CI Wrestling Thread #56

At kernel angus

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is reportedly looking to appeal to a younger demographic with the new NXT 2.0 product.

According to Fightful Select (h/t H Jenkins of Ringside News), McMahon suggested the use of more adult language and themes, as well as "more lenience" regarding the ring gear of female wrestlers.

McMahon also reportedly wants NXT wrestlers to "keep up with current affairs with promos and character verbiage."

It was noted by Fightful that McMahon primarily wants to target the 18-34-year-old demographic with the new version of NXT.

That was a good end to keep it going but i just hate that it ended with the bucks and Cole acting like they’re something. If it’s going Broadway, end it with a little respect or at least acknowledgement then get it going at the next ppv. Hangman May have been passed up.

When I met Adam Cole in 2016 before a ROH PPV in Vegas, I towered over that guy. Lol

Ridiculously small dude. Good on the mic but physically just does not look like a star.

Yup I know he has ties to elite but one of the reasons he left was he knew Vince wouldn’t give him a main roster main event push

The one thing I didn't like about Omega/Danielson (and yes, I'm being picky): It felt almost too choreographed, like Savage/Steamboat WM3 with every move completely mapped out beforehand.

If anyone has any fears that hangman is passed up then you can put those to rest. He’s the guy taking the title from omega. Always has been and they won’t deviate from that.

may have been true months ago but what the influx in talent I’m not as certain

I don't get the fascination with DMD. She is hot but she is no better in the ring than Charlotte or Becky. She isn't any better on the mic than those two or Alexa Bliss either. She's good but a lot on this board act like she is the best ever. I thought Ruby Soho was as good as or better than Britt in that match last night. I'm not sure what I am missing.

It’s the closest thing they have so they cling to it - outside of two or three it’s no better then the roh women’s division.

Really enjoyed Grand Slam last night. Omega/Danielson was great, and they can milk that one out for awhile. They’ll probably try and make it their own version of Omega/Okada. Glad Black won, please have him move on from Cody though.

Soemtimes I think AEW fumbles when they have some momentum, but thought last night delivered. Great crowd and atmosphere.

That was a fun show last night. 60+ year old Sting running around with the youngin's was impressive. I was surprised how much I liked Bryan/Omega. I thought Soho/Britt was really solid as well. I thought it kind of odd they would main event it, but maybe the thinking is that if they treat them like a big deal the fans will as well.

Charlotte is definitely better in ring. Becky is debatable. But at this point I’ll put Britt up against any woman on the mic. The strides shes made there in 2 years are massive. And I actually thought Ruby would look better in ring than Britt but she didn’t IMO.

Baker is hot, one of the best talkers in wrestling, has a ton of charisma, is solid in the ring and completely got herself over. Compare that to when AEW started where she was pretty rough in ring, couldn’t really talk and things sounded forced. They suggested she go heel, which she’d never been her entire career, and she picked it up very quick. I think that entire journey and growth are why a lot of people love her.

Seems like I say this every week but I thought the rating would be higher.

Dynamite did 1.273 million viewers with a .48 in the 18-49 and .67 in males 18-49, number one in the demos again.

Definitely interested in quarter hours to see if people tuned out after the first 45 minutes.

Why would they leave out Punk, Bryan, Andrade, and Black? Probably doesn’t make a difference but it’s weird to leave off the most recent signings.

Looks like WWE jobbed out, misused and failed a lot of their very capable former wrestlers (especially when they know beforehand they were leaving), and did not allow them to reach their full potential. However, it appears AEW used them to their full potential, with breakout results. Fascinating!
Isn’t that how rasslin is supposed to work?

I never saw anything in Ruby. Not in NXT, not on main roster. I remember her feud with Nikki Cross - and Cross was much, much better.

I've seen clips and reports, will try to watch this weekend, but...

Why is Brandi on TV? WHY? FFS WHY?
