CI Wrestling Thread #56

But that all happened before Flair was released today. How could AEW have anticipated that? Talking with someone under contract would be tampering.
Well his soon to be son-in-law works with them. And the "bigger than Punk and Bryan" stuff didn't come from AEW because Punk and Bryan aren't official.

Arn, Tully, JJ, now maybe Ric. Pretty sure we can see where this is heading. Does WWF own the rights to 4 Horsemen? It would be awesome from a nostalgia standpoint but also it would be typical AEW rehashing things from years gone by. Maybe these guys could start a new horsemen and pass the torch. I think AEW is about due for another stable.

Yeah they only have about 10 factions already.

Flair is actually a pretty shit human being. Love the character he plays but be sucks as a person.
I think Flair is just the kind of person who can't manage money and trusts the wrong people. I wouldn't say he sucks as a person, he just sucks at finances and judging character.

It’s actually being reported now that in wwe internally they forgot when Coles contract was up and that he’s only working on a verbal agreement.

Either way, I’d be very surprised if he stays with wwe. I know AEW is starting to get very large but he’s too good to pass on but the biggest thing is his best friends are evps and his girlfriend is the women’s champ. He’s been videoed and photographed at many AEW parties and events so I’m sure he’s been in touch with Khan.

Wondering if he could be the thing reported last week that was “interesting” in addition to punk and Bryan.

2 years ago, WWE was stocking talent, trying to hoard wrestlers on board their ship like they were going on a 5-day cruise with a years-worth of supplies.

Today, they are jettisoning wrestlers from the ship like they are in imminent danger of sinking despite calm seas and no leaks in a strong hull.

Either 3-D strategy that we can't comprehend, or they're throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks.

AEW sold out the United Center.

Better hope CM Punk doesn't change his mind.
I don't think Khan would book UC for an hour show if Punk wasn't going to be there. BUT on the off chance that he did... oh sweet God this could be a MONUMENTAL disaster.

Damn that United Center show sold out in 5 minutes.

Fightful reported Ric was pissed about a booking decision and went to tell Vince then asked for his release while there.

Wasn’t that the Lacey evans pregnancy storyline - he hadn’t been on tv since then

If he wants to go to AEW he can go. Wrestling is a business. No one knows that more than Vince McMahon. Flair probably wants to sit around with Arn and Tully and play checkers and drink. When you hit 72 you start losing friends fast.

So remember that Legends Night back on January 4th when Randy Orton dressed down Big Show, Mark Henry and Ric Flair? With Flair's release today, they have all since found their way out of the WWE.

No clue on validity but I read today that Arn trademarked 4 horsemen back in April. Cash or Dax posted a pic of them with Tully and Arn with a link to the Flair news.

If ric just retires and rides out into the sunset I’d be happy for him. In fact that’s what I would prefer to see. I’m sure he’s gonna end up in AEW, run a 4 horsemen angle, buy out NWA, pin Aldis and die the NWA world champ. Book it

Like pay off his massive debts, etc
You mean he gave Flair a LOAN? Which Flair paid back? Oh, how can Flair be so callous to St. Vincent?

The same St. Vincent who just released him?

The same St. Vincent who released Flair's son-in-law a few months back?

The same St. Vincent who let Randy Orton bury Ric Flair along with several other legends on Legends Night in January?

Flair has expressed his thanks to Vince multiple times for helping him out with loans at some hard times in his life. How do you equate that to Flair being so indebted that he shouldn't try to make a living in the profession he has given his life to if there's an employer who wants him, since WWE chose to RELEASE him? That's got to be the most re-goddam-effin-diculous argument I've heard in a while.

I’m not sure he can retire. I doubt his spending habits would let him

You’re as bad as the people in the political thread who will believe literally anything as long as it lines up with your hate for the other side.

Fightful said the booking decisions were “fairly recent.” I’m wondering if the story about Charlotte losing her title as punishment for flipping off fans was true and Ric got pissed from it.

wasnt the Lacey thing a long time ago?

Which changes anything Zay or the social media link he posted said because...?

I mean, of course it was a mistake by the audio crew, wherever the sound came from. Just shows how hard WWE is working to manipulate/create/direct/cover up fan reactions.

If Punk comes back I’ll be watching again.

Also I’d love to see them go old school and have him in the crowd for a few shows just watching and whoever draws him back in slaps him as a “fan” along ringside.

Jesus Christ. Do you all really think that if WWE was pumping in crowd noise in that moment they'd use a John Cena Promo from right before the commercial break?

Do you not remember when Dynamite randomly had NBA crowd noise coming through the broadcast? It's the same thing.
