CI Wrestling Thread #56

This is a spoiler for Rampage, so I'll hide it and let those who choose to read read:
The match between Andrade and Pac was, I thought, a match of the year candidate as I sat there watching it. But then they had Chavo interfere so Andrade won the match, which lessened it for me.

Also, Andrade turned on Chavo after the match. Is this a prelude to inserting Ric Flair as his manager?

Watched AEW last night for the first time. The best part was when dude called Pillman's wife Methany and said she should have aborted the kid. Good times. You all have fun with that.

I loved it. We haven’t had hot ass promos in damn near 20 years minus Punk’s pipebomb in 2011.

AEW as of late has that electric 90s feel, while RAW feels like a children’s wrestling show.

It's easy to forget just how over DDP was during that era.

I can see some folks distaste with the MJF promo, but it had that old school "territory" heel feel to it to me.

So that Gable Stevenson that WWE just signed. He is staying in college and WWE is doing NIL and sponsoring him while he defends his NCAA title.
That seems like a smart deal for both parties. Wonder how much he’ll end up getting for it?

So I have to laugh at my own stupidity on this one. But I was thinking about the money and I had that fleeting 'would he lose eligibility if he wrestles a match for WWE' as if that is somehow the pro equivalent to college wrestling

Chris Jericho vs. Dean Malenko was one of my favorite angles back then. When they did that battle royale and Juvi eliminated himself to let that random luchador win. Then he tasks his mask off and it was Stinko Malenko instead. And then Jericho marched on Washington because it wasn't fair.

I agree. It was so good. I was in high school at the time.

That’s the angle that got Jericho over and positioned him to be a major star in the industry.

Ahhh....where the legendary "List of Jericho" began. I was in high school as well around that time.

I loved how he started reading the list, they went to break and came back to him still in the ring reading the list.

Can’t forget the mock memorial Jericho did for
Malenko’s father. It really made you want to see Malenko get the best of him in that feud.

just like with Stone Colds King of the Ring promo, Meltzer was just a tad off on Jerichos list of holds

"Chris Jericho retained the cruiser title beating Marty Jannetty with the Lion tamer in 1:22. Jericho did a post match interview saying he made a list of his 1,000 holds, which flopped major. At least his pre-match interview was good, and this one, designed to be bad, was bad in the wrong way"

If Chris came out with that stunt while in AEW right now, Meltzer and Alvarez would probably say it's one of the greatest promos they ever witnessed.

The main reason I knew Meltzer said that was because when Bryan Alvarez was reviewing the Monday Night Wars on one of his podcasts they were talking about what a great promo it was and then Bryan said "and somehow Dave hated it"

But Dave wants to say others are out of touch when it comes to wrestling.

If you look closely, it looks like his picture on that currency
You state that as if that is a perfectly rational and sane explanation.

So why is he signing fake currency with his picture on it? Why did he/WWE make said fake currency in the first place? Is that how he pays the wrestlers, in Vince dollars?

The why is easy...he is VKM and that is just the type of thing he does...Him signing Vince bucks is the least surprising thing in that picture and that includes the dinosaur skull on the wall which has become fairly infamous.

Dynamite did 1.319.000 viewers last night. It did a .52 in the 18-49 and a .75 in males 18-49.

The male demo tripled anything else on TV last night.

Dynamite beat Raw in the main demo last night for the first time. Outstanding rating.

And I can’t believe Vince was stupid enough to want to use Adam Cole as Keith Lee’s manager. I don’t he was ever staying anyway but that made his decision easy as could be.

Vince voice: GD, pal. It just like regular currency but only valid at WWE shop.com (now selling food and toiletries)
