I think this is right. JR has the best interviews before big fights. As of this point in his career, he is better taped then live. I loved his interview with the bucks vs omega/page. He’s special, make him feel special.I think JR is one of the best, but I wouldn’t have him do weekly shows at this point. He served his purpose of being a familiar voice to draw people in. No one is all the sudden going to start watching AEW right now because of JR, and no one will leave if he isn’t doing commentary anymore.
He’s still great at the backstage, sit down interview formats and he could still call some of the bigger matches. I’m just not sure he has it in him for weekly tv anymore.
