CI Wrestling Thread #56

I didn't care much for what Cena and Flair said about Kanyon on Howard Stern, but people that are acting like WWE is responsible for his suicide are just incredibly stupid. That man CLEARLY had issues before he ever went near a WWE locker room.
The Stern Show thing happened in 2006.

Kanyon committed suicide in 2010.

That's an infinitely tenuous connection.

It is as dumb as those concussion lawsuits. Yes concussions are a huge problem and I'm glad WWE adapted, but look at the list of people that sued WWE over it.

Axl Rotten was part of the lawsuit. He was in WWE for about a week. Sabu, Perry Saturn, Shane Douglas, and Balls Mahoney all sued. Really think their head injuries were all WWEs fault? Tracy Smothers? Road Warrior Animal? Chavo sr and jr? Mike ENos?

Matt Jones' OVW is getting a sort of nation TV deal, if by national you mean on 27 different locations (though 28 channels, but two are in KC for some reason) scattered throughout the country

The two KC channels have the same designated channel number, so I'm guessing one station using two towers to simulcast to a wider area.

This does nothing for OVW locally though. If you look at the list of stations in the Action network, there's none in Kentucky, none in Ohio, and 1 in Indiana in a very small market (Salem).

Aren’t they on FITE as well?

Even after a night to sit on it, I’m still can’t believe that’s the finish they came up with for Balor and Reigns. They had it set up for a great finish with the snow and the heartbeat yet they went with that. If that was their attempt to protect the demon, they failed miserably. WWE would have been better off having Reigns win due to Usos interfering.

I just can’t believe that in the meeting with creative they thought that was the best ending.

I went to louder than life and totally forgot about this show until just now.

Btw poor Rob Halford. His voice was great but he could barely move

Were you there early enough to see Fozzy. I haven't seen anything from yesterday but I've seen them sound really good and then quite awful.

I'm still trying to figure out how you have a DQ finish on a show called Extreme Rules.

Didn't like the main event finish either. Basically WWE is doing PPV's to set up the TV shows now when it used to be the opposite.

Ya these non big 4/5 ppv are just fillers - hopefully Alexa ditches this stupid gimmick now

No I had to work so I didn't get out there until around 4. I got to see the end of Skillets set, and then Pennywise, Seether, Breaking Benjamin, Judas Priest, and Metallica

This is my first year missing LtL. After they moved from champions park, I dont really care much anymore. Politics has ruined music for me

Jeff Hardy was pretty over last night. How long before he's in AEW with Matt and jobbing to the Young Bucks?

Looks like WWE jobbed out, misused and failed a lot of their very capable former wrestlers (especially when they know beforehand they were leaving), and did not allow them to reach their full potential. However, it appears AEW used them to their full potential, with breakout results. Fascinating!
How many featured wrestlers (Outside of Fuego Del Sol ) actually have losing records. I want to see those results recalculated when you take out the AEW Dark matches against jobbers.

That’s what builds those records up - kinda like early 90s wwf superstars episodes you just got a bunch of squashes.

well listening to Cornette talk about AEWs show Wednesday. Just started into it but he said it was by far the best show they've ever put on and better than anything WWE has put out in a long time. Gotta say the man didn't pretend to hate.
He still has a white-hot hatred for Omega. I think on the show you are listening to, Cornette says that Danielson "carried" Omega a bit in the match. Brian Last responded, "Jim, Kenny Omega could cure cancer and you would give credit to the patient.”
