CI Wrestling Thread #56

AEW is on a streak of 7 out of 8 good to solid shows, that’s basically a month’s worth of consistently entertaining television.
It's all up to a person's taste. Just not sure I buy that many solid shows in a row when everyone has complained about the main storyline and had Jarrett all over their screens for a few weeks. It'd be like everyone hating the Bloodline while getting a [insert old wrestler no one cares about] angle and saying Smackdown has been very good.

I see them slowly turning a corner though. Storm/May, the HS, MJF/Page, Swerve/Ricochet, Cameron...those are definite positives. I've crapped on some of the Storm stuff but her as May was pretty damn good.

To me, it would be like saying a basketball team that just won 7 out of 8 games isn't on a hot streak because they are losing the battle in some statistical category every single game. The goal is to win games, not be perfect.

Not everything the WWE does is well liked by its fans either. There are even WWE fans complaining about the Bloodline, Jey Uso winning the Royal Rumble despite being one of the biggest fan favorites, Cody, the state of the tag division, etc. Does that mean WWE isn't putting out a quality product right now?

And that's my problem with the IWC - the nitpickiness. If something doesn't meet their specific interests and their interest only then it gets trashed. Everything has to be exactly how they want it or it's not good enough. It's never going to be that way.

Frankly, the IWC as a whole mirrors a lot of what I see on here for Kentucky basketball and why I've largely stopped engaging with the basketball discussion on here. UK win's a game and no matter what there's going to be people on here bitching and moaning about a player's performance of some general aspect of the game. Like dude you're a fan, just enjoy the damn win instead of overanalyzing everything.

Full WON annual awards finally released. The voting has contradictions all over the place that make no sense...
  • Triple H wins Booker of the Year (no surprise) but WWE once again is spattered all over most of the worst of the year categories.
  • Raw 3rd best show but also 4th worst show. WWE winis promotion of the year but is also third worst promotion of the year. Well which is it people?
  • NWA worst promotion of the year but it's only weekly show finishes a distant 3rd.
  • AAA finishes a close 2nd for worst promotion of the year but it's only weekly US TV show got canceled after less than a year of being on the air and finishes 8th for worst TV show
Biggest surprise winners, either because they won or the margin of victory...
  • Dynamite best TV show with nearly double the votes of second place
  • Will Ospreay best flyer even though he's not much of a flyer anymore
  • WWE/TKO and Saudi relationship for worst promotional tactic - would have figured it would have been something related to all the legal matters and scandals
  • NWA worst promotion of the year when barely anyone even watches it
  • Not a winner, but NXT getting second for worst show (behind Rampage) was a surprise to me.
  • Also not a winner, but Taro Okada finished just one point behind TK for best booker when I rarely ever even read Stardom fans complimenting his booking.
