CI Wrestling Thread #56

Wasn't Tony calling baseball games and doing stuff for the Georgia radio network. I remember when they interviewed him for Hey Kentucky.

It was great seeing Juvi on TV again but as Jim Ross says "that was bowling show ugly,"

I wonder if comedy guy Miro was his idea and then someone (TK) realized it wasn't working and used him the way he should be.

Almost forgot I did enjoy the Pabst Blue Ribbon commercial tonight. Didn't see any ads for Domino's but I did see Little Ceasar's and Papa John's.

I’m honestly devastated

When I first started watching in 81/82, I became huge fans of the midnight Express (Dennis Condrey, Randy Rose (and is awesome I’m friends with both) and Norvell Austin) because they dared to go against Jimmy Harts First family.

When the team went with Condrey, Eaton and Corny and then with Stan Lane replacing Dennis…I’ve always been the biggest fan of the team.

but just got a message that Bobby Eaton died. I’m at a loss…this next Cornette show is going to be rough

Just saw this when I got up, so very sorry to hear.
My two favorite tag teams of all time were the Midnight Express and the Road Warriors.

Damn! I hate that about Bobby. I don't know the guy from Adam but we went to an outlaw local show outside of Somerset 10-11 years ago. I had a buddy managing so I went to make fun of him on my way to Lexington one night. Bobby and Tracy Smothers were the guest stars. Tracy was working the gimmick stand but Bobby was working on the card. I yelled for him to give us an Alabama Jam. He look and shook his head no. I was 28 or 29 years old so it wasn't like was some kid but he still made it a point to come seek me out after the show and apologize if his refusal seemed rude. He said he's older and with his back, he just can't do that move anymore and sorry for letting me down. I told him he had nothin to be sorry for and that his appearance alone did more for these little local outfits than he knew. He couldn't have been any nicer. It's a shame that the two legends that were in Shopville, KY that night are now gone.

AEW did 1.102 million viewers last night with a .46 in the 18-49.

Total viewers down slightly but demo was up again and #1 for the fourth straight week.

NXT did 520,000 on Tuesday, right on with last week.

I've been going through Cornette's timeline as he's retweeted a lot of Eaton tributes today. Moving stuff and shows just how much the guy was loved and respected.

Shit

He just lost his wife.

Yeah she had cancer, but still not sure what happened with Bobby

I did talk with Brian about the show and they are recording a Bobby tribute show. I doubt they’ll be any aew stuff, etc in it. It’ll be a tough one

I don’t know the guy personally but say what you want about his politics, opinions, takes, etc but you can tell that Corny really and truly loves the business and more importantly many of the boys that he shared the Locker room and road with. From what I gather, Bobby was like family to him. Pass on my condolences to Jim as I’m sure this isn’t easy for him.
