CI Wrestling Thread #56

Went to the show in Cincy last night. First AEW show and, like someone else said the entire night had a 90's vibe. The crowd was hot, and the matches were great. I was hoping to see Jericho, but other than that, everybody else was there.

I was surprised how small the arena was. I would bet that there wasn't 4000 people there. Still, great excitement and I will go again if they come nearby again.

Dynamite opened around 1.3m and never fell below 1.2m. The Elite segment was tops at 1.5m and a surprise to me the Hayter and Soho match was second at 1.4m.

Dynamite did 1.319.000 viewers last night. It did a .52 in the 18-49 and a .75 in males 18-49.

The male demo tripled anything else on TV last night.
That’s it? I guess my expectations were higher. I thought they’d get 1.5

let’s see if they hold on of these were casuals just checking on

Looks like TK heard the complaints that Suzuki’s entrance was short as was the match and is bringing him back. I thought the Suzuki match was supposed to have been a one off.

Dude, Pillman’s sister and aunt hate Pillman’s mom. So I’m sure there was no issue there with them giving the blessing for that segment. As far as Pillman Jr. goes. His relationship has been rocky as shit with her and just trying to get it back going. I bet he was quicker then a hiccup to sell her out to work with MJF in his home town and have a match at Arthur Ashe.

Here is the TK from 2 years ago - is he going back on what he said?

I didn't read the article just the headline but I think if he doesn't sign Braun or Brey then he is technically right that he isn't signing every talented person out there.

That is a good way to follow up a PPV! Outside of Malachi and Dustin being a bit clunky (chemistry?) in spots, I really enjoyed myself. It's really fun to watch a show where everything is going somewhere.
You are being too kind. That one was a dumpster fire. I mean Dustin did an arm drag takedown on the air. 😂

You state that as if that is a perfectly rational and sane explanation.

So why is he signing fake currency with his picture on it? Why did he/WWE make said fake currency in the first place? Is that how he pays the wrestlers, in Vince dollars?
Maybe he has followed the coal mine companies example and built houses, stores, etc and after the wrestlers get paid, pay their mortgages, buy clothes and groceries from him he will get his money right back. It worked for coal companies for years.

I think you can easily explain why Booker and Foley's opinions differ by their relationship with WWE. Booker has a contract as an on air (not in-ring) talent with WWE, he's a company man since he's been with them for 2 decades. Foley has a legends contract with WWE, but has worked in several other feds in the last 2 decades and IMO doesn't feel beholden to them like Booker does.

AEW is getting good. Even I will admit that. They're getting enough WWF guys that keep them from putting the junk on TV. The only thing to make it perfect would be to get rid of Omega, Cody, and The Bucks. Those guys aren't stars but for their mark fanbase, they were popular. Now that they got some real talent in there like Daniel Bryan, Aleister Black, Adam Cole, and CM Punk, they don't need the Japanese darlings.

I guess I was mostly annoyed that the air didn't sell it. I tend to be nice about things, I'm watching the show for fun and not getting paid to review.

My biggest qualm with the match was the finish. Black’s kick hit Dustin’s shoulder, but Dustin had to sell it like it killed him. Lol.

I’m guessing it’s because Black isn’t used to working with such a tall opponent.

Hi, I’m a mark who likes the bucks and omega. Idc. It’s the first time in a long time I’ve felt like a kid again who can sit down in front of the TV and not bitch about everything I’m seeing.

I actually thought it might be closer to 1.4-1.5 million.

I also think there are people who, no matter who or what is on, simply refuse to watch. But that's just me

I am not disagreeing with her but to have your wife call out management is a bad look and probably not something he wants to deal with in a locker room.
I mean I’m sure he was promised a good push but that was before the Christian/punk/db/Cole/black/Andrade signings so ya he prob went down a peg snd she’s not happy about it

Brian Cage has responded to the tweets and agreed with them.

Brian Cage debuted by winning the #1 contenders match, and then got to fight then world champion Moxley at Fight for the Fallen last year, so he got a good first push.

Miro, Archer, Cage, all could be monsters. Miro is the one currently being pushed.

Cage has a good physique, is a solid worker, but has no charisma and can't cut a good promo. I don't have anything against Cage, but if I was TK I would call him in, sit down with him and tell him if he's unhappy, AEW will release him from his contract and he can go wherever he desires *immediately* if he thinks he can go somewhere else and be utilized better.

He may even be the first wrestler to leave AEW for WWE.
