D-League

This mess has got to stop and stop now. I don't have the exact answer, but the U.S. has to stop this stuff from happening. Can you agree with me?

One of my best friends in college was Mohammad Ali Marough. He was a great guy, but he kept telling me why he loved the US. He could chase girls and drink beer. I half way believed him, but he told me when he would go back to his country he could not date or drink. I simply could not get my head around a society like that.

The US can mitigate some of this; however, the authorities do not monitor Mosques anymore because CAIR has raised so much hell. Our President went to Mosque every Friday with his step father in Indonesia. He refuses to connect the terror to that faith. The law enforcement agencies can monitor what the Imams teach and act on that; however, the Quran has some horrible teaching in it. So unless there is a Renaissance in Islam we are a long way from answers.

Additionally in 1850 a group of Islamic scholars in Saudi Arabia started the Wahhabi movement which has started all the militant Islamic activity that we now see. Saudi Arabia furnishes Imams all over the world so that their brand of Islam is spread. They are majority Sunni. The Wahhabi movement, in my view, is a cancer on the earth.

His parents were from Afghanistan. We bring them in to protect them and they still hate because Mohammed told them to. Plus the punishment in Islamic law for homosexual activity is death.
Don't want you to misunderstand my post, maybe you didn't, but I just want to say that I put American in quotation marks for a reason.[winking]

heart is breaking over Orlando - sick individual to have done this.

had a busy day - church this morning, then lunch, then some shopping
we came home with a pool, lol - spent the afternoon getting it set up and now filling it for use

Actually had a great time at the bars last night. Then I get up this morning and see what happened in Orlando. Put things in perspective real quick. Hope the D had a good weekend. If we don't have a mass casualty drill at my hospital sometime this week...I'll be shocked. I'm also shocked that Orlando only had ONE Level 1 trauma center. They're expensive as Hades, but Orlando has Disney money.

Road trips, gambling and fun this weekend but managed to sit on the John Deere this morning and get the grass cut. More running this afternoon. The Orlando shootings came as no surprise, in fact I figure there will be more. I have no clue of how to stop people from hating us and joining groups determined to kill us.

The D is a pleasant place to hang out in again, it is appreciated by this old geezer. I think I am ready to trade my river and hills in and make my winter home in the Florida Panhandle a year around deal. Main reason is age and location, Here on the river next to the hills, it is two hours one way to anywhere, The Panhandle is fifteen minutes at most, Regular destinations are only a few minutes.

Good morning and Happy Kitchen Klutzes of America Day.

I'm still in shock over the Orlando nightclub shooting.

@GhostVol : My cousin, a UF grad (BSN '71), worked 40 years at another Orlando-area hospital as a surgical OR nurse. She had a one-year break during the mid-70s, in which she married a guy and moved to Radcliff near Ft. Knox. That adventure lasted about a year. She returned to Orlando, continued nursing, retired 3 years ago and is living large. Anyway, good point. I'll ask her about it.

The D-League is fine for sure.

About Florida check out the medicine. The 15 years that I was there it was more expensive, care not as good and harder to find. Florida has no income tax, if your retired Kentucky does not either unless you get a windfall, but Florida property taxes are out the butt to make up the difference. In 2000 when I retired and moved to Kentucky, my property taxes in Florida were $4,200 a year. For a similar house in Kentucky it was $1.200.

Just my opinion.

Appreciated by this old geezer too Fred. FCC

Bret, I am aware of the property tax in Fla. I am retired military and the hospital and medical facilities at Eglin Air base are top notch, In fact two years ago they puled this old gut through septic pneumonia, I do appreciate the info though.

A young college kid gets drunk in public and it makes the head lines. Makes me very glad to know that the press thinks that is newsworthy. I will ask my nephew who is at Brown why he doesn't make the papers when he gets put in jail over night for public drunkenness? But then again he isn't an UK basketball player. Young man decides to play ball in a fish bowl program, every move becomes press fodder. Extra pressure?

Oh yeah, morning gentlemen and lady of the D.

  • Derek Willis drinking beer.
  • 3rd and final mug of Dark Magic.
  • That's it.

not the smartest thing for him to do - especially coming back as a senior leader. Don't mind the beer (if you're over 18 and can die for your country, you should be able to have a beer)- do mind the public intoxication charge. He should know better. Not a big deal, maybe, except for the position he's in as a UK player and senior.

Good morning D
Coffee is good and fine
Have the granddaughter today - the one reason to love Mondays
Youngest son is having difficulties - next week is a pediatric appointment; recommendation from specialist is that we need to look at anti-anxiety measures (he's mildly autistic). He's already on ADHD meds, hate to put him on anything else - hoping there is an alternate solution. Bad enough we have to increase the dosage due to weight gain and age. I've honestly kept him a little undermedicated because I didn't want him to be a zombie - and we've been working with him on using self-control for behavioral issues (impulse control, distraction, etc). He does ok, but now....
Anyway - lots more to do today
y'all have a good one
