Which machine do you guys have? The lady at the medical supply place is saying my Dr recommends the Resmed Airsense 10 and I am not 100% sure what the price will be but I think just the machine is going to be around $900 plus the coast of the mask. I can order the Phillips Dream Station online with the mask and a heated tube for under $800. I am just not sure if online stores are the best option for that stuff.
I didn't think to ask the actual results when I spoke to them earlier so I called the Dr back and it doesn't seem mine is too bad compared to some folks. According to the results I only averaged 9 episodes per hour which is considered mild but they still say I need a CPAP machine. I am not a Pulmonologist and guess I shouldn't second guess them but that seems to be pretty low to me. I read that less than 5 episodes per hour is ideal and 5-14 is mild. Now I am wondering if spending the $1,000+ will be that big of a benefit for me if mine is that mild.
Doing a cost-benefit analysis here and some additional research: did you know a monthly cost of a membership at Anytime Fitness is approx. $30-$40 per month? Not bad.

don’t know if your trolling or not but apnea isn’t always weight related...one of the Texas basketball players that played there a couple years ago and he was an athlete and normal weight.
Sure, but check out the link I posted earlier. 60-90% of adults with sleep apnea are overweight. Obesity is the #1 risk factor and there is a direct relationship. But it's easier to hook yourself up like Bane every night rather than hit the gym.
may have been answered... but... i had that issue but i have a "my pillow" and it came with an additional small size pillow of the same material... i kind's use it to keep my head in a position where i can sleep/side... i don't and never had any trouble with mine but i use a nose mask. some use a full mask... and years ago i tried "CPAP nose pillows" and i hated it... i also do not keep my mask so tight it leaves a mark on my face... yes it sometimes leaks air...Part of my problem is that I have always slept face down (no jokes, please) or on my side and the machine makes me sleep mostly on my back, which sucks. I have tried on my side, but it knocks off the seal when I move. Any tips?
From what I have read the pillows work better for side sleepers as long as you don't breathe through your mouth anyway.

Philips Dreamstation BiPap.
The machine with all the accessories was somewhere around $3,000.

OUCH!!!
The local medical supply store priced the Dreamstation machine with the humidifier at $900 plus the mask. I found the Dreamstation with humidifier on CPAP.com for $599 plus the mask. I am just not sure about not buying local in case I have issues with it. Have any of you bought from online stores? One medical supply place even said I should buy online because if I am paying out of pocket they can't compete with the online stores.
I haven't bought any equipment online, but for a $300 difference, I'd certainly roll the dice. Just make sure they have a good return/replacement policy. Most local places will let you return a mask in the first two weeks and order a different one if you don't like it. That's key especially in the beginning while you are searching for the right one. I'm not sure if the online stores offer that as well.
You must own a gym because you seem to want everyone to join.

I'm 5'10 180, a distance runner, have conformed to my wife's overpriced organic diet... and about 18 months ago she began telling me I was having spells in the night where I would wake up gasping for air- then fall back asleep. Took a long time to convince me, but her and a shaky bit of blood work convinced me to do the sleep study.
Was pretty shocked with the results... apnea was pretty moderate compared to what others have experienced but still surprising when they put those numbers in front of you. Went down to 0 interruptions during the study when hooked up to the machine. So I have to give it a try now as well. Not thrilled about it, but i'll at least try it and see if it makes a difference day-to-day.
I went ahead and ordered from CPAP.com yesterday. I was able to get the same machine and mask as the local medical supply stores for over $400 less with free overnight shipping and no taxes. They set it up to the doctors orders so it should be ready to go when it arrives today. I guess I will see tonight how much fun it is to sleep with the mask on but I have warned my wife to get ready for my nightly ritual of doing a horrible Darth Vader or Bane voice.
Only thing I can vouch is if you go through a medical supply store they can usually send the readings to your pulmonologist/insurance no sweat.
If you buy the stuff independently (CPAP.com,etc.) not sure how complicated it is but there’s probably an app for that I’d guess?
I bought the Phillips Dreamstation. I had found it on Walmart for $120 cheaper than CPAP.com's price but they said they would give me a 20% off coupon which matched the price. Who knew you could bargain with those places? haha
I also bought the Phillips Dreamwear Full Face mask which is similar to the Amara View. I hope it works and doesn't have a lot of leaks.
Ha, enjoy but with me I ended up having to set the pressure lower. I still adjust it from time to time. After mask fit that is the biggest factor to sleeping comfortably.
Good luck, man. I hope it works out for you. Be sure to download the DreamMapper app that works with the Dreamstation so that you can see how much time you're wearing your mask, apnea events, leaks, etc. When I first started getting used to it, I would wake up to find my mask on the floor beside the bed. Apparently, I would rip it off in the middle of the night. At first I could only wear it for about 3-4 hours per night, but after a couple of weeks I was wearing it all night long. It's weird at first, but you'll get used to it.
And yes, my kids called me Daddy Vader for a while.
I have been using that for 15 months. I am so use to it now I can’t sleep without it. I sleep very soundly. I wake up in the same position I went to sleep in almost every morning. I use to kick my wife in my sleep. The first few night I used it she told me she would feel my chest because I was so still. The sleep test itself was the worst part. I averaged 70+ incidents an hour of either shallow breathing or stopping breathing. Now I average 0-2 an hour. Down load the dream mapper app. It gives you stats every morning so you can see how you are doing. Some nights I can put it on and it seals good and I have no problems. Occasionally it doesn’t seal right and air blows into my eye and that is very irritating.I bought the Phillips Dreamstation. The Doctors orders was from 5-18 range.
