CI Wrestling Thread #56

WWE stock price is up 45.81% over the past year.

They may be dicks, but I wish I had bought last year.

(maybe this is counter), but I’m a capitalist and hate socialism, but I hate when companies go public. You always seem to see employees are last when it happens…

I was driving across the 2nd street bridge this morning and saw a ton of WWE trucks parked on the Indiana side of the river. Which made me realize unloading at the Yum Center must be a huge pain in the ass.

Don’t feel like researching it but someone said the RAW men’s survivor series team were all part of SD before the draft

Sunday tidbits…

Before releasing 18 Superstars on Thursday, WWE reportedly considered making other cuts as well.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Michael Perry of Ringside News), WWE discussed the possibility of releasing any veteran wrestler who hasn't been used lately on the main roster or in NXT.

According to Alvarez (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News), WWE only wants to sign women if they are under 25 or even 23 years of age.

Alvarez also said WWE is targeting men who are 27 or younger and at least 6'2".

Based on the recent NXT programming, there is no question that WWE has been trying to highlight younger women, such as Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne, Indi Hartwell, Persia Pirotta and Cora Jade.

At the same time, WWE hasn't shied away from using women in their 30s, either, including new NXT Women's champion Mandy Rose, Raquel Gonzalez, Io Shirai and Dakota Kai.

WWE is also said to be considering making a significant change to the contracts it offers wrestlers in NXT.

According to Meltzer (h/t Perry), WWE is discussing the idea of offering everyone except top prospects 60-day trial contracts. How the wrestlers improve over the duration of those deals would determine whether they are offered full-time contracts.

Originally it was reported he was going to sign with Impact, of course the same thing was said about Strowman.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised to see him at Full Gear on Saturday.

It's almost as if McMahon thinks the wrestlers owe him something for locking them all down and keeping them from going elsewhere to stifle all competition, and when the competition rose up, he "punished" the wrestlers by releasing them. 99.9% lock that Adam Cole would have NEVER been utilized well by WWE.

Taya Valkyrie has a beef. I'm sure she talked with AEW at the beginning of the year about joining before making the decision to go to the WWE. Do you think AEW is going to listen to her now, and even if they do, do you think AEW will offer anywhere near what they were prepared to offer in January? They really screwed her.

The sheer volume of wrestlers made available by WWE since the pandemic began means AEW really has the pick of the litter, which hurts wrestlers like Bray. A lot of these wrestlers, if they had become available in a more spread-out manner, and not after AEW brought in a mother lode of talent at the last PPV, would no doubt have been picked up by AEW.

Think about it: If you were looking to wrestle (or work in production, or writing, really any position) and had the opportunity to work for WWE or AEW today, who would you choose? Can anyone even make a cogent argument for choosing WWE right now?

Pwinsider posted the complete list and there's 74 wrestlers that have been released so far this year. That doesn't include Mark Henry and Christian Cage whose contracts expired and left.

This isn't really any different than that of how female models are used in fashion and in brands with some exceptions. They have a criteria and go with that and tbh, most women didn't stay at the top in WWE as long as the most recent ones have- Charlotte, Sasha, Becky.

I also not believe Alvarez has any sources whatsoever left. Same for Meltzer. Once their source leaves, they're done and the rest is speculative BS. Ryan Satin was the same way. He had ONE SOURCE- Jimmy Jacobs and when he was gone, he had nothing left to report and suddenly took a "break" from reporting. Dirt sheets are the biggest bullshitters on the planet. Maybe even worse than real media.

Oh, no doubt Adam Cole wouldn't have been used well on the main roster as he's a shrimp. He's not tall nor is he strong.

I know people who have worked for both companies. It's not necessarily apples to apples considering the two companies are at different parts of their history. But WWE is ruthless. Bleed you dry and spit you out. My friend had been there for over 20 years but was one of the layoffs earlier this year. He could not have been happier as he was very unhappy and I don't blame him from what was told.

But the more and more AEW grows and if it's successful, it will have its own problems just as everything inevitably does.

Anyone going to Monday Night Raw tonight??

According to the Wrestle Tix site they've sold about 5,000 seats so far.

8 Years ago the Rock tore his Abs and Abductor muscle off the bone. He is 8 years older. I wonder how his body would do in another match now.

I wonder if Diggs is really an AEW fan or just did this to poke at Tony Khan since they were playing the Jags? I’m sure if it was the latter he’d never admit it now after they got beat lol. Either way I thought that was pretty cool.

Former WWE Champion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently spoke with Brandon Davis of ComicBook.com, and addressed the WWE return rumors.

Rock has been rumored to face WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at an upcoming WrestleMania event, perhaps WrestleMania 38 from Dallas in 2022 or WrestleMania 39 from Hollywood in 2023. Rock was asked if he would defend a title if he were able to take it from Reigns.

“I don’t know if I have another title run, considering I’m the People’s Champion, but I don’t know if it’s another title run,” Rock said. “I think possibly, you know, there might be another match down the road. It would have to make sense.”

I like Bianca Belair but they need to stop trying to make her a strong woman. She damn near dropped Zelina Vega on the edge of the ring last night trying to overhead press her to the other 3 last night.

Anyone go to Raw?
Yes. It was pretty good for a while until it came to a standstill. It went from 10:13 to 10:38 where the only thing that happened was Rollins and Owens come to the ring and run around a little. The rest didn't matter because they bored me to death for 20 minutes.

So is it just me or is Seth Rollins trying to act like Joaquin Phoenix does in the Joker?

Also, if I were a wrestler and it required me to wear that stupid crown, carry a scepter and change my accent to a British accent to be the King or Queen of the ring I would gladly decline.

I don't know why he would want to wrestle. He is one of the highest paid actors and doesn't need wrestling now.
I don't get it either. Also I just sprained some Abs once working out and I couldn't imagine the pain of tearing them. I would think he couldn't move until he got them repaired.
