CI Wrestling Thread #56

Bucks are just salty because as shitty as WWF has became, they still couldn’t hack it in the major leagues. AJ Styles and a 7’3 rookie, Orton and a pot smokin surfer, new Day, Uso’s, and Rude/Ziggler are all better and work better matches than Matt and Nick.

Did daddy not hug you enough as a child?

Some woke schlub on twitter was shaming WWE for Baron Corbin's storyline, which he claimed was making fun of poors. Lots of people let him know what a complete dumbace he is.

I saw someone posted online that the Corbin angle is an attempt to make fun of Flair and his known financial woes in the past as payback for the way he left the company.

Corbin was doing the schtick before flair left I thought.
The angle started before he completely left, but do we know when those exit discussions started? Or if they even changed the angle more to mimic Flair as it went on. I'm not saying I believe the theory. I just thought it was funny and some of the stuff is kind of similar to Flairs troubles in the past.

Valid point. I guess I never realized how bad it got for Flair. I need to watch the 30 for 30

But, but CM Punk went on someone's podcast and said he's busy next Friday hosting a watch party for the show Heelz. He wouldn't lie would he??

Dynamite Preview, Tony Khan said the Dan Lambert thing would now be next week, not tonight.

Chris Jericho vs. Wardlow with MFJ.
AEW Champion Kenny Omega & AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks vs. Dante Martin & Matt and Mike Sydal.
Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers vs. The Dark Order's Evil Uno & Stu Grayson.
Nyla Rose vs. Kris Statlander
Daniel Garcia vs. Darby Allin.

I’d really love to see the dark order knock off gallows and Anderson, but know it won’t happen.

ECW alumni "Pitbull #1" Gary Wolfe has a theory about All Elite Wrestling, which he shared in an interview with Wrestling Inc.

“I watch WWE here and there. I’m very confused about how they’re releasing so many people. I don’t understand that. I’ll give you an example. I think Vince McMahon may own AEW. That’s just my opinion. Why is his guys rolling and they’re going right there (AEW)? I mean, I know Paul [Wight]. I knew Paul before he was a wrestler. I know Vince loves him, and Mark Henry’s another guy. What’s going on? He’s getting rid of all the big guys, don’t make any sense. I’m starting to think that there’s a relationship between Vince McMahon and Tony Khan and AEW.”
“Back then, we knew we were rocking and rolling, and we were giving Vince a run for his money, but then things just started looking different. Stuff wasn’t right, and that’s when we would start to actually think, what’s going on? Myself and my partner, we were leaving. Paul already had our two week notice. We were going to WCW.”
“We stayed as long as we could for ECW, but then when it was getting bad with the checks bouncing and just having that problem and this problem, that’s when we gave him our two week notice. [Eric] Bischoff, Diamond Dallas Page, Terry Taylor, Raven and Kevin Sullivan called me all at once in one conference call, and they’re like, ‘We want to bring you guys to WCW. You’re going against The Steiners and you’re getting the belts.’ We’re like, ‘Okay, no problem.’ Gotta go. Vince, not only did he buy ECW, he bought WCW. So I couldn’t sign my contract because they froze everything. Bischoff told me, ‘If I signed you last week, he would have to pay you, but I can’t sign any new talent. No new talent.’”

I thought wrestlers had to lose or be embarrassed in some way when they are in their hometown....or is that just WWE.

Three titles defended on the debut of Rampage, works for me.

Honestly, I don’t buy that whatsoever. I can buy into Cornette’s theory of Vince releasing guys because Dixie Gulas is a supermark and will sign anyone. (And if that Corny theory was true, it’s still dumb on vinces part)

Yup I’d agree with this

Fun interview. Sounds like Jericho's book is what Cornette did for years - recording the dates of matches, locations, how big or small the house was, and how much Jericho made for the night.

My wife got me the book, it's pretty interesting. He did make a few comments about eastern Kentucky hillbillies that probably won't endear him to some folks. The story about Jesus and the Rock and Roll Express was pretty good.
