling arrogant like that leads to gun fights out in Flagstaff![eyeroll]

I got heat trapped in Phoenix airport one day. It was 122 and we had to wait until it got below 120.

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueans and Oasis Seekers,
  • 73º and sunny in Johns Creek. Just beautiful and quiet and peaceful. Definitely VFR today.
  • 1st mug of Dark Magic going down.
  • Fish fed.
  • I need for #4 to get up and go to JR's for food. I'm hungry.
  • Lola says hey. Cute puppy. Almost 6 months old.
  • Another water lillie greeted me this morning. Nature at its best.
  • That's it.
  • Have a nice safe day.

One time Dad found a clutch of Quail eggs in the weeds on the right of way that was about to be cleared for railroad construction. He put them in his cap and kept them warm all day. We had Bantams at home, and Dad put the eggs in one of their nests. They hatched. The baby Quail were about the size of a thumb. It was cute. When the Quail chicks started flying the Bantam mother couldn't understand the flying part. They stayed around our place until they do what they do.

Where would we be without organic chemistry? It plays a huge part in our everyday lives. Nice we're having weather too.

Been awake for half an hour, coffee is here with me but I don't smell any breakfast cooking.

My plans for the day are in limbo right now. I'll have to wait until later to see what the weather is going to do.

That same front moved our way. High wind gusts right now.

Glad I never had to take organic chemistry for my major. I'd probably still be at UK if I would have needed it. Still in college doesn't sound like a horrible idea.

@ymmot31 are you gearing up for Derby since you're in Louisville?
No more than usual. I'm just starting to read a little about the horses. I'll get more serious after post positions are drawn. I watched the fireworks on tv and haven't been to a chow wagon yet. Today was going to be the first.

When I was around 3 years old we lived just down the street from Churchill. Parked cars in our front and back yards for the Derby.

We still have money on our TwinSpires account. I was asking my wife about it last night but neither of us remember how much. Might need to add some this week. We started with 500 about 10 years ago. We've taken out $2,000 and had around $800 for last year. It was a tough year on us though so I'm hoping there is at least 200 left. I made some large (for me) bets last year that didn't pay off. Still ahead though.

Very nice! Gotta love capitalism. I was in the insurance industry at the time and we spent millions on companies like Kizan getting Y2K compliant.
It was the perfect storm for us. Excellent profit margins. The momentum carried over into early 2001. 9/11 changed everything. My wife worked the business until 2004. She began selling more books over Ebay. I returned to college, finished up a BS degree, and started on an MS.

ell then would you care to reveal your occupation?

Don, I've had a long career. Started out working for the state surveying for rare or threatened birds of prey as a Raptor Ecologist. Today I'm a fed serving as a Geographic Information Specialist mapping ecosystem components and developing protocols to extract information to do this for USDA.

Edited grammar with the "cold eye"

80 year-old mother in law having surgery today. Part of her foot has gangrene, so doctors removing it. Complications from diabetes. Hoping for the best.

After 3 months (Feb-Apr), and a great deal of it in ICU, my mother was moved from Florida Hospital in Orlando to a nursing home in Lakeland, closer to my youngest brother. I may travel out there this summer. Gotta see how money goes.

I'll bet that's fun.
