CI Wrestling Thread #56

Jesus Christ. Do you all really think that if WWE was pumping in crowd noise in that moment they'd use a John Cena Promo from right before the commercial break?

Do you not remember when Dynamite randomly had NBA crowd noise coming through the broadcast? It's the same thing.
1. I am not your Lord and Savior, though I am your superior.
2. They effed up. They accidentally pumped in the wrong audio.
3. Are you denying that WWE pumps in crowd noise? ESPECIALLY since they were in Chicago, where CM Punk chants broke out multiple times?
4. Talk about your WWE apologists....

To me, it's like they are 2 scrawny brothers who individually aren't imposing at all and would not be very good singles wrestlers. But when they work together, they are scrappy enough (and heelish enough, when they are heels) together to beat anyone.

Otherwise, you have to level the same criticisms upon CM Punk, or Danielson, or Adam Cole, or a host of other wrestlers who aren't very physically imposing but have gone over many larger opponents.

If you think about it, the bright outfits with the flamboyant fringes, the goofy pose, and their slight builds all work together to make you hate them even more, so it works for their heel characters.
The Bucks have always annoyed me going back to their days as Generation Me in TNA. I actually like them more as heels than babyfaces.

I dislike Omega more. I can’t put my finger on it. His ring work is fine, despite it being so heavily choreographed. I’m guessing it’s the throaty promos and his goofy facial expressions.

Adam Cole never did much for me either. I don’t think he is great, nor do I think he sucks. Danielson has the plucky underdog thing going for him and his work was nearly flawless pre neck injury. Punk is a better promo than anyone mentioned here, and the ability to cut a great promo is lacking in today’s product for both major companies. (WWE scripts theirs to the point of sterility and AEW sometimes lets guys who can’t talk like Hager and Wardlow cut promos)

I think Flair is just the kind of person who can't manage money and trusts the wrong people. I wouldn't say he sucks as a person, he just sucks at finances and judging character.

He’s pretty legendary for being a bad husband and absent father. I’m guessing he’s faced his mortality and is trying to make amends for past transgressions.

And, yes, guy is/was awful with money. Someone should’ve told him he didn’t have to be Nature Boy 24/7.

PWUnlimited is reporting Adam Cole has turned down a number of new WWE contract offers. I’m betting he’s gone.

I think they had a good chance with him until road dogg made those comments last year saying Cole would be universal champ by now if he was Kross’ size. That just let Adam know he was probably stuck in nxt or used badly if he was called up.

The quote I remember best from the 30 for 30 on him was when Jim Ross said "Ric Flair needed to get Richard Fliehr to get someone to do his taxes for him."

I don’t think it was mentioned here when it happened but a couple weeks ago WWE released the VP of Talent Relations. His name is Canyon Ceman. There’s a whole thread you could man on his name alone.... ‘WWE releases Ceman.’

Anyway, they came out and said they released him and then shortly after said that he wasn’t released. Then a week or two later released him for good. It’s thought now that the reason for his firing was due to forgetting of Adam Cole’s contract date. The timelines do add up. I’m not sure if he would have anything to do with Malakai Black’s non compete screw up but that could have hurt him as well.

Heels should probably still avoid rape references, especially one where everyone was innocent.

Rest was pretty good though.

I'm curious why you consider dirt sheets the gospel? As someone who knows both sides of this (the company and the neck beards who run these sites), 90% of this crap is fan fiction.

Who cares if crowd noise was piped in, they are all guilty of doing this.

I have to say, I was pretty upset when I went to an NBA game and discovered there weren't massive amounts of fans playing the accordion and yelling "Defense" but instead, it was being piped through the arena by the sound guys.

Dude you’re missing the point. All that stuff was fine when there were no fans. But continue to crowd sweeten with fans in the arena is another story.

That Caster rap was fire. Him calling Julia’s vagina smelly and the camera cutting to her annoyed face was perfect.

Those baby shit soft clowns complaining need to grow a pair. They’ll go running to their safe space whenever they get to the real world and find out life ain’t fair and nobody gives a crap about your feelings.

Because if it comes from Sapp/Alvarez/Dave it’s usual the truth.

Speaking of, Alvarez said he was told that Ric was pissed about the booking of Charlotte. He texted Vince: “fix it or I quit.” Vince obviously didn’t and let him go.

😂😂😂. Sapp actually has journalistic integrity(and is a UK fan). The other 2 just throw shit at the wall 40% of the time(probably being generous here) and sees what sticks.

^ All of these people are one source away from having absolutely nothing to offer other than speculation and rehashing what Meltzer bullshits.

For instance, Ryan Satin, whose daddy got him a job at TMZ which led to him getting into wrestling coverage, had one source. When that guy left, he was nothing but a douchey twitter personality. Sapp is very similar.

Meltzer has no WWE sources. That's been long gone for years.

AEW caved to the whiny little shits on Twitter and reuploaded Dark with Caster’s rap cut out.

Here ya go for those who say I only praise AEW.... I hate how soft AEW is when it comes to stuff like this. Even more so I hate that a very vocal part of the fanbase is thin skinned/woke/sjw’s. They say they want adult wrestling and then fill their diapers when something like this happens. AEW needs to grow a pair on things like this and let that section of the fanbase cry themselves to sleep without caving in.

Moose has been added to NJPW’s Resurgence show coming up. He will face Ishii. That show is starting to look pretty good.

On a side note, Tay Conti, good googly moogly.

This is reminiscent of wwe in 1995 the programming was awful and wcw soon hit its peak and 5 years later went out of business - aew looks like they will be peaking in the next few months - time will tell if they can sustain it or crash like wcw.

That would be awesome. Only thing is you can’t have Punk lose his first match and if he wins then Jericho doesn’t get the MJF match.
I guess they could technically have MJF interfere when the ref isn't looking, causing Punk to win but then TK proclaim that due to MJF interfering that Jericho still gets his shot at him and it's a win/win.

Tony Khan went on Busted Open today and apologized for the Max Caster thing, He also claimed he didn't hear it until he saw the video play on YouTube. He also said someone else was in charge of editing Dark but he will be now.

Also being reported a few places WWE is preparing for the fact Summerslam won't happen in Vegas and will have to go back to the Thunderdome. This of course a result of the rising COVID cases across the country.

Not gonna lie, this worries me as well. I'm just thinking to myself... this has got to slow down right? Hiring people up left and right... but at the same time, how do you pass up Punk, DB, Bray, Black, Cole, Andrade. Seems like difficult decisions.

With WCW and TNA’s attempts,I’m more cynical about AEW’s longevity.

I could not think of a worse time to have started a wrestling company where you’re giving a massive payroll while the government continues to try and derail any public gatherings.
