I was a big wcw guy, i thought they had a better weekly show during the late 90s... obviously turned over to wwe once the rock and Austin got white hot. I think I remember falling out of favour with wcw when they changed the logo and the set of nitro.I bought vhs tapes of ECW ppvs and enjoyed them but never could find or watch their weekly show. I don't remember seeing batista, cena, or orton on the card in wwe so I was out on wwe before they came.
I tuned in last year when aew debuted on TNT but their talent just wasn't that interesting. now that they've signed punk, BD, and cole i am really interested. these guys legitimize aew a little bit and make for a better show. aew's matches are entertaining, a bit goofy, but entertaining. they are actually giving an effort in their weekly shows unlike a match you would see on raw or smackdown.
What I enjoy the most about aew and what will keep me tuning in are the fans. The crowd involvement in aew is really awesome and they need that to continue. they should consider paying people to sit throughout the stadium to keep that going.
punk may have wanted to wrestle darby allin first but I think that was a mistake. i don't think that really helped darby at all, but I don't care about allin to begin with. aew hasn't done a good job building their own guys, save for hangman, so I am not sure who they could have paired punk up with. they don't really have any heels.
aew is a work in progress, I'm interested, but they have to keep fine tuning. I heard on konan and discos show a week or so ago that aew had a job posting that sound like was fit for bruce Prichard? I wonder what happened to that? they talked about only a few guys who have the experience that could fill that role. Paul heyman, Prichard or jeff jarrett. with conrad thompson having a podcast with double j now, I imagine he's the one that fills the role. seems like conrad and aew have some sort of connection.
